Favorite Damage Shields?

Re: Favorite Damage Shields?

Since we have DS experts here I'd like to ask a question. What does DS do to the ground you walk on and the things (from foci to civilians) you touch?

The same thing that a character with the Desolidification Power does when using it (without the Flight power) while walking over the surface of something that doesn't have the Affects Desolidified Advantage.

Nothing.

Some powers don't always make complete sense in their base form. That's what sfx and additional Advantages and Limitations (like Side Effects in the case of your original question) are for.

With respect, I think that varies on a case-by-case basis. Some types of Damage Shield should logically affect the surface a person walks on, for example an aura of fire surrounding the person. Unless said character is constantly flying/levitating etc. the floor or ground should be damaged if it's made of something the DS is capable of burning. This situation would be particularly appropriate if said DS is bought Always On, as it's supposed to have detrimental effects while active that justify the Disad.

Re: Favorite Damage Shields?

You can break out of an Entangle' date=' but, depending on your interpretation of the rules, 90 STR clinging would require beating a 90 STR strength-to-strength roll. Evil.[/quote']

That does sound evil, but then what happens when you want to move away from your attacker(s)? Clinging would be a two way street, wouldn't it?

Also, how do people handle the interaction of damage shields?
