pandora
hi everybody, a player wants to build a sort of "real life desktop tower defense nanomachine manipulator", specifically a guy which can "create" (aka summon, i guess) different types of turrets which, once summoned somewhere in the battlefield, would fire independently (and have their own body, like an object, a certain duration). any guesses? maybe for expert players is a simple thing
Christougher
Given that it acts independently of the character and has its own stats, you were right to think Summon. Everything else is just special effect. Chris.
pandora
ok thank you how would you simulate having multiple types of turrets? we guessed with multipower slots, but what actually the player wants to simulate is that once summoned, the turret stays and shoots, while the character is free to summon other turrets
pandora
now the HEADHUGGER: PC is an alien crab which controls people's minds when grasping their heads. Will be normally found attached to a human or superhuman host. Besides building a crab like creature (tiny, clinger, etc.) we thought this creature can be simulated with a huge multipower (with alternate combat value) including mind control, persistant, and telepathy (to check out the host powers and abilities). We were wondering if this is correct, and if the headhugger, not having human culture or skills would be actually able to use the host skills and powers, and to what degree. tombrown803
for the nanoturrent: you do not need a multipower, just use the expanded class advantage for summon to represent diffent types of turrents for the headhugger: Possession power from APG1 might be what you are looking for. Greywind
I always used a firearm to get them off. Although a saw blade with the grabbity gun was always fun.
psyber624
Note that even with summon he will have a limit on how many turrets he can have active at one time (determined when he buys the summon). Carefully monitor the "build" of the Summoned Turrets otherwise you could have a very overpowered ability there.
Christopher
Be aware that there can be a problem with Translating any Character or Concept from fiction to a RPG, simply because "What works in a Work of Fiction, does not nessesarily works in a RPG". Turret summonign seems straightforward: Summon, Expanded Class of being, Extra Total Creatures. The specific Turrets are propably build as Automatons with powers like "Takes no STUN". No Movement (and propably DCV). Maybe add Teamwork for "Coordinated Fire". Keep in mind that he has to order them around somehow. Summoner and turrets should share a way to communicate. And every form of Communication can be blocked, intercepted, and forged. This sound like technological in nature, so either Radio Communication or "Mind Link, Affected as Radio Group isntead of Mental Group (-0)". This could easily become a build too extreme - it could either be too usefull or too useless at any give time. Few turrets on decent points might be better then lot's of weak ones. Headhugger: Small Size Template. Good STR for Grabbing purposes Posession would be a obvious Choice, but technically Posession does not allow the hugger to stay attached (your orginal body can't act - not ever take it's Post Segment 12 recovery - while you are away) and (without advantage) even use his own senses. Still posession is the closest fit: It disables a foe and gives you new powers to work with, making it a mix of Mind Control ("Don't do anything") and Multiform/Power Mimik. A second approach would be to use the Posession varaint of Desolid from the same APG. It would have a large number of ways to be attacked (being still fully physical, but small). The approach of a Power Mimik would leave the question what happened to the Original body whsoe power as copied? By definition a headhuger takes the foe out while he controlls his powers. Again this built could get overpowering strong or uselessly weak.
