Dust Raven
This is the original filk I wrote back on the old boards, about a month before Hero System Fifth Edition hit the shelves. Fifth Edition Based on "Original Sin" original music and lyrics written by Jim Steinman I've been looking for the Fifth Edition Fourth with a twist and a bit of a spin And since I've done all of the old ones 'Till they've all been done in Now I'm just looking Then I'm gone with the wind Endlessly searching for the Fifth Edition I can talk about Linked And never draw the line But will it ever be enough I know that it'll never be enough I can argue the cost of DEX And say the cost is just fine But will it ever be enough? I know that it'll never be enough It's not enough to make the debates go away It's not enough to rewrite the rules It's not enough to play a little bit better every day It's a system of house rules opened up to debate It's a system with problems that complicate But it'll all be over now! All I wanted was an end to our plight Common rules we all could share When the stars are out of sight And the moon is down The gamers are so restless tonight All I needed was an end to the fight Or something new we could discuss When the stars are out of sight And the moon is down The gamers are so restless tonight I've been looking for the ultimate game Infinite genres with the rules all the same And I'm very frustrated And there's no one to blame So now I'm just looking And I'm going insane Endless searching for the ultimate game I can drown myself in house rules 'Till my mind is going numb But will it ever be enough? I know that it'll never be enough I can always make whatever Changes I could want But will it ever be enough? I know that it will never be enough It's not enough to make the debates go away It's not enough to rewrite the rules It's not enough to play a little bit better every day It's a system of house rules opened up to debate It's a system with problems that complicate But it'll all be over now! All I wanted was an end to our plight Common rules we all could share When the stars are out of sight And the moon is down The gamers are so restless tonight All I needed was an end to the fight Or something new we could discuss When the stars are out of sight And the moon is down The gamers are so restless tonight I've been looking for the Fifth Edition Fourth with a twist and a bit of a spin And since I've done all of the old ones 'Till they've all been done in Now I'm just looking Then I'm gone with the wind Endlessly searching for the Fifth Edition

Black Rose
Re: Fifth Edition (another song parody) This was the filk that got me into Jim Steinman, and, from there, some very cool prog rock. Very cool, DR.

Dust Raven
Re: Fifth Edition (another song parody) Wish I knew the original tune' date=' it reads nicely![/quote'] While it's not the original, listen to the song playing during the end credits of The Shadow (Alec Baldwin). The original was performed by Pandora's Box, on the album Original Sin, but it didn't sell very well.
