  1. Re: Aldaric Gaming Presents: Easthaven

I added in the guidelines section today. The spell system is partially converted over but is not fully available yet. I should be able to get the spell system finished either tonight or tommorrow. I'll also add in a threat system to cover from generic bad guys to monsters such as my infamous Blemish.

Spell System and Threats should be the only two database systems that need to be set up before everything you could want for a fantasy setting is in place. Then it is a matter of putting in the special features to make the site look good.

  2. Re: Independent without Foci

    Tattoo of Shadow Flames:

6d6 EB, NND(+1), Does Body(+1), (90 Active Points); Independent (-2), Requires physical contact with the Shadow Flames Tattoo to Use (-1/2). Total Cost: 26

During the magus wars, the Crimson Warriors would inscribe shadow flame tattoos on the prisons of war. With the prisoners restrained properly from activating the tatoo itself, the warriors would take the prisoners into the battle field and use them as human shields in combat. This would later backfire on the Crimson Warriors when a well planned attack managed to free a dozen prisoners. With weapons of their own creation turned against them, the Crimson Warriors found themselves quickly defeated.

  3. Re: Aldaric Gaming Presents: Easthaven

You can now create, edit, and view Non-Playing Characters and Villains. Villains display in red text if your permission level is high enough to be able to tell the difference.

I also increased default security levels allowing anyone to create new entries. So if you want to be able to create items or something else entirely, you now can do so.

  4. Re: Carrying a Big Stick -- Clubs, How Much Damage?

    Good point.

Check "Outdoor Items, Misc." in the Object Table on page 448 of 5er (the "Breaking Things" sub-chaper.) It's got the DEF and BODY of a Flagpole, I Beam, Railroad Track, Telephone Pole, and a few other good things...

    Fifth Revised Edition page 448.

Take the DEF of the object and add it to the BODY. That is the maximum in dice I'd allow an object to do when used as a club.

  5. If you have a campaign world where magic is common (High Fantasy) but the game point level is low (25+50: Low Fantasy) and Magic is an Expensive System to be able to use.

I'm using the True Gift system so the typical spell category is going to cost a person 13 points for full mastery and their are six spell categories in total.

Would this be considered High Fantasy or Low Fantasy?

  6. Re: VPP Nightmare!

I can't see the sheet here but I'd make this simple.

It is a gadgeteer system. She needs to provide write-ups of the gadgets she creates. If it isn't electricity she needs to specify the energy source. Oh, and for future reference, just because she gives herself LS: Immortality and LS: Doesn't Eat doesn't mean you can't mess with that notion. She finds herself, upon awaking frozen under the glacier or aboard an alien ship or some sort of Time Travel Enforcer is preventing her now from causing a paradox.

Because I don't want search bots spidering the information. But I just took the extra steps needed so that you can use the guest account to view information.

If you want to view the information without registering you can use login guest and password guest.

  8. I am proud to announce the first ever Hero System community developed campaign setting. The Easthaven Campaign is a High Fantasy game setting where heroes start weak and must work their way up to become powerful heroes.

The Ivory Tower system that allows for multi-user development is a project Aldaric Gaming has been designing for more than two months now. Based, loosely on the concept behind Wikipedia. You need only register an account and you can immediately begin editting the selections available. Because the Ivory Tower system is far from finished, new submissions are currently restricted. If you would like to be able to create new items all you need to do is ask at this time.

The Ivory Tower system is not finished by a long shot. Their are many features that are on my to-do list to be added later. At the time of this post, the site currently allows development of settlements, guilds, heroes, items, points of interest, and historical entries.

Feel free to register and improve the campaign world. I keep edit archives of all entries so cases of information being deleted, the information can be restored.

Please feel free to post any feedback on the site (good or bad) here or on my Aldaric Gaming forum. I'm aware of most of the problems so far on the site, but you might have something I hadn't thought of.

  9. Re: Teen Champion Cover!

I guess there's no pleasing some people. :straight:

I think the cover is great.

Agreed. I look at other gaming book covers and it makes me appreciate what Hero Games uses. This one certainly isn't a Five Star cover but isn't a bad cover either. I happen to like it.

  10. Re: That way lies only madness...

I would also argue that the impact effect is not covered under IPE - unless you bought IPE to Hide Effects. So you get shot with an IPE Gun - the bullet wound is still there. a Forensic Medicine check after the fact will tell you where the shooter was. In combat? Not bloody likely. You get shot with an IPE Hide Effects Gun and you fall over, no entry wound (that would need some FX explaining for sure - microwave guns anyone?)

Still doesn't change the fact that IPE hides both the power and the source to the sense bought. Other senses are left up to dramatic sense or if they have targeting for the remaining senses the power is percievable by.

I would say if it has No Knockback it would be true. But a forensic medicine looks at more than just bullet wound. If someone shoots me in the shoulder, the impact twists the body a certain way based on the impact. I would permit a player (with heavy penalty) to make a SS: Physics complementary, Forensic Medicine check to determine where the shot came from. However, a power bought IPE(Full) with No Knockback would give nothing to them. IPE(Full) with Indirect would give them a false answer.
  11. Re: Consequences of failed Demolitions check?

I would have players roll Demolitions to see if they know HOW to disarm a bomb. If they fail, they simply do not know. If they botch on a roll of an 18, you could say they thought the bomb was so simple anyone could do it and cut a fail safe shortening the countdown or something like that. But the Demolitions roll shouldn't be assumed that they are actively disarming the roll.
