  1. Re: Need clues and style of lackeys for a kidnap plot

I think part of the solution lies in upping the stakes for Nergal. Maybe his ability to inhabit new forms is finally weakening after a hundred thousand lifetimes. He must find someone whose incredible metabolism can balance his own spiritual fatigue.

Hey, how about this - maybe Nergal comes to the PCs asking for their help! If you've never pulled a move like this, it will throw your players for a loop. And, between you and me, I'd make Nergal's request totally sincere. It turns the dynamic on its head - but this is exactly the right time in your story arc to do that if you are going to do it.

    Will the players help Nergal?

Will they be needed for the ritual?

Will Natalia (if I'm spelling her/its name right) agree to the transfer?

Will she and Nergal somehow share her body?

Will their personalties form a synthesis? Or will they struggle against each other forever trapped in the same mind?

... or will an entirely new character be brought to life!

    Anway,, dat's my take.

  2. Steve (& other readers),

I apologize if this ground was previously covered, but I couldn't find an answer in any of the usual resources ...

How is the Shove maneuver (in the table on page 9 of Ultimate Martial Artist) constructed? I can't figure out what its Maneuver Basis is. From what I can glean (on pgs. 145 and 149 of UMA), Grab & Shove and Shove are related, but distinct, maneuvers.

I keep trying to reverse engineer how Shove would be paid for, and it looks like it's a +0 point maneuver that just isn't listed anywhere.

    Thanks for your time,

    Charles Picard

  3. Hello Steve,

Just had a quick one for you: can a character be stunned and still standing? (Or does getting stunned automatically knock you down?)

In every campaign I've been in and, come to think of it, every tournament game I can recall, if a character is stunned this is indicated by laying his/her/its counter down. Now, usually if you get your bell rung enough to be stunned you've at least been knocked down. But this is by no means always the case. Obviously this could make a huge difference in combat. If a character can recover and still be on his/her/its feet then there's a half phase somewhere that doesn't have to be burned.

Have I been playing this wrong all these years? There's no mention in 5E of ending up prone from being stunned.

I'm pretty sure of what you're going to say, but I'd love to see it in black and white!

    Thanks,

    Charles Picard

  4. ...anywhere! I looked in the online store, and I only found damaged copies. Where are the undamaged copies?

I looked here, at FRP games, as I saw them posting in one of the threads here, Barnes and Noble, and none have the game. If it is currently out of stock, when will you be printing new copies? I played Champions only once or twice before the group I was playing with disbanded, but I always loved the game.

Seeing X2 has gotten me back into wanting to play some super heroes again. I'm a little impulsive, I know. Anyway, can you help a fellow comic book RPG lover out?

Also, for a superhero campaign would I need to buy the Champions Universe book, as well, or just one, or both, if I want to run a Champions game. In other words, is the Hero System a generic rules set, while if you just want a super hero RPG, you get the Champions book? I'm a little confused on that.
