CrosshairCollie
Nothing too urgent, but I'm mucking around with a 'cybernetic telepath' character; one that can use mental powers on both the human and machine class of minds. I'm trying to come up with 'computery' names for the powers and coming up rather short. So far (the character is something of a rookie), she just has Mind Control, Telepathy, Mental Illusions and an Ego Attack. Any thoughts? Edit: And while I'm at it, can anybody think of any good defensive powers for a Telepath who is not also a Telekinetic? I'm hoping for something besides having to resort to an armored costume. braincraft
Re: Cybernetic Telepath - Naming Powers Mind Control: Root Access, Process Exploit Telepathy: File Decryption, Data Search Mindlink: Instant Messenger Mental Illusions: Video Editor, 'Shop Cortex;you might be able to use the same names as for Mind Control Mental Defense: Bucket Filter Ego Attack: Buffer Overflow, Syn Flood, DOS Attack, Soft Reboot, (if Damage Shield) Black ICE/Attack Barrier The obvious defenses for a non-telekinetic mentalist are DCVs and Combat Luck based on telepathic prediction and slight manipulations to opponents' actions and perceptions. gmurie
Re: Cybernetic Telepath - Naming Powers Wow, good ones braincraft. Of course with a character like that you'd almost have to come up with some oddball powers that are more than just the vanilla. How about... System Scan - Detect Human Minds plus Computers as extra class of things System Lag - BOECV Drain vs. DEX and EGO, not a powerhouse ability, but one that's much beloved by other players. Cortex Cooker - BOECV RKA Jammer - Invisibility that only works vs. computers and humans you're aware of. Video Buffer Overflow - BOECV flash attack I'll agree on the DCV and Combat luck as non-foci defenses. You could also add Danger Sense that only works vs. human or machine attacks. braincraft
Re: Cybernetic Telepath - Naming Powers Can you do the invisibility trick with Mental Illusions? I'll have to reread the powers chapter.

I'll have to reread the powers chapter. I'd think you'd need to buy a limited Invisibilty, though I swear I remember reading a power in the USPD that was 'Mental Illlusions Self Only'. casualplayer
Re: Cybernetic Telepath - Naming Powers Cheat codes. Blue Screen of Death. SYSAdmin. Malware. Spyware. De-rez. System Hack. Pixilated. Some of these are versatile (and ambiguous) enough for any of the powers you mentioned.
Basil
Re: Cybernetic Telepath - Naming Powers For some reason, I started thinking about electrical terms rather than computer terms. Mind Control: Rewire Telepathy: Multimeter, Schematic (esp. for deep-delving Telepathy) Mental Illusions: CRT Ego Attack: Watts, Volts, Surge For protection, how about Shunt (Missile Deflection), or Corona (Force Field or RKA [Damage Shield])? It's easy to add Powers later, with appropriate names. E.g.: Ohms: Suppress or Drain (esp. multiple powers at once) Farad: END Battery Coil: TK, ferromagnetic substances only Breadboard: a VPP Wire: Naked Adv., Ranged for some/all No-range powers

You subconsciously make people miss or turn solid shots into grazes.
Shadowsoul
Re: Cybernetic Telepath - Naming Powers One could build a Missile Deflection power that uses EOCV. You don't affect the attack itself you simply convince someone to fire at the wrong place. Alternatively Invisibility and Illusions may prevent anyone from attacking you anyway. And I believe that if you have a powerful enough Mental Illusion it can actually affect reality e.g. be used as a physical attack, so presumably it could be used to create solid barriers as well. Alternatively a self healing power which literally 'hacks into' your own nervous system or whatever and jump starts the healing process, forcing it to work at unnatural speeds. It might be expensive if it isn't built right but you could walk around with a few mentally projected Duplicates, (they don't need any abilities apart from movement and Desolid, maybe acting or mimicking). If no one knows which of you is the real you then it'll hamper their ability to attack you.
