increasing bow damage with OCV levels?

Re: increasing bow damage with OCV levels?

I know in a fantasy game for melee damage, for every 2 ocv levels you would apply to hit, you can instead use those level to increase damage by one DC.

Can you do the same thing with bow ocv levels?

No. You must have 5 point levels (Ranged) if you want to shift them, or purchase dedicated DC levels.

So, basically, Yes, you can sacrifice 2 OCV for 1 DC KA, as long as they are of the 5 or more point variety (which you base OCV from Dex should be) and apply to the attack type (can't sacrifice +OCV with Melee for ranged damage, heheh).

Re: increasing bow damage with OCV levels?

To pick a nit: The answer really is "no' date='" assuming that what he means are 2 point OCV CSLs.[/quote']

To pick the nit further, you cannot use 2 pt OCV level to increase damage either - you need at least 3 pointers (the cheapest level that can be switched around). The 2 point CSL gives you +1 OCV and nothing else.

cheers, Mark

Given the wording of the original question he was talking about moving 2 levels for 1 DC of KA and so never specified how many points the levels were worth, heheh.

Re: increasing bow damage with OCV levels?

spelling it out a bit

if you have bought 3pt skill levels for your bow, then yes, you can make them do more damage with your bow.

If you have bought 3pt skill levels for your sword, then no, you cannot make them do more damage with your bow, but you CAN make them do more damage with your sword.

If you have bought 5pt skill levels for Ranged combat, then yes, you can make them do more damage with your bow (or any other weapon used at range).

If you have bought 5pt skill levels for Melee combat, then no, you cannot make them do more damage with your bow (or any other ranged weapon), but you CAN make them do more damage with your sword (or any other weapon used for melee).

If you have bought 8pt or 10pt skill levels, then yes, you can make them do more damage with your bow, your sword, your foot, your fingernail clipper, or anything else the GM says ok to.

Hope that didn't sound condescending, but just trying to cover all the bases!
