Doc
Hi people, I went on this while surfing on wikipedia; it's a vertical take-off/landing portable drone developed by the US military: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XM156_Class_I_UAV Reminds me of the sniper's drone in Star Wars Battlefront... tkdguy
Re: "UFO" like combat drone I've heard of this; I think I saw it on Futureweapons. Has it been put to actual use yet?
Duke Bushido
Re: "UFO" like combat drone We use something very similar (much smaller and more "sci-fi" techie, natch ) in our sci-fi games. Originally inspired by a series of books by John DeChancie in the 80s, they've been named "whirly birds" or "sky eyes" by the players. Ours are basically mortar-fired and have the ability to hover or even move about for short distances to provide ariel recon. Disposable (because you know-- in the future, tech gets cheaper. ), they are often equipped with self-destruct functions. Really fun to stat out custom-units, for some reason. The most creative use the players have ever found for them was during a running gun battle / evade and hide session through a city.
