Re: Ctrl+V

Except that, now, on any Sunday afternoon, in an empty downtown, you will notice that bunches of milling people stand on the corners, waiting, cow-eyed, for the little walking signal to allow them to cross the street. They stand there like herds in the rain; no cars coming; no buses; nothing. They don't even bother to look anymore. When the walk sign says go, they go. Automatons, robots; in the name of safety, we've trained ourselves like obedient little poodles. But what choice do we have--there is a fifty or seventy-five dollar ticket if the police catch us walking across an empty street (revenue collection and safety-first go hand in hand). Is this logic?

Someone from another planet would wonder.

  • 'Why don't those people just cross the street, Commander?'
    'Waiting for permission.'
    'From whom?'
    'The blinking sign.'
'I thought all urban earth children were taught to look both ways by their mothers?'
    'They were. Doesn't matter anymore.'
'But there are no cars coming!'
    'They don't know that.'
    'Why?'
    'They're too busy looking at the blinking sign.;
'This place is nuts, let's get outta here.'

Sad, true, funny.

Impressive.

Whenever I get confused about D&D alignment morality, I just imagine Abraham Lincoln and Mahatma Ghandi arm wrestling shirtless on the back of a killer whale. In other words, I remember that it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense and deal with it best I can.

However, if our old friend Sentient Blueberry Muffin decides to get inside of the Mason jar and use his telekinesis ability to fly around in it, then the DR, HP and IT: Homogenous would likely come into play. Not to mention making for a rather bizarre game...

Seeing none other rise to the occasion, Ryland humbly steps forward and addresses the judge, "Your honor, if it please the court I will stand to speak for these men as I see no other willing to do so. I am a humble servant of Torm and am partly responsible for their capture."

Teijo keeps his bow trained towards the entrance, while Annika charges into the cave. Tamora takes a step into the cave while Erogar peeks over the corner. They see something horrible - a living humanoid-like creature seemingly made completely out of blood! The blood drips off the creature constantly and it leaves a red trail behind, as it races towards Annika. Erogar's stomach fails and he immediately vomits. Tamora is frozen on the spot and keeps gasping for air, her eyes widened open. Cormac enters a blind rage and rushes after Annika. The two berserkers charge into the fray fearlessly, while the others fail to make their feet work.

Erogar

The mass of roiling blood consumes Erogar's vision and his knees weaken. He leans against the cave wall for support, and before he can collect himself the shock prompts a fit of retching. He avoids looking down the cave towards the foul monster, and only keeps his peripheral vision on the starting fray.

Lucifer-7 (aka Neon Genesis Evangelion ) Current year: 2015

Current Affairs: 15 years after the Second Impact, Tokyo-3, a militarized civilian city located on one of the last dry sections of Japan, is attacked by the first of a series of strange organisms referred to as Angels. Conventional weapons are found to be ineffective, but the paramilitary organization NERV has succeeded in developing biomechanical mecha, the Evangelions, (or Evas), which are capable of intercepting the Angels.

Divergence Point: The Second Impact occurs in Antarctica in 2000, destroying the contient and causing the Earth's axis to tilt, radically altering the planet's climate (The true nature of 2nd Impact and the Angels is unknown to Infinity and Centrum at this time)

Major Civilisations: Western (Multipolar), Japanese (Unitary), Arab (Multipolar)

Great Powers: NERV (UN Special Agency); The United Nations have effectively become a world government.

Worldline Data:

TL: 8 Mana Level: No Mana

Quantum: 6 Infinity Class: R5 (under revision)

Centrum Zone: Orange

Infinity discovered this world 10 years after Second Impact, and classified it as a Lucifer world. Infinity's activities on Lucifer-7 involve trying to remove Centrum influence on the United Nations and investigating the activities of NERV following the recent appearance of the Angels. Centrum is currently attempting to acquire more influence on the UN council, and has only become infiltrating NERV as a reaction to the Angels' appearance.

Neither Infinity nor Centrum are aware of the true nature of the Second Impact and the Angel threat.

Re: Ctrl+V

As for Lecherousness in particular being worth that many points? It depends on how harsh your GM is. In some campaigns it is basically a quirk, in others you find yourself under constant attack from jealous boyfriends, irate husbands and over-protective fathers (disputes over sexual relations are probably the most common trigger event for personal violence worldwide, I imagine).

In the end the GM has to make a judgement about how many points a disadvantage is worth and then decide how hard to screw the player over it. If you take a five point addiction to tobacco in one of my games I will make sure that eventually you will be stranded in the wilderness and drop your fags in a river. Every disadvantage will eventually come into play and those which I think are overvalued will just happen to be a problem more often.

Re: Ctrl+V

Take the "Furies of Allara" series, it was fairly simple to get such a duel. Indeed it was the main method of dispute resolution between the higher classes.

Yes, if duels are an accepted method of upper class dispute resolution in your culture and you are upper class, then there's no problem with fighting one to resolve a dispute with another toff. That's not at all the same as going on a vendetta to methodically wipe out an entire family via dueling. After all, the matter should be resolved with the duel itself.
