  1. Re: Combo Attacks?

Another way to look at it in a VPP is this.

    Frog & Chrono's Cross Slash

    Chrono Normal Slash (Outside VPP):

2d6-1 HKA, Area of Effect(Line), No Range

    Chrono Cross Slash (In VPP):

3d6 HKA, Area of Effect(Line), No Range, RSR(Teamwork), Power Fails To Activate if Frog Fails RSR(Teamwork) or Cannot Activate His Cross Slash Power during Same Phase(-2)

    Frog Normal Slash (Outside VPP):

2d6-1 HKA, Area of Effect(Line), No Range

    Frog Cross Slash (In VPP):

3d6 HKA, Area of Effect(Line), No Range, RSR(Teamwork), Power Fails To Activate if Chrono Fails RSR(Teamwork) or Cannot Activate His Cross Slash Power during Same Phase(-2)

The VPP for Combo Powers is Built with: All Powers Must be Based Upon Existing Powers Outside VPP(-1 1/2), All Powers Require Combination of Power with One or More Party(-1)

The VPP would be dirt cheap and you could permit players to use the VPP to simulate powers outside the VPP at higher Damage Classes.

In the above, sample power, Frog and Chrono would get multiple attacker bonuses as well as Suprise Move unless it has been used before. Assuming both hit you would be looking at 3d6(x1d6-1 Stun) + 3d6(x1d6-1 Stun).

    Sample Roll Up:

    4 + 1 + 1 x4. 6 BODY 24 STUN

    3 + 4 + 5 x5. 12 BODY 60 STUN

Target would take 84 STUN for purposes of determining stunning.

I had something of a problem with this myself. I was playing a character who can combine his powers to get new hooks on his powers. The solution is a VPP. Just' date=' in this case, it needs Requires Multiple Users.[/quote']

  3. Re: Combo Attacks?

Okay, you may have read my World of Edean thread. It's no where near completion, but I am running out of year. One thing I'd like to add is the option of combo attacks. So, help me out o' players of Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, BOF, and Suikoden

How would you model the two (or more) character special attacks?

Simply buy the attack at half (or less) strength for each "member" of the team and combine damage assuming of course that they make their Teamwork and To Hit rolls?

    Is there a better way?

  4. Re: I really hate when this happens!!!

    Thanks Super Squirrel:

It has been quite rough...and I feel it's just going to get progressively worse under George W. Bush. Finances for me took a nosedive when the first George Bush was in office...but this time it's worse.

I admit it...I am not a fan of our current administration.

Makes me wonder if things continue with the way they are going right now, with soaring gas prices, Bush's "War on Terror" (this generation's Vietnam), etc. if we aren't going to experience the next "Great Depression".

Well, if you want to discuss the economy, I recommend talking on the NGD about it. As far as buying Pulp gaming materials, it is going to be difficult for me. My credit just took a significant improvement and I'm highly debating using my new credit card to buy Pulp Hero (only if Hard Cover is on the online store).

Someone is going to skewer me for this' date=' but what would be a good racial template for a species of six-foot-tall sentient chickens?[/quote']Nah, just deep fry you.
  6. Re: Naked Power Advantage Complications [PG13+]

I actually think that the Trigger, Charges combo will work well. It also means the player can expend XP to raise the active point cap on it and charges on it if she wishes it to get better. Plus it isn't as messy as an END Reserve. The player is a quasi-d20 convert so giving her complicated END Reserves to mess around with isn't worth it to me.

  7. Re: Announcing — HERO PLUS ADVENTURES!

Okay, so Steve Long is writing about 1 HPA a day. They sell at $3.00 a pop. Assuming that each HPA sells four copies on the first day and a 10% chance per day there after of selling another. Let me see... carry the one, subtract the seven, cross the t, dot the i. That's a LOT of money.

  8. Re: Naked Power Advantage Complications [PG13+]

The one time I wrote up a tantric magician' date=' his rituals fed an End Reserve than fueled his spells. Dunno if that will help, but it's an idea you might want to work with.[/quote']

I thought about that when I was designing the magic, but I liked the idea of different rituals give you different spells, not one ritual to recharge your energies.

  9. Re: Naked Power Advantage Complications [PG13+]

The power is meant to be as an extra ability. Spells in this campaign are simply 1 point Perks. This is a full fledged ability for the player to make their spells more useful. Also, the spell could be stored for an indefinite period of time before used.

I was thinking their might be some way to do the Trigger and Charges together to form a power legal Naked Advantage. I just can't figure out how to do that. The powers don't natively have charges, but I have no problem putting a Charges limitation with the Trigger. I'm trying to keep this power skill as "rules legal" as possible.

  10. Re: pulp hero over opinions?

Well if you consider your average pulp covers normally look like this:

    http://www.imagenetion.com/supercoll/pulpart3/pages/p-Pulp_Art_060_H_J_Ward.htm

Or this: (Not Really all that Safe for Work)

    http://www.imagenetion.com/supercoll/pulpart3/pages/p-Pulp_Art_059_Margaret_Brundage.htm

    Or maybe this:

    http://www.photonetion1.com/pinot/pulpart1/pages/p-Pulp_Art_010_H_J_Ward.htm

    Or this:

    http://www.photonetion1.com/pinot/pulpart2/pages/p-Pulp_Art_032_Rafael_de_Soto.htm

I think the art work is pretty good for the cover. It has action, adventure, and thrilling places all in the cover.

  11. One of the players in my fantasy game has Tantric Magic. All of the player's spells come from bedside rituals. The player has several spells they want to take outside of the bedroom and into game. For example, Tantric Healing. There are multiple reasons for this, one being that you can't sleep with an unconscious person. And that and the spell itself takes an hour to cast.

I'm using a Group Naked Advantage to represent this but there is a problem with getting this working properly.

First, Trigger allows you to only setup a single one unless it has a Focus or Charges. The problem is, none of the Tantric spells in the game have Charges or Focus involved.

The Naked Advantage would affect no power with great than 20 Active Points. The Naked Advantage will also have Limited Power(Doesn't Work on Any Tantric Spell that require sleeping with the Target; -1/4).

Thanks in advance for you input.

  12. Re: I really hate when this happens!!!

    PULP HERO!!!

It's the one genre book I have really been looking forward to...and money is just too tight. Having trouble just making ends meet, as it were.

I've gone from in a six month span of having quite a bit of "disposable income", to just barely living "from paycheck to paycheck". My lady has been out of work for over a year now, and the savings are gone. She's been awfully depressed because she can't find work. HELL...she's even applied to "fast food" joint's, and can't even get a job there. She's over 50, had heart problems shortly after she lost her last job (they had to place a stent in one of her arteries to relieve the blockage).

I hope that things get better. I have tried to remain optomistic...but it does get tougher as time goes on.

I know that this is probably the wrong forum to place this post...just needed a place to vent my frustrations.

I wish the best for you. I'm not buying the Pulp Dime Adventure thingies because right now it is more important that I have the money to buy Pulp Hero. Living, barely able to make ends meet is quite difficult.
