Sorry for the delay, Wednesdays are our FTF Pathfinder Game, and the wife and I took my mom out to lunch afters to thank her for babysitting while we went to the animal shelter to look at cats. By the time we got home, it was bed time, and I had to run to work immediately after waking up last night and I JUST got home.

Okay, having already gotten this one approved by the Comish, I present:

Looking over the assembled members I begin with a slightly lower and solemn voice as I open "I am sorry to say that my initial choice for this round, ****, was nixed by the high and mighty commish."

"He apparently didn't quite fit in with the rules of this round. His alternate titles and alias don't count." I respond. 

 

And with a chuckle Mystique speaks up "Of course they don't. Seriously, you're the team captain, Rosie?"

 

And with a twinge of defensiveness "Hey, everyone makes mistakes, ya know."

"Now now, Mother" Kurt chimes in. "Let's not focus on what we can not change."

"Yeah, I am with the Big-Big Guy" Rocket says in following. "So, who is up next?"

 

Getting back on to topic I continue "Well, as you know it must be someone with a color in their title. But more than that I want to try and keep with our non-human theme for all of this."

"Yeah, I know that doesn't leave us with many choices. That is why I am here asking for help."

 

"Well, what about Red Devil?" Rocket offers up. 

 

"Yeah, I thought about that but doesn't that tread too closely on Nightcrawler's shtick?" I respond back. 

 

"Black Bolt could offer some good company for a change" Mystique quips. 

 

"No, no, no. Theme, Mystic, remember our theme. He is all wrong"

 

"I am Groot" Groot tries to suggest.

"I am sorry to disappoint you but Red Hulk was already taken." I have to respond. "But speaking of monstrous transformations, that gives me an idea!". I rush over to check the rosters that have been updated so far. And a quick moment of hope wells up inside of me. "I've got it!"

 

"Got what, Rose?" Kurt asks. 

 

"Well, my original pick for the Mystique slot was going to be Otto Octavius's Superior Spiderman but I didn't think he was abnormal enough to cut it so I went with Mystique to better fit the theme."

 

"You mean I was almost not dragged into this BS?" Mystique jolts up from her seat. 

 

"Oh sit down toots" Rocket says as he shoots her a sweet little smile. "Let the man finish, will ya!"

 

"Thanks. Now as I was saying, I didn't go with a Spider-Person that round BUT then again no one else has either. That means he is wide open. And he has the full on Spider Transformation now. Can't get more monstrous than a giant spider that can even mind control other spiders, can ya."

 

"Just kill me now..." Mystique laments "A raccoon, A tree, A lizard, A demon, and now a Spider. You need some serious help, Rosie."

With untold glee in my heart I call up Mystique. "Hey, Mystique..."

 

And as if on cue she interrupts with a snarky "What, Rosie?!"

 

Holding on to my happy spot I simply take a breath. "You know what, I am going to let that slide. I was talking with Kurt a bit ago and he thought we should get theme songs for each character. Something about building up the team moral and crowd support.

 

In her usual sardonic tone she responds "Go on."

 

"Well, I just finished picking everyone on the current roster's theme and I think you are going to get a real kick out of yours." I continue.

 

"Okay, what is it? Just skip to the point."

 

"Oh, no. I think you should see it for yourself. It is a full on masterpiece of a song custom tailored for you. Just come on over."

 

A couple hours later the group is assembled.

 

Addressing everyone present I keep a close eye on Mystique. "Okay everyone, so as you know I am unveiling everyone's theme songs today. I regretted not having everyone present for Kurt, Groot, and Rocket's song but I will fix that with Mystique's and Godzilla's. So please have a quick view of Mystique's new theme." And I press play on the PC.

 

Mystique:

 

 

Riddled with anger Mystique can't even finish the video as she storms over and grabs me by the collar. "What is the meaning of this, Rosie!?" But without waiting for a response she delivers a strong and hard knee to my side.

 

"I said you get a real kick out of it, didn't I?" as I begin to cough up some blood. "Now, feel free to call me Rosie all you want." I quip with a bloodied grin.

Taking a moment to clean my lip and start breathing normally I move over to the computer. "Now it is time for Big Green himself"

Doomsday is a clone. If clones are eligible for the "born this way" round that may effect my pick, I assumed they'd be considered like robots and constructs as created beings.

Yeah if Clones were on the table, I would have picked Ben Reilly the Scarlet Spider instead of Rogue.

I figured.

Hawkeye did well last season, just not for me, so I thought I'd see how it went.

And I've always been an Aquaman fan.

 

Since snipes were coming strong out of the gate I figured I'd go with some heroes I loved and enjoyed reading rather than maximum points etc. That'll cost me, but heck, I'm a Broncos fan... going from a winning season to falling on my face feels natural to me

Funny, I was going to say that as a Broncos fan, coming up short in the Finals feels natural to me.

As a Broncos fan, I catch all kinds of crap from KC Chiefs fans. One of my former supervisors once asked (back in 2008 or so), "So when are you gonna drop the Broncos and be a fan of a real team?"

My response: "At least my team has been to a super-bowl more recently, let alone won one."

Our Shadowrun GM is planning another occasional series, with mostly different players, to be set in the 2070 era. However, the PCs so far are such a pack of deviants it’s likely the game reports will be unprintable.

 

The GM does point out that our rather conspicuous appearance gives the team plausible deniability. Who’s going to believe a report that Santa, an anthro orca porn star, Disney’s Robin Hood, and a geriatric elf just broke in? Or that anybody would be insane enough to hire such a team?

 

Ripper K: Class III orca-form changeling, niche porn star (by the name of Dick Moby), and BDSM-powered Physical Adept. “A few hours being flogged on the X-frame? Great – just the thing to get me in the mood for headbutting trolls unconscious”
