Basil
OK, so it's not that interesting a critter, and has only been thought extinct for ~80 years, but still----if they were wrong about this being extinct, what else is still hanging around in the deep, foreboding jungles of Indonesia, Malaysia, etc.

Guest Major Tom
Re: Not extinct! Carnivorous eh? There's gotta be an adventure seed for a tiny carnivorous primate somewhere. Well, if Hollyweird can come up with a film like A Cold and Lonely Death (a.k.a. Chill Factor, IIRC), a Pulp HERO GM ought to be able to come up with a reasonable plotline for a carnivorous primate. What's even scarier than a tiny carnivorous primate, though, is a somewhat larger carnivorous primate: the chimpanzee. There was an episode on one of the National Geographic channel's shows a couple of years ago in which the hunting techniques of chimpanzees were highlighted (yes, chimpanzees are meat-eaters as well as vegetarians, as a female monkey and her baby found out the hard way). Narratio
Re: Not extinct! Lots of experimenting and field testing is done with 'home helper' primates. Mostly small monkeys to help the disabled with house hold chores. I'd slip in a story about training them for this role but then something goes awfully wrong... Trouble is I think Hollywood once again beat me. I remember a film in which one helper monkey turned psycho killer and it's crippled 'owner' had to tempt it into getting close and then rip its throat out. Concept is still a bit too Dark Champions rather than Pulp... dammit!
Lord Liaden
Re: Not extinct! Due to deforestation and pollution, many species have gone and are going extinct which Man has never even identified. Looking at that trend in reverse, it's certainly feasible for there to have been creatures more interesting, or at least more dangerous, than this pygmy tarsier in the wilderness of the Pulp era, which have since disappeared. Rapier
Re: Not extinct! I'm a fairly well adjusted phobia free kind of guy. But tarsiers have always kind of given me the creeps. The kind of creeps others reserve for clowns, flying and spiders. I think its the ginormous eyeballs and the oh-so-creepy-longer-than-ET-gotta-go-dial-the-phone-from-the-next-room fingers. YUCKO! The expression on their faces...you just know they are trying to decide where they are going to nap inside of your torso after they tear out your throat while you are sleeping. I didn't put it well. Thanks for saying it better.
