  1. Re: What are you playing now? My group is getting ready to start the second round of our Teen Champions game. My character is the spirit of a 12-year-old boy who was able to possess machines. He was in control of a bipedal unit when his body was killed. That action caused his "spirit/soul/essence" to fuse with the robot he was controlling. He is no longer able to possess machines, but he is able to create little robotic minions to help him do battle. He is also a halfway decent brick. Oh and he can create his own robotic girlfriends as well. Goes by the name of Mechboy.
  2. I am trying to create a robot that gathers information. I want to be able to either watch through its eyes from a remote location, or have it record information and then replay at a later time or project it onto a wall. How would one go about doing this? The robot itself is not important, its the power builds. I have been thinking about it for a week or so and have gotten mainly just a headache. So any help from my fellow herophiles would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Re: Endurance Reserve Question Thanks again for all the info guys. I shared this with my GM and he talked to the player. The player did indead not understand alot of what he put into the character. From what I understand he went back to the drawing board with Origami. Hopefully he will have her fixed for our next game.
  4. Re: Endurance Reserve Question The game is a standard supers game. The players are members of a supers team working for UNTIL. We are called UNITY West, based out of NORAD. As of late we have been dealing with The Ultimates. We are in Africa right now dealing with a world wide blood crisis. I dont think he fully understands/interprets the rules correctly, and he can at times be a munkinizer with his characters. He loves VPPs. This is his second attempt with this character. Thanks again for all the help. Think I am gonna head off to the game and chat with the GM about above info.. since he doesnt read the boards.
  5. Re: Endurance Reserve Question Maybe this will help. Here is the entire character in question. I am not quite sure how to post it in different formats.. like the window you can scroll up and down in.. so please excuse my clumsy posting abilities. I have also included the background so you can get an idea of what my friend is trying to do. Thanks for all the imput. Its of great help. Also, he didnt pay the +1/4 to use end from both his personal and from the reserve. So I presume he is only using it from the reserve. It doesnt say. She was educated at Oxford and holds a bachelor of arts in literature. Her education in paper mastery, however, came from her grandfather. As a child she spent hours pouring through his personal library. It was in his library that she developed her undying love of books. When her grandfather died, she came into her personal fortune and his library. After relocating to New York, Rebecca became a rare book dealer. Buying, selling, and trading rare finds around the world. She also began using her paper mastery to "rescue" lost texts from the annals of history. For this ability, Rebecca has a very exclusive list of clientele. She has performed work on several occasions for clients such as the Vatican and the Queen of England. Often trading her services for access to secret or forbidden libraries and books. Rebecca is a junior member of the Rhodes Society. A group founded by Her Majesty to protect the arts in all its forms, often with extreme prejudice. She often goes on assignment for the society to recover lost or stolen books. It is through the society that she came to know Hans Kruger, a renowned art thief. Hans has made it his life's goal to beat Rebecca at her own game, and thwart her efforts for the society. Personality/Motivation: To say Rebecca loves books is the understatement of the year. She doesn't just love books, she adores them, and will gladly spend huge amounts of money purchasing books in such massive quantities her picture is posted in bookstores around New York with the comment "Most important customer. Please say hi to her." Her penthouse apartment is the top three floors of a building on the west side of central park, which she purchased with her inheritance and rare book dealing profits. Her apartment is a library unto itself, crammed with books stacked from floor to ceiling. Rebecca does more than buy books, of course, she also reads them, and if not shopping for books, can usually be found reading one, especially if passing the time while traveling or waiting. Rebecca adores books to the extent that she cannot stand to see books come to harm. Though she does make a distinction between books and waste of paper (dime store romance novels and the like). If asked the question "What is more important, your life or this book?" Rebecca will have to spend a moment thinking about the answer. As Rebecca is terribly nearsighted, she is highly protective of her glasses, and will not tolerate anyone trying to tough them. Quote: Please give me back my book! Powers/Tactics: Rebecca's powers are based on the manipulation of paper. She can use paper for just about any task. Hardening it for defense, sharpening it for attacks, or forming it into useful tools and automatons. Campaign Use: Appearance: Rebecca is 25 years old, and stands roughly 5'7". She has black hair that falls to her mid-back, blue eyes, and a nicely endowed figure. Her regular "costume" consists of black dress, white long-sleeved shirt, brown vest, dark red tie, and black shoes. Over this she wears a tan jacket and always has two or more books tucked in the pockets. Rebecca is actually quite attractive (she could have a COM of 20 if she tried), but between her normal mode of dress and her glasses (which she adjusts often) this fact is easily overlooked.
  6. That depends entirely on what the Limitations on the extra SPD are. If the Limitations prevent that SPD from recovering from being Stunned*, then he can’t use his extra Phases to do so. If they don’t, he can. *: Note — recovering from being Stunned is different from taking a Recovery, as explained in the rulebook, but based on your question that’s what I think you’re asking about, not Recovering. His limited speed is as follows +3 SPD (30 Active Points); Conditional Power Power does not work in Common Circumstances (Only for Magic; -½) He has a VPP magic pool that the only for magic part refering to. Would said speed allow him to recover from being CON stunned or to take a regular recovery? This kinda of brought our game to a stand still and the group was divided. The GM made a on the spot desision and I told him I would get an official answer from the Hero God for the next time it happens. Thanks again for all of your help.
  7. Re: Endurance Reserve Question Thanks for the quick response guys. I will pass this info on to my GM to look over.
  8. Hey all, I have a question for you all. In the Champions game I play in one of the other players has an Endurance Reserve as follows Magic Amulet: Endurance Reserve (25 END, 0 REC) Reserve: (2 Active Points); Limited Recovery (Must use personal end to recharge; -2), OIF (-½); REC: (0 Active Points) Wouldnt a REC of 0 mean that once he has used up the END it would be empty for good? I am thinking yes, but I am not 100% sure of this. Maybe it recharges like 1 end per hour or day or some such thing. Also what is your take on the limited recovery in the above END RES? I think his -2 is way way to high. I would think a -1/4 at most since said character has 40 END and 10 REC. Since it is at a 0 REC he wouldnt be able to get any END from his personal stash anyways... right? Thanks all.
  9. Hey Steve, I thought I read this question a few months back but I couldnt remember, and after much searching I could not find it. It came up in my last gaming session. The Character in this example has 6 speed (3 regular and 3 limited). If the character was stunned after a regular phase, but before a limited phase, would said character be able to take a recovery in their limited phase? Or would they have to wait until their regular phase to take thier recovery? If the answer is that they can only take their recovery in their regular phase, would they be done with their recovery at the start of their next limited phase, or would they have to wait until the start of their next regular phase to be finished? I hope this last part makes sense. Thank you very much for your time.
  10. Re: Armed Forces write ups Hey Ogilvie. Ask Gallaway if you can borrow a few of his books.
  11. Hey Steve, My group is getting ready to start a Tuala Morn game (which is fabulous btw). One of the players is going to be playing a Troll-Blooded Warrior. He wants to take the optional ability of Mystic Affinity which allows a character to have 10 points worth of Magic Perks and Spells. Are non magic professions allowed to take that option? Or is that only for Druids, Wizards, and Witches? If it is allowed, which profession do they go by for ranks to purchase their spells? I couldnt find anything in Tuala Morn to say they couldnt do that, but I couldnt find anything saying they could. Thank you
  12. Re: Why do we object to mechanics? The mechanic I object to the most is the hit location chart. The chance to hit a foot or hand is to great. It should be an 18 on 3d6 at the most. There is nothing more frustrating then being in a Pulp game with a two fisted hero and scoring a nice hit with your fist, only to hit the guy in the foot. It just doesn’t make sense. I could see hitting a foot with a bullet if you were a long way off and shooting at someone that was just a dot. Or if the person didn’t know how to use a weapon. But a person who knows how to use a weapon is just not going to hit a foot or hand unless they are trying to do so. Because of this I now equip all my pulp characters at least 2 PSL for hit locations and go for high shots. At least thats how I feel about it.
  13. Re: What power sets do you like, but never play? A Energy projector who schtick is fire based. I love fire powers. But someone else in the group always tends to be the energy projector. A nature based character. Animal summoning, Plants bloom whenever your around, weather control. But it never works out. The groups tend to spend alot of time in buildings and in sewers. I dont think we have ever left the city, except for the times we played Super Villians... then we tended to be out of the city alot. hmmm. A shriking duplicator. Character can shrink and make a small army of him/her self. Think Army Men. Tanks, Special Forces, Grenades. Overwelm the enemy with tiny annoying needle like bullets. muahaha. A character who is luck based. I made one and tried to play her, but the GM didnt like dealing with luck so a majority of her points didnt do anthing.
  14. Re: Your personal comic book origins For me it was Dazzler. A friend of mine in highschool had a full set of the Dazzler comic and he sold it to me. I really enjoyed the character, and she is still my all time fave. That led me into the X-Books. Now that I think about it, I was reading Elf Quest before I started Dazzler. I was big time hooked on Wendy and Richards Work. But Dazzler is what led me into reading standard Superhero comics.
  15. I have a question for you about bricks using Improvised weapons (ie cars, light poles, etc) in combat. Does a brick need to have the power skill "brick tricks" to use a car as an area of effect attack? Or to use a light pole to attack someone more then one hex away (ie streching)? Thank you O Master of the rules. Wolven - rules Padawan.
