the Evil DM
In the 80’s artist Mike Grell started a long running series for DC comics called The Warlord. They were the adventures of Air force pilot Travis Morgan who somehow finds himself transported to the subterranean world of Skartaris. The series had a very decent run and was one of the few truly successful Sword & Sorcery comics around. Using the mapping program in the AD&D core rules software, I recently completed my rendition of a map of the Hollow world of Skartaris that was originally published in the Warlord Annual #4 from 1985. I posted it on my Blog for those interested in checking it out the link is here. http://evildm.blogspot.com/ I’m currently working on a website that will detail Skartaris as published in the series for a Pulp “Lost worlds” campaign. TheQuestionMan
Re: Lost world of the Warlord I loved Mike Grell's run on the Warlord. I will never understand to this day why they keep butchering such a classic title. Their most recent attempt is an atrocity. QM

Its like Highlander II or any Star Wars movie made after "The Empire Strikes Back" - I simply refuse to admit it exists, it's better that way. Evil Steve
Re: Lost world of the Warlord I love that comic. I miss that comic. I remember it from Burkett, Chen and Marcos. I had such high hopes for the new series.

Lemurion
Re: Lost world of the Warlord I don't know what they're talking about. Warlord was an old Grell title like Starslayer. I heard rumors that both continued after he left but never found any proof.

Lemurion
Re: Lost world of the Warlord Obviously insane, but probably happier for it. I also believe that no one but Robert E. Howard ever wrote a Conan story. Anything else is obviously either a delusion or some piece of trash about another character with the same name. FenrisUlf
Re: Lost world of the Warlord I call those people "hacks." I'd say Poul Anderson and Harry Turtledove did good jobs of writing Conan pastiche, mostly because they did it in their style rather than imitating (some might say 'unintentionally lampooning') Howard's own style. Getting back to the main topic; I always loved the Grell Warlord, though why they felt they had to connect it to the rest of the DC-verse, I simply do not know. Susano
Re: Lost world of the Warlord Maybe. Andrew Offuit did a nice Conan pastiche. But re-reading some of the L. Sprauge and de Camp stuff... *shudder*

Oops, didn't know that. My mistake then. But I still think Warlord works a lot better when it's treated as its own universe, distinct from the usual DC-verse. Shadowwind
Re: Lost world of the Warlord I feel bad that the story will not continue. Shakira was my favorite character in the series. I have used her in many of my role playing. Now, the question is 'is she a cat that changes to a woman or a woman that changes to a cat?' I do recall they shown a male verision of her in the comics. What was his name? I can't seem to recall. The sad part was the warlord was never reunited with his son. I believe he was last seen with the short wizard that enjoyed a good stiff.
