  1. Re: An odd little question Sorry about that - this would be Hero System 6th edition. I guess I would have to design the Goose!
  2. For my Birthday I was gifted a copy of "Tales of the Gold Monkey" complete series on DVD. I thought this would make for a fun quick campaign idea to use Hero System. I do hope to do a Champions game but that (due to availability of players and time) won't start till the fall and I would love to kick the tires with a filler campaign. Since I am new to the system I was wondering what character point level people would recomend for an Indiana Jones knock off? 100pts? 200pts? This would be a pulp adventure but not too powerful. There really would not be that many powers per se but one could use character points on vehicles or bases. Characters would be primarily adventures and spies. Any thoughts or suggestions? It is, hopefully, something I can work on over my vacation. Thanks much - I love to pick the brains of people who know this system very well. Thanks again! Todd
  3. Hi all! I just picked up Urban Fantasy it is my only 5th editon book - all the other books I have are 6th editon (I am new to the system). I wanted to add vampires and werewolves to my proposed Champions game so very quickly is there much conversion I need to do - to do this? Can I take the Vampire template and just add it to a character or to I have to tweak it? Any suggestions or advice would be great! Todd
  4. I have been working on my Hero System Champions 6e campaign (which I hope to start later this summer). I hope to incorporate lots of different ideas to make this a Marvellesque Horror game - kinda wierd but since getting my hands on this system (I am a late to the game - only started with 6th edition) I want to push the bounderies a bit. What I wanted to know is has anyone made a Vampire Template that one could steal? I am going to guess that it will be in the Beastiary when it comes out but I am going on vacation soon and it will be a great chance to work on things. I did a similar thing in Freedom City with Mutants and Masterminds with Vampires "coming out" and being granted Constitutional Rights (yes stolen from the Anita Blake novels) - was very screwy for my PC's but they loved it and I was thinking of doing something similar with Champions. So any thoughts or help would be great! Thanks Todd PS - Wish me luck!
  5. Before I discovered the wonders of Hero System (and I can say in all honesty I think it is one of the best systems I have ever had the pleasure of using) I played Mutants and Masterminds. Has anyone done a conversion of Freedome City into Champions? Just curious... Thanks
  6. Re: Quick Fix for a Newbie Thanks Gojira! What you ask makes sense so here goes. As I said I am new to the Hero System and I have decieded to stay focused on 6th ed + materials (rather than trying to hunt down older stuff). For products I have: Hero System Basic Rules (a huge help in understanding the rules) Hero System 6th Ed Vol 1 - Character Creation Hero System 6th Ed Vol 2 - Combat and Adventuring Hero System Advanced Players Guide Hero System Marital Arts Champions (main book) Champions Powers I intend to run a super hero game when I get all the materials understood (well enough to start running the game) and a campaign drawn up. I hope to pull in lots of stuff from a previous Mutants and Masterminds game I ran and an old Marvel Superheroes game I ran. [The mutant terrorist organization R.O.C. Radical Order of Change will rear its ugly head again!!!] I really like the system and once I got over trying to overcomplicate things - it became much easier. Power design clicked into place (for the most part) with the purchase of the Powers book as once one understands how to re-engineer something much becomes clear. Todd
  7. I am new to the Hero System / Champions RPG and so far I have been blown away. I just recieved my copy of Champions Powers and it is fantastic. Just a quick question - does anyone have any quick ideas for turning those powers into devices or spells or would you recomend creating devices or spells from scratch? I know this is a bit open-ended and odd of a question but I have just started building up my campaign that I hope to run and I am trying to get the most of the system. Thanks!!! Todd
  8. I am new to Hero System and what I have read so far I am very much impressed. I do have a very simple question for you. Does STR (Strength) add to weapon damage? I have been playing around with creating some bad-guys for my players to fight (when I get a campaign off the ground) and I had the idea of a super-powered bad-guy mutant with great strength who wields a Warhammer (names? Warhammer or just Hammer - but I digress) If this bad-guy had 30 STR and thus 6D6 HTH damage - if he wielded a Warhammer which does 1D6+1 DMG would the total damage be 7D6+1 or something else? I have been reading and reading the book and I honestly can't find any answere one way or the other... Any help? Thanks Todd

  10. Hi all! I recently got my copies of the Hero System 6th edition books - and all I can say is WOW!!! First off the books are extremely well put together (not flimsy at all) and are just jam-packed with information. I have to say that in the 25+ years of role-playing I have never seen so much bang for you buck!! As I try to work my way through the rules (especially those dealing with powers) I keep trying to place the rules in context with powers and abilities that I see in my favorite comics (yes at 40 I still collect comics much to my wife's chagrin!) So I was wondering in the event that it is okay to ask here (I did not see anything in the rules preventing it but if I missed it please bear with me) if anyone had done any Marvel or DC comic builds? For example - how would one do Spider-Man or Wolverine? I tried playing around with Drain to see what I could do with Rogue but not so good so far (like I said I am still new at this). So if anyone has done any builds of popular characters I would love to see them and see if I can reverse engineer them (so to speak) to see how you got there and the path you took. I found this technique to be very useful when I learned Mutants and Masterminds but since I am moving onto Hero - I would love to use this methodology again. Thanks in advance Todd
  11. Hi All- I have been a fan of the Superhero RPG ever since high school where many Friday nights were devoted to TSR's Marvel Superheros. I think I have tried most of the systems since then (Ninjas and Superspies; Marvel Super Heroes; Gurps Supers; and Mutants and Masterminds). Somehow I missed Hero System and Champions - I knew they existed but no one I knew played them so I never picked them up. I read some reviews and I really want to give this system a go. I recently Ordered the 6th Edition Character Creation and Combat & Adventuring guides and I await thier arival. Are these compatible with previous editions? I have been poking around at the Champions stuff and if they are compatible I would love to pick some up. What would you advise? I hope that you guys can give me a hand - from what I gather I may have missed the best system yet and would love to make up for lost time (I am now in my 40's eeek!!!!) Thanks in advance and any and all suggestions and advice welcome! Todd
