BoloOfEarth
While researching stuff for various Champions adventures, I occasionally run across real-world people who are cool enough that I keep them as-is for my game world. I thought I'd present a couple, and ask if there's anybody that anyone here has used for similar purposes. First up is a person suitable for a mystic adventure, preferably involving vampires but also usable for plots about other undead. Jacques Sirgent (please forgive the Google translation of a French article) is the creator and curator of Le Musee des Vampires Et du Monde de l'Imaginaire (The Museum of Vampires and Legendary Creatures) in Paris. Sirgent is not just a collector of vampire and other undead materials and memorabilia; he's a bit of a scholar, a kind of "doctor of vampirology" who has written a book on vampires. BoloOfEarth
While researching a business innovation award for a PC's company for an upcoming adventure, I ran across BionX Medical Technologies (formerly iWalk) and its founder, Hugh Herr. He is a world-class prodigy rock climber (at age 8, he scaled the face of Mount Temple in the Canadian Rockies) who later had both his legs amputated below the knees due to severe frostbite after getting trapped on Mount Washington during a blizzard. He didn't let that stop him -- he designed his own prosthetic legs and feet, allowing him to continue rock climbing (even better than before). He is currently a professor at MIT and co-directs the MIT Center for Extreme Bionics. I'm not kidding. You can't make this s*** up.
