Salem
Hi All, I'm going to purchase a few Hero System books to get started in Fantasy Hero. I plan on getting the Hero System 6th core rulebook (characters/combat), Fantasy Hero, Bestiary and Grimoire. Are there any other books that would be helpful to start out with? Martial Arts for more combat options? Equipment Guide? Any other books that would be helpful?
Markdoc
I get a lot of use out of the martial arts book, but otherwise, I think you've got it covered. You could also do without the grimoire at a pinch - there's lots of fan generated spells on the net, and it's the book I use least out of that lot. cheers, Mark
Theros
Equipment guide is similar to Grimoire. There are equipments (mostly weapons and armors) to different settings. I have Grimoire and Equipment guide to ease players.
Lucius
Hi All, I'm going to purchase a few Hero System books to get started in Fantasy Hero. I plan on getting the Hero System 6th core rulebook (characters/combat), Can you still GET those? If so, great! If not, you might want Champions Complete. Yeah, yeah, the label says it's a superhero game, but it's got the core rules covered. Fantasy Hero, Bestiary and Grimoire. Are there any other books that would be helpful to start out with? Martial Arts for more combat options? Equipment Guide? Any other books that would be helpful? Martial Arts is a lot of fun, and not just for chop-socky "monk" type characters either. Besides the Bestiary, there are a number of "enemies" books like Monsters, Minions, and Marauders that have variety of foes for characters to battle or otherwise interact with. There is Fantasy Battlegrounds (or something like that) which has some scenarios to get you started. Don't worry too much if some book is 5th edition, there are differences but a lot of compatibility too. Lucius Alexander The Bestiary is useful but doesn't have a palindromedary
