  1. Re: Long winded request for assistance

Since I know both the GM and the player fairly well' date=' this is a complicated question to answer. The GM has spoken to the player a few times, and the character is actually toned down from what he started with, I guess. I do not think that we could ask for group approval of his character, because I am fairly sure that he would consider that to be a way for me to shoot down his character and him personally. He's always made abusive characters, and I doubt that will ever change. Sure, we could ask him not to play, but then his sister, who is also playing, might not like that. Complex situation all around.[/quote']

It's really the GM's responsibility to review and approve characters, not yours or the groups. Speaking as a GM, every character in my campaign is personaly reviewed by me and most undergo at least a little bit of revision before they are approved. I head off alot of problems that way. Nobody wants their character completely overshadowed by a munchkin king, it only creates hard feelings all the way around. Just my 2c.

Anyway, good luck dealing with this guy.

  2. Re: Long winded request for assistance

I guess I'll chime in with the obvious question: Why hasn't the GM asked this guy to simply create a new character that would be subject to review before he can play it? It sounds like a group consensus that his PC is abusive and unbalancing.

  3. Re: Character Creation points for Teenager Heros

How about 200 Points with 50 points in disadvantages?

Also- Roy I sent you a PM- please check your PM's

The base points are up to you, but I would go with no less than 100 disad points. That encourages players to take "teen angsty" psych disads and such. Plus there is the social lim: minor under 18 (keeps them out of lots of places like bars, clubs, liquor stores, etc) and many places have curfews.

  4. Re: Tracking Down Terror Inc.

I read someone's post about Giganto disappearing back into the Amazon Jungle and being worshipped as an earth god by the natives. I thought that was an interesting idea.

In my campaign Muerte is actualy still alive though most people think he's dead (in classic comic book fashion). Giganto saved him as he lay dying and is his only current henchman. He's biding his time until he can exact his revenge on the treacherous Scorpia and Feur.

  5. Re: Clix mod challenge

The only reason I used these was I had promised pics for weeks. I took every pic I've posted on this thread' date=' with different borrowed cameras and with various degrees of success. You'll notice I am soliciting advice on which camera to purchase.[/quote']

I'm just messin with ya. From what I can make out those are some nice mods.

  6. Re: Do you give out Bases, Group Vehicles, Group Equip etc

According to Champions rules players must spend points in order to have a base, vehicle, etc.

I have only 2-3 players at a time and we normally play 350pt supers. In order to keep them from having to spend points on bases I build very light generic bases with some very light equipment and vehicles.

I wonder if anyone else does this kind of thing for their group? Do you require players to spend points for group bases and vehicles or do you "help" them?

I usualy give my players a basic base and some sort of non combat team vehicle for "free" after their first couple of adventures. By "free" I mean that usualy there are some DNPC's that come with the base (receptionist, cook, etc.) and usualy they are answerable to their sponsor (the mayor, a rich philanthropist, a retired super, etc.).

  7. Re: What is your ideal sized hero group

    Duos and Trios are fun.

Yes, they are. Lots of room for character development and roleplay.

The 8-10 heroes at a time I currently run is just insane.

You're a better man than I, I wouldn't even attempt more than 6 or 7. If you can pull it off and keep the game moving I salute you.

  8. Re: Does Unluck Really Screw You?

As a GM I have rarely encountered PC's with Unluck. When I have I generaly used it in non-combat situations and at dramaticly appropriate moments. These created opportunities for roleplay and I didn't try to be malicious with it (I hope). For example: The character just foiled the villain and needs to get across town for a business meeting in his Secret ID. His unluck comes up and, oops, he gets stuck in traffic. Will he abandon his vehicle and use his superpowers to make it on time (and risk exposing his ID) or risk the wrath of his boss? As has been noted, the Spiderman movies are great examples of unluck in action.

  9. For all you GM's out there: How many PC's do you like in your gaming group? For myself I prefer 3 to 5 players. I like everyone to feel involved and I like to sometimes focus an adventure around one PC for a session or two (rescue his DNPC, explore his background, etc) every so often to make that player feel more connected and a part of to the game world. I find that if my group gets over 5 people I am not able to do that as well, which is a reflection of my limitations as a GM of course.

    How about you guys?

  10. Re: Lets cut the crap...

I just don't see where the game is that hard to learn. My wife (no rpging exp.)' date=' my oldest son (17, exp. gamer), and my youngest (12) all became fairly proficient after 3-4 sessions. My oldest, who's played D&D for a couple years even commented that there was less to learn than D&D...and pretty much everybody learns D&D at some point or another.[/quote']

Once you get the basic mechanics down it's pretty simple. It helps, though, if you have someone with some experience teaching you the game rather than buying a huge book and trying to digest it all by yourself. Sidekick really helped ease the learning curve though and DoJ needs to get it reprinted asap.

  11. Re: Goofy Disadvantage / Power Ideas

I posted this in this thread, might as well re-post it here.

Psych Lim: Compulsive Embellisher (Common, Total)

"You should have seen it! There were 20..no 50! Maybe 100 VIPER agents after me! And then Dr. Destroyer himself showed up! But was I scared? Hell no!"

Translation: There was a VIPER 8-team backed up by a low-level mutant. I was terrified.
