Re: Page one of the V&V Conversions is up!
Thanks (and rep) for the conversions. V&V is the first superhero system I played and ultimately led me to Champions. While it had its shortcomings it was great fun to play. Thanks also to Jeff Dee for the artwork and for allowing you to do the conversions.

Re: Who is your campaigns "Bad Guy they love to hate"
It'd probably be Mechassassin. He's the ultimate professional. For my superteam he is sorta like Taskmaster was to the Avengers. He always has a Plan B' date=' Plan C, and even a Plan D. He just can't be caught.[/quote']Mechassassin in my campaign as well. He's intelligent, resourceful, tough and most of all: for sale. A great all-around villain for hire.

Re: Punisher Vs Batman
Oh yeah, almost forgot. In response to the OP: Unless Punisher has the hot dice Bats will win.

Re: Punisher Vs Batman
I remember a Thing v. Hulk fight that started in Fantastic Four' date=' where the Thing was winning easily, then switched to The Incredible Hulk, where the Hulk ended up winning.[/quote']Let's put it in Champions terms then: The dice were hot for the Thing early, but then Hulk rolled a 3!

Re: Punisher Vs Batman
At no time have I ever felt that Wolverine could defeat Captain America in a fight' date=' and so he is relegated to tier 2, IMO.[/quote']In What if #43 Cap gets his ass kicked by Conan. If Conan can do it so can Logan. Of course it's just comic books...

Re: leftovers?
Favors, perks and contacts are always nice. Or encourage their character to have a "hobby" and buy some appropriate KS's, which helps give the character some personality.

Re: A counter for Dr Destroyer: Tomorrow Man
Well' date=' as I said, not an arguement I wanted to restart. People have different opinions on the matter.[/quote']Not at all. This is a discussion, not an argument. Anyway, if you're running an "official CU" campaign and are worried about a single villain then take a look at Takofanes. He's one nasty SOB and, unless you run a mystical campaign, few PC's are equiped to deal with him. I mean he has a 330pt VPP! Calling Dr. Strange, we need assistance!

Re: A counter for Dr Destroyer: Tomorrow Man
There's nothing wrong' date=' though, with a thought experiment that results in a character, and exercising the creative muscles is always good. [/quote']There is nothing "wrong" with any way that a GM and his players want to conduct a campaign. If your PC's are fine with it then it's all good.
If you want an "official" CU campaign, Tomorrow Man is not needed. The Battle of Detroit explains why Dr. D hasn't been heard from and you can introduce him when your campaign is ready. If you still want a "Superman" type for your universe then go for it. It all works within the genre.

Re: A counter for Dr Destroyer: Tomorrow Man
In my campaign I don't have a single "uber hero" to counter Dr. Destroyer. It kind of defeats the purpose IMO. Why bother fighting him if one phone call to Captain Amazing (or Tomorrow Man or whoever) is all it takes. The whole point of a mega-villain is that a well-coordinated hero team is what is needed to combat him. I didn't run any plot seeds involving Dr. Destroyer until my PC's were ready to handle such a threat, and even then they had to call in NPC's that they knew and trusted (ie. had worked with at some point in my campaign) to help. Even then it should take all the teamwork, wits, and cunning that the PC's can muster to defeat the threat. That's the whole point of a villain like the good Doctor after all.
Just say no to Deus Ex Machina Man.

Re: Initiative...
WARNING: Before introducing a random element into initiative' date=' realize that doing so will slow combat down, for two reasons:- You're adding Yet Another Die Roll to the process for every PC and NPC every Phase (sometimes more than one, when tiebreaker rolls are needed).
- You can't prepare a combat sheet in advance, so the action will generally be less smooth, and you'll do a lot of asking who goes next.
That doesn't mean you absolutely shouldn't do it -- I agree there's something to be said for a bit of unpredictability in the combat order -- just be aware that you might be tossing sand into machinery that isn't always lightning-fast in the first place.
I agree. I try keep things as simple as possible to ensure smooth gameplay. That's just me though.

Re: Angel, the worst original character concept ever?
21 is legal drinking age in most states' date=' which has nothing to do with legal adult age or age of consent.[/quote']Yeah, here in America you can serve in the military at the age of 18 and risk your life for your country. You just can't have alcohol 'cause that could be dangerous.

Re: My Teen Champions Game
Sounds like you have a great group of RPers there.

Re: Halo characters
Also' date=' shouldn't those force fields have Ablative??[/quote']Maybe, but they recharge back to full strength. Not sure how to model that. -
Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it...
Wow! Huge thread here so I'm Not sure if it has been mentioned yet but The Reality Dysfunction series by Peter Hamilton is great. Very sci-fi with existential/spiritual themes. Very well writen as well.

Re: A Difficult Power
I'd just handwave this as a special effect. After all, a new body every day is going to be as much a problem as a boon. Sometimes an old man, sometimes a child. The commonality should be that the body is always clearly dead to anyone who makes an INT roll or has mystic senses. As for identification, perhaps a special ring with an encrypted ID chip that the character picks up from its hiding place before he goes to HQ...
Sometimes the simplest solution is the best

Re: The Invisibles Writeups
I finally got to see this wonderful movie yesterday. I had to play the "it's my birthday" card to get the wife to agree and she thanked me for it.
First off: great write ups but...why did you feel the need to force Elastigirl and Mr. Incredible into 350 points? They are both obviously highly experienced and Mr. Incredible, from what I gathered, was considered one of the best heroes of his time. That's worth a few XP don't you think?
Anyway, great write-ups Now. if someone would do an Edna Mode writeup....

Which Edition of Champions/Hero System Worked Best for Your Champions Campaign?

Re: Which Edition of Champions/Hero System Worked Best for Your Champions Campaign?
I have to say 4th here as well. It did a great job of streamlining all of the rules into that wonderful BBB. The camaign I currently run is a continuation of the 4th ed CU. The original Champions fought in the Battle of Detroit and suffered badly. Defender was badly injured and retired, passing his legacy onto his son who is the current Defender (al la 5th ed). Seeker was killed (of course) and Obsidian, guilt ridden, returned home and became a great statesman. Quantum split to form her own team (Force One) with Solitaire joining her. Jaguar "retired" and now works as a private investigator, using his powers only when necessary.
