  1. Re: Ctrl+V Sadiq is a former Santa Barbara police officer who had a bright career ahead of him until September 11th. In the months following the terrorist attack, his family received more and more threats until his wife and daughter were murdered in early 2002. Despite an outpouring of support from the community, Sadiq could no longer perform his job and resigned in the wake of his family's murder. Sadiq sold most of his belongings, including his house, and left on an old motorcycle he purchased used. He lived on his savings from time-to-time, but spent much of the last decade bumming couches, sleeping in shelters, and sleeping behind restaurants or in dark city parks. Over the course of the last few years his savings has dwindled and thoughts of returning to Santa Barbara have crossed his mind. He has always avoided California in his travels. As an officer, he was part of a then-new unit of cyber detectives, but has resorted to using these same skills to sometimes commit fraud. Always in small amounts, but the very act has torn his morals further. He has already given up on his religious beliefs. And yet, even in the midst of an ever-growing madness inside him, he always chooses to help those he sees in need. Stopping bar-fights, catching purse-snatchers, and giving what little food he has to the homeless he meets. He knows that he's at a cross-roads in his life. And its this belief that has led him to investigate a flyer he found while passing through Chicago. He makes it a point to attend events in cities he visits, but this particular even feels different...

  9. Re: Ctrl+V The PCs were taking a long road trip over Memorial Day weekend to investigate some weirdness in Centralia, Pennsylvania. One of the characters--who had been working as a DJ at a club--took up driving duties. Having been up the night before, I asked him for a Driving roll....which he completely botched. Things escalated from one into another, with three of the four PCs dying in a multi-car pileup. I felt horrible after that game, as everyone was really enjoying the investigative aspects and interplay between PCs. And it all got tossed, on a few botched driving tests.

  14. Re: Fantasy Economies: How closely should we examine them? Are you talking about the rules by themselves, or specific settings (like Greyhawk or Forgotten Realms)? Because, if it's the latter, some settings do make mention of how magic has impacted daily life (such as continual flame streetlamps) and, make mention (if only a little) on how magic specifically impacts the economy.
