Mark Rand
As some of you may know, I'm working on a campaign that has Batman based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (my home town), not Gotham City, New Jersey. One challange for this is the creation of the Batcave. This is challanging because the rights to everything underground Southwestern Pennsylvania, including Pittsburgh, were sold several centuries ago. Batman's friend, Doctor Arcane, is willing to help by creating the Batcave in a pocket reality. Batman, however, has to design it. Hopefully, some of you can come up with ideas, or designs, for the Batcave.
tkdguy
Re: Need help for the Pittsburgh Batcave Perhaps the Wayne family bought the underground sections themselves, at least those in Pittsburgh. That would make it easier for you. If you prefer the pocket reality, perhaps Batman can have several secret locations around the city. Doctor Arcane's spell alinks those places together and allows Batman (and his team, if he has one) to cross from one location to another. Each place would, of course, have a secret entrance/exit. This would allow the Dark Knight to show up to fight crime and mysteriously disappear afterwards as soon as possible. I do have one question. I always thought Gotham City was in New York, and I've never heard of it being in New Jersey. How'd you figure it's in NJ?

Some sources place it in Southern Ocean County, near the Mystic Islands and Little Egg Harbor. Also, the 'Haven is most likely based on Atlantic City. Mark Rand
Re: Need help for the Pittsburgh Batcave There is no Warne Manor. Instead, Bruce, his live-in secretary, and reputed lover, Barbara Gordon, and Alfred Pennyworth live in the six bedroom apartment on the penthouse floor of the hotel/casino Bruce owns. The penthouse floor, which also has four suites, is serviced by six elevators. One is a private elevator, used only by Bruce, Barbara, and Alfred, A second is the service elevator. The other four are the hotel elevators and a special key is needed to come to the suite. Of the three, Alfred interacts the most with the housekeeping staff. Doctor Arcane, the same one Solara knows, is a friend of Batman's. His fastness is based on the Mobius, which is on pages 59-64 of Allen Yarney's wonderful book Mystic Masters. The mansion's two-car garage has a pocket universe the size of the playing area of a football field in its back wall. Most of this is for parking. However, there is also a repair shop there. This garage only lets in authorized vehicles and can be accessed from several places. The living room's north wall has a pocket universe, consisting of a ballroom with a pre-function area in it. The dining room and kitchen connect to a pocket universe that holds a large butler's pantry containing food, drink, serving equipment, and table linen. All the books in the library are visible to everyone. A large painting of a swordswoman in scale mail has a pocket universe that holds a magic library. The painting is indestructable and only an adept can step through it to the library. Each second floor bedroom has a ghost tied to it. The ghosts who are good, are intangable, can affect the real world, and can make themselves seen. The third floor is strange. Bedroom one (occupied by Donna Stewart, Doctor Arcane's housekeeper) and the suite thatBedroom two is part of (Doctor Arcane's quarters), have the same kind of ghosts. Additionally, the woods are an actual pocket universe and are accessable from the hall and balcony. As far as the basement goes, the main room, utility room, laboratory, and shop are somewhat larger than they should be.

Strange... re: Batcave I don't see why a billionaire playboy couldn't buy up an acre or so of mineral rights. In fact, he could buy a company who owns the mineral rights, and use its labor force to do the heavy lifting in carving out the batcave, and nobody would know the difference. It would probably work better if Bruce lived in a mansion instead of a hotel penthouse.
Maelstrom
Re: Need help for the Pittsburgh Batcave I'd stay away from the mystical pocket dimensions and stay with the iconic underground cave. Maybe a series of formerly-collapsed mining tunnels? Or mined-out tunnels? If they'd already been collapsed, it's unlikely that mining companies would stray into them. Mark Rand
Re: Need help for the Pittsburgh Batcave I, too, would prefer a real cave. Since Bruce's apartment is on the penthouse floor of his hotel, a secret elevator would have to connect it to the Batcave. It would probably be accessable from his secretary's office. Since she is secretly Batgirl, this is reasonable. I suppose the Batmobile (a Lamborghini Murcielago), Batgirl's motorcycle (a Kawasaki Ninja), and Alfred's van could exit through the hotel garage, but popping out of Doctor Arcane's garage is cooler. (Batgirl does wear a full-face helmet when she's on her bike, but the cape, utility belt and bat-insignia on her chest could identify her.) I also had planned to house Batman's engineer, federal liaisons and, possibly, doctor and/or nurse, in Doctor Arcane's house.

Mark Rand
Re: Need help for the Pittsburgh Batcave Just a quick note: one of the reasons for the pocket universe Batcave was to provide a "training town" for Batman, Batgirl, and their associates (the PCs).
