  2. Are there plans to keep this in stock? Money's tight right now, but I'd love to have this...
  3. I recently read The Martian by Andy Weir. It's about a manned, 30-day Mars mission that has to abort after 6 days, and a mishap during the evac leaves one crew member behind and assumed dead. Once he realizes what's happened, he has to figure out how to contact Earth to let them know he's alive, and then stay that way until they can come get him. Luckily, the next mission is set to land about 1000km away and in about 4 years, so, no pressure. I read this in essentially one sitting, and while I am no astronaut, it seemed realistic...it was definitely realistic enough to get me thinking about the Solar Hero period. I definitely recommend this to anyone setting up a campaign in that time period.
  4. Re: Order of the Stick Conflict isn't evil in and of itself. His proposals save him the risk of death or severe wounding, while leaving his cohorts no worse off.
  5. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore Never tried it with garlic, and rarely with onion. I'll have to give that a shot.
  6. Re: Order of the Stick We knew it was coming. I'm just surprised they talked so long.
  7. Re: "Neat" Pictures That is one badass tree. The ground falls out from under it, and it refuses to go down.
  8. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares I smell a superdraft!
  9. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore I'd be upset that my calamari isn't calamari, but it's not like I haven't eaten natural sausage casings before. Prefer natural casings for that matter.

  11. Re: "Neat" Pictures Hmm...let's see...I've lived in Shasta, Tule, Big Thicket, Phoenix, and Tidewater. Not sure exactly whether I lived in Washington or Susquehanna, and not sure about Blue Ridge or Shenandoah.

  14. Re: "Neat" Pictures I like the velociraptors.
  15. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... Cool, thanks. My daughter got all three books on Kindle and burned through the first one in less than 24 hours. They sound interesting enough that I'll definitely have to give them a go.
  16. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... I've only seen the movie, but I have to ask: what are the other two books about? The first one seems to wrap up the whole Hunger Games storyline, and it seems unlikely that the same characters would compete in the next year's games. That pretty much leaves a whole world of story possibilities.
  17. Re: "Neat" Pictures I looked up the 100 biggest US cities in 1880, and it's not there at all. Can't be gold rush. Probably has a lot to do with military bases there.
  18. Re: "Neat" Pictures That's not funny. That's very, very sad.
  19. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore I hope that's a pink bottle and not a clear one. I think bacon-doughnut ale still sounds better than pepto-bismol ale.

  21. Re: "Neat" Pictures Yeah, bullets don't throw people...that's Hollywood BS. I'm just talking about tipping someone backwards rather than the natural tendency to fall forwards. That probably wouldn't require a whole lot of energy transfer to pull it off. The next time I have access to a corpse, or at least someone so unconscious that picking them up and dropping them won't wake them up, I'll experiment and post my results here.
  22. Re: "Neat" Pictures What did Mythbusters say? Because I've been active duty for 15 years, and I've seen a lot of people pass out in a lot of ceremonies that shouldn't be happening on such a hot day, and they all fell forward.
