Background/History: Kathleen McCormack was born in Malahide, Dublin County to a good Catholic family and grew up bilingual in both English and Irish Gaelic. Growing up, she was taller than any of her female peers and some of her male ones, being 5'10" by the time she was 12 years old. She was also highly intelligent, excelling at her academic studies as well as athletic pursuits, which made some of her fellow students jealous of her.

However, it wasn't just her height that made her stand out. With the onset of puberty Kathleen's strength grew at an incredible rate and by adulthood there was nothing, on a practical level, she could not lift. She was, simply, the strongest woman on the planet.

At Trinity University she gained her Doctorate in Irish History and Mythology and had become the University's newest professor when the Tarot Council found her, explaining to her that she would be perfect for their newest "Strength".

Personality/Motivation: Kathleen's personality matches her physique, both being very much larger than life. In many ways, she is an excellent fit for the traits of her card, being quick to anger, and the people who know her would say that her temper matches her hair, but also quick to forgive and forget. For all her strength and power, she is a kind, essentially gentle person with a dislike of violence, especially wanton destruction and those who would prey on those weaker than themselves. Too, she matches the card's trait of lust, in this case the lust for life. Outside of the context of the Card she represents, she is an example of the positive aspects of Roman Catholicism, believing that her upbringing in the faith is why she is like this as a person.

Quotes: "Live each day as if it was your last."

*cracks knuckles* "I'd advise against doing that, wee man"

Powers/Tactics: The intelligent use of strength combined with speed.

In addition to being the strongest woman on the planet, Strength is also an excellent gymnast and a regular practitioner of yoga, giving her an agility and flexibility that would not be expected from a "brick". She is also quick, as quick as an Olympic athlete, with superbly fast reflexes and easily able to chase down a car, at least in the city. She has received comprehensive hand-to-hand combat training, mostly designed to make best use of her strength, speed and toughness, but also her considerable agility.

Appearance: Strength, or Kathleen MacCormack to give her real name, is a very tall, very muscular woman, standing 6'3" in her socks and tipping the scales at very athletic 185 pounds. She wears her flame-red hair down to her shoulders and her green-eyes sparkle with both wit and vivacity. When acting as Strength she wears practical clothes, usually cargo trousers, work boots and a teeshirt. When being Professor Kathleen MacCormack, he usually wears trouser suits or a skirt and jacket, only now she is well off enough to afford designer labels.

Explanation:

I came up with her after reading about the Tarot Card "Strength" over on Mike Surbrook's site. Some of the specs were there already: female, Irish, STR 70 or higher, 6 foot plus tall, red haired, etc. The idea of making her extremely intelligent, a Professor of Irish History and Mythology and an alumna of Dublin's Trinity University was mine, as was making her a gymnast, since I loved the idea of a brick being that flexible and being able to deliver a flying kick as if she was a TKD practitioner. No, mechanically she isn't balanced, but I was just building the character I thought she should be, ideally, and wasn't worrying about point totals. Sorry about that.
