  1. Re: Seacouver, Washington: take 3

You could do Seacover on the north California coast' date=' and get rid of that blasted everlasting rain. :D[/quote']

Or you could do it on the Olympic Peninsula (in the rainshadow of, I'm not kidding, Mt. Olympus) and get the same effect.

Of course, this would posit a large metropolis that doesn't exist there now...

  2. Re: HALO Hero?

I started the Halo Hero? thread with a question over a year ago and I'm just blown away by how it's grown!

REP to Thia for all the hard work here and in the Hero: Combat Evolved thread.

  3. Re: Seacouver, Washington: take 3

Seacouver (at least your version of it) could also be home to the local

branch of a corporation -- for example, the one owned by Bruce Wayne

(I forget what it's called). This would allow the occasional "guest star"

appearance of a certain Darknight Detective in the area (of course,

precautions would have to be taken to ensure that absolutely no con-

nection whatsoever be made between Wayne's presence in Seacouver

    and Batman's nocturnal activities).

In that same vein, Batman could be prowling the rooftops of Seacouver

during an investigation when his attention is drawn to a sudden lightning

storm coming from out of nowhere...

    Major Tom :D

I like the idea of corporations playing a role. (They certainly do in real life. And tech companies play such a big role here... or it certainly seems that they do.)

Boeing and Microsoft are in the news a heck of a lot here...

  4. Don't get me wrong, I like a good decompression scene as much as the next guy: people and garbage flying around, screaming, bodies ejected into space to become Popsicles ... and, if it's a big-budget Hollywood flick, you can bet on some badass CGI.

    However...

Would it really happen that way... really?

Wouldn't the difference in pressure be 1 atmosphere to 0 atmospheres?

Heck, I'm not the physics guy, but I'd love it if someone could explain to me if what we see all the time on the big screen is even halfway "realistic."

  5. Re: Seacouver, Washington: take 3

Well, what you mention seems to feel like the Puget Sound area, where I'm lucky enough to live now, and the name is an obvious nod... I certainly vote for West Coast. (And Mariner's fans will be able to explain to you just how active the railroads still are in this area!)

Maybe a little Google Maps action could help you pick out a spot? Or you maybe more interested it having the location never quite nailed down?

  6. Re: GMing a Post Apocalypse campaign

I however would *not* recommend reworking Hero into the SPECIAL stats. Keep HERO the way it is and just use the Fallout setting. Hero is complicated enough without having to rethink the stats. You can create the "perks" relatively easily as well as packages too.

Here, here. I second this motion.

  7. Re: GMing a Post Apocalypse campaign

Quick question: Would it be lame and/or cheesy to set the game directly in the fallout milieu? I really like the flavour (and having a lot of the work already done :()' date=' but I don't want it to feel like a cop-out[/quote']

    Hey K7, welcome aboard.

I've been thinking of running a PA game sometime soon myself so your post caught my eye.

I think you should use whatever gets you into the setting. IMHO most games like this quickly morph into whatever you and the players are interested in. The most important thing is to have everybody more or less on board when you start. After that, you'll know where to go.

And have a little REP to get you started...

  8. Re: the Superdie

Maybe take the bubble off of the 1' date=' so that, besides the pips, you have a huge visual reminder of how many BODY it does. No bubble = no BODY, basic bubble = 1 BODY, ultra-spiky-bubble = 2 BODY.[/quote']

    I agree.

Would it be too fussy to have slightly more complex bubbles up to the ultra-spiky 2 BODY style?

  9. Re: Your Favorite Steve Long Post?

It always amazes me that Steve does not have more rep. I mean' date=' a lot of his posts are authoritatively answering specific questions, and that has to be worth the courtesy of rep, even if they DO often contain the dread CDS :)[/quote']

It could have something with the people asking the questions. I think there are a lot of folks who create a sign in just long enough to ask a couple of things and then disappear into the ether again.

    But, still, good point.

How many line developers are online everyday answering questions big and small about their game/system? I'm gonna rep up Steve the next chance I get.

  10. Re: Adventures?

What LL said -- the Hero Plus Adventures are almost all for Pulp Hero' date=' and darn fun if I do say so m'self. ;)[/quote']

Yes, delicious, and in almost every flavor you can imagine. :D

  11. Hey Gang,

I've been thinking of developing a character whose schtick is Bouncing...

But every time I sit down to write it up, I can't decide on which way to go with the mechanics: Leaping built with an Endurance battery that can only be charged by absorbing kinetic energy, Flight with limitations, etc., etc.

I'd prefer not to damn myself with a power that requires tons of book-keeping, but I'd like for it to be at least a little "realistic" at least in game terms.

    Any thoughts?

  12. Re: Brick Collection (Spin off from Normal Proofing Bricks)

I don't have the sheet, but the GM in my old campaign ran an NPC named Dr. Armor, who was a little like Colossus, except he could fly/glide on magnetic fields.

Other than that he had a 50 STR/50 CON + Knockback Resistance.

And, the good Doctor was indeed a medical doctor who had a free clinic, that was continually getting destroyed by his arch enemy, Ogre.

  13. Re: Digital Hero Pulp Index

Mine is the Dordogne ZodiacEdit: Wow! I did not realize how many new ones are added. Several look really fun. Oh well' date=' what's another $20 to test them out.[/quote']

    Now that's the spirit!

  14. Re: Digital Hero Pulp Index

I don't know if this exists or not, but I was just noticing yesterday the amazing variety of Pulp Hero adventures and resources in the Online Store in the E-books/Pdfs section. These mini-supplements seem to be between $3-$5 and look like a lot of fun. I believe that price point is similar to DH.

    good luck!
