Re: Name That Band Hero!
Well done! I'm glad there's someone else who remembers when Jefferson (Whatever) was actually worth listening to. That was too easy' date=' wasn't it?[/quote']Well, I did recognize 3 of the 5 songs right away; so I guess that would be a yes.

Re: Name That Band Hero!
A group that calls itself "Tom's Flying Machine":Red Octopus: a pulsing, blood-red horror that looks like a D&D Mind Flayer but with more tentacles; actually a Sonic Projector, with no external ears
Lather: raving psychotic HTH fighter who specializes in freeform mayhem and literally froths at the mouth
Plastic Fantastic Lover: an incubus animating a department-store mannequin; PRE attacks, EGO-based powers and out-of-this-world Seduction, Acting and Conversation skills
Volunteers: duplicator who dresses in a Salvation Army uniform; always has at least one duplicate on hand
White Rabbit: aka "Thomas", team leader and former forensic psychologist; Mental Illusionist who wears a waistcoat and likes to play with people's minds
This would be Jefferson Airplane (although Red Octopus was actually done when they were Starship).

Re: Name That Band Hero!
Here's another team:
Cannonball – just like in the X-books; just a bit older and meaner
Asylum – disturbed psionic with multiple personalities
Sister Moonshine – energy-projector with lunar-based powers
Dreamer – mentalist able to enter another’s dreamscape
Lover Boy – Hollywood-hunk brick

Re: Flying, mini's and combat
I second the "long leg plus half the short leg" method. I've run the numbers' date=' and it's definitely close enough for the convenience.[/quote'] There's a good quick-reference Excel chart here in the Free Stuff section. -
Re: Name That Band Hero!
I guess that I'll be embarrassed, too. I've always liked their stuff. That one I know (embarrasingly): Heart. -
Re: Name That Band Hero!
Yet another villain team:White Sun: light-energy projector
Natural Thing: earth & stone powers
Evil Woman: mystic
Disciple: Evil Woman’s sidekick
Black Water: water powers combined with darkness powers using water as an sfx
Dangerous: I’m thinking a vicious super martial artist,
Cotton Mouth: (isn’t there already a CU villain by this name?)
I do believe this is the Doobies, yes? Great choices of songs.

Re: Name That Band Hero!
Since no one guessed my last band, here's another one:
Mistral Wind – wind and cold projector
Ambush – stealthy, shadow-lurking, cheap shot artist
Magic Man – spell caster; user of relics and artifacts
Barracuda – water-breathing mutant; with bionic jaws and razor-sharp teeth
Shell Shock – electricity-projecting power armor villain
-
Re: Name That Band Hero!
Mister Man – brick with a somewhat low IQ; talks in the third personStormkeeper – weather controller
Mannequin – shape-changing metamorph; has no real features of her own
The Dream – dream and emotion manipulating mentalist
Melting Pot – mutant mimic; takes on powers of others in his vicinity
Still no guesses on this one? I know it's not the music we usually listen to around here, but I didn't think it was that obscure. I thought that someone would know the answer.

Re: The Legacy Champions Lives On!
Congrats to you Archer. It does my heart good to know that, in this age of video gaming, some of the next generation are taking up the roleplaying hobby.
My daughter has been asking me to run a small game for her. I'm thinking maybe Pokeman, Kim Possible, or Danny Phantom.

Re: Name That Band Hero!
Then I have to add:Hollywood - a "starlet" supervillianess. Some energy blasts, and mind control.
Someday - a precog/time manipulator. One of his tricks is a missle D/Reflect that moves through time.
Animals - A shapeshifter with duplication that changes into swarms and packs of animals.
Rockstar - Hollywood's Lover. Sonic attacks, guitar.
I believe these are from Nickelback.

Re: Name That Band Hero!
Every song from 1990 onwards:Zulu Lulu - Voodoo Priestess
The Tower - Growth Brick
Silver Wings - Flying Brick, with big "angel" wings
Just a trio though (ran out of time to type! Gotta go)
Bruce Dickinson
-
Re: Name That Band Hero!
Crystal Flame – cold-fire energy projector
Onslaught – Move-through using brick (huge amounts of damage)
Run-Around - speedster
Psycho Joe – severely disturbed mentalist
The One – duplicator with a sense of humor
Rubberneck – stretching metamorph
-
Re: Name That Band Hero!
Crossfire – Weapons master/sniper
Lightning’s Hand – electrical energy-projector (obviously)
Loner – super-stealthy martial artists
Magnum Opus – music-mage (VPP)
Paradox – reality- or time-manipulating powers
Rainmaker – weather shaman
Relentless – ultra-brick
The Wall – force wall projector
-

Re: WE HAVE A WINNER! First quasi-Manual, Demi-Annual, Homegrown Mod Contest!
Suh-weet! Two of my... ahem, I mean Redmenace's mods are winners. Well, I guess I can take a teeny bit of credit. They are my characters, after all.
Congrats to all the winning modders.
(Hey, Hooligan. I think that your text for the 3rd place link should read "Silhouette").

Re: Dark Champions: Secret Worlds
Excellent. I'll have to go check it out. I always enjoy your writeups (I still have the original DC:SW writeups saved with my gaming fiction).

Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous)
I actually ran a Play by Post game that was a Killing Game Show. I never got to finish it however.Sounds like a cool game. "Fictional" reality TV is OK. It's the "real" reality TV that stinks like @$$.

Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.
Here is another Nighthawk concept. I think this is about the 4th I've done in the last two years... and that is not counting the actual Hero Games character.Hey. I don't mind.
Very, very cool, Storn.
Is there any chance we might see the other three versions?

Olympics HERO
Curling HERO (sub-genre)

Re: Battlesuits: Too efficient and flexible?
Thanks for the Rep, bdh. I wish I could take credit for the limitation, but the folks at Global Guardians get that credit. I just wanted to bring it to everyone's attention here. I think its a great way to model 'suits, and the way they are damaged.

Re: Duke (art and characters)
Great job on these pics, Duke. I especially like the raksasha (like everyone else, it seems).

Re: A Thread for Random Musings
Well, President's Day Weekend has passed; another DundraCon is over, and I still haven't been able to attend one. I still haven't had the opportunity to meet any of the great people from here on the boards either.
Next year, even if I have to walk from Boise to San Ramon, I will be at DDC. It always sounds like everyone has such a great weekend of gaming. I plan on being a part of that the next time around.

Re: PRIMUS or UNTIL
We're using PRIMUS in our campaign. My character SCEPTRE is actually the leader of the NY base's superteam.
I've been tempted to buy the PRIMUS e-book, and now after hearing all the praise for it I guess I'm going to have to break down and get it.
