  1. Re: Disadvantages for Pyro

Oh, and people are forgeting that this is Super Blue's version of Pryo, and not exactly Marvels. What he is asking for is advice, it is up to him if he wants to impliment it or not.

And, more info on the exploding fule see Blowtorch in CKC.

Heh, no worries Steriaca. I've been trying to stay true to the comic version, but blending some of the personality elements from the movie. Here is the final version of my Disadvantages for Pyro.

15 DF: Detects as Mutant (NC, Extreme Reaction, Requires special group of senses)

5 DF: Australian Accent (EC, Noticed and Recognized)

10 Physical Limit: Loses Mutant Powers in Suppression Feild (IF, Greatly)

    20 Hunted: Anti-Mutant Groups (+Pwr, NCI, 8-)

    20 Hunted: Law Enforcement/Hero Groups (+Pwr, NCI, 8-)

15 Psych - Hates Humans (Com, Strong)

15 Psych - Overconfident (Com, Strong)

10 Psych - Opportunistic (Com, Mod)

15 Rep - Mutant Terrorist (Ex, Only to spec group, 14-)

25 Susc - If Fuel Tank is Ruptured: Flamethrower loses 2d6 END/Segment (He can shut the fire off if it combusts)

Anyway, thanks for your help guys!

  2. Re: Best way to do this?

have you considered buying the armor as a vehicle and an AI' date=' or a Automaton Follower and an AI?[/quote']

Problem with it being a Vehical is that only the boy can pilot it (it's designed for someone of his build and is very complicated to use).

Automaton Follower? How would I represent the fact that he can climb inside of it and pilot it, and that it has to obey his every command?

  3. Okay, I've come up with a character concept where the Character is a small boy super-genius who has developed a sentient combat armor.

I plan on building it as the Robot being a base form, and the child is a Duplication (best way to represent the SFX of user/armor).

Anyway.. how would I simulate that the Armor has it's own Psych Limits (Loyal to the boy) but would also have the boy's Psych limit's while the boy is directly operating it. The armor can function as an autonomous robot with the boy giving it voice commands or piloting by remote (via mindlink) if he has to send the robot into situations that are too risky for himself (such as a radiation feild when he hasn't sheilded the cockpit against dangerous radiation).

Or should I just buy the child as a follower?

  4. Re: Disadvantages for Pyro

    Thank you Lord! lol

I had thought about building that as a disad onto the Flame Thrower... but by building that as a disad instead (he's RARELY without his Flame Thrower... so that would SO work)

  5. Re: Disadvantages for Pyro

I'm at work' date=' so I may be off, but can't you add a rep as a disad. Give him one like Member of Brotherhood or somesuch. Or even a disad for being friends with the Blob, cause that kind has got to have some Bad B.O.[/quote']

Okay... so now we're looking at:

15 DF: Detects as Mutant (NC, Extreme Reaction, Requires special group of senses)

5 DF: Australian Accent (EC, Noticed and Recognized)

10 Physical Limit: Loses Mutant Powers in Suppression Feild (IF, Greatly)

    20 Hunted: Anti-Mutant Groups (+Pwr, NCI, 8-)

    20 Hunted: Law Enforcement/Hero Groups (+Pwr, NCI, 8-)

15 Psych - Hates Humans (Com, Strong)

15 Psych - Overconfident (Com, Strong)

15 Psych - Opportunistic (Com, Strong)

15 Rep - Mutant Terrorist (Ex, Only to spec group, 14-)

I've added Opportunistic... so I need another 20 points still...

  6. Okay.. considering Pyro was one of my favorite Mutant Brotherhood characters in the comics, one would think I could remember more about him (hey, it's been 10 years and I had to auction my comics to help pay for college).

Anyway... I'm doing a writeup of him for my X-Men PBEM game and I need 150 points in Disads, but I only have 100 points worth.

This is what I have so far:

15 DF: Detects as Mutant (NC, Extreme Reaction, Requires special group of senses)

5 DF: Australian Accent (EC, Noticed and Recognized)

10 Physical Limit: Loses Mutant Powers in Suppression Feild (IF, Greatly)

    20 Hunted: Anti-Mutant Groups (+Pwr, NCI, 8-)

    20 Hunted: Law Enforcement/Hero Groups (+Pwr, NCI, 8-)

15 Psych - Hates Humans (Com, Strong)

15 Psych - Overconfident (Com, Strong)

I was thinking of giving him a 10 Pt Psych Limit: Showoff (Com, Mod)... but would that fit under Overconfident?

I remember that he was a published novelist before joining the BoEM... any ideas how I could fit that in?

I do not recall him have any vulnerabilities to Cold or Water... and any effect those SFX have on his powers would be disadvantage points for his Flame Manipulation Powers...

    Thanks!

  7. Re: X-Men Storylines

Have them confront members of Project:Wideawake ... specifically a soldier in it named Castle ;) Or better yet' date=' have them find the frozen Cap ... what would the X-men do with him?[/quote']

Project Wideawake was the sentinal program wasn't it?

Castle? As in Frank Caste? I already have plans for the Punisher.

As for Captain America, I have plans for him as well.

But that won't come til a lil bit later. I think I have all that I need right now.

  8. Re: X-Men Storylines

    Humm...early Marvel...where to start...

Rumors about a dragon (or a mutant animal?) send the X-Men to China to investgate (FinFangFoom?).

A mystereous mastermind makes himself known. He calls himself "The Mandran", and appears to wield some strange powers. Could he be a mutant?

The players learn about some small time thugs trying to put presser buy hiring mutants into there gain. Thay gain this infomation from someone who may or may not be conected to the mysterous "Kingpin Of Crime".

The heros search in Gwenish Villiage for the sourse of some mystereous energy which is not mutant, but still regesters on Cerebro. What can it be? Who could be causing it? And what does it have to do with Dr. Stephen Strange?

Problem with FinFangFoom and Mandran is I know very little of Iron Man. I know nothing of Dr. Strange. Most of what I've read was X-Men and Spiderman.

  9. Re: Looking for ideas for my campaign (Danger: Long)

That's a winner. And yeah' date=' the team will have to put up with a lot of "Is Brainwave dating Defender?" (The player doesn't see why Witchcraft and Sapphire have the attraction) in the media :)[/quote']

Okay.. I'm not familiar with Witchcraft or Saphire... but if they are villains... maybe after seeing the "Brainwave/Defender Affair" in the papers, they come a-calling to teach her not to be a little hussie lol.

    Or...

They get Mind Controlled by a villain to attack Brainwave because the Mind Control induces severe jealousy. *Shrug*

  10. Okay, I'm in the planning stage of an X-Men campaign (alternate universe idea). I already have long-term adventure arks in mind (Apocolypse, Morlocks, Sentinels, cross-overs with Fantastic Four, Spiderman, etc).

Right now I'm trying to find some beginning stage ideas. Basically it is a current day campaign, but the world is unaware of mutants (how long that remains to be seen depends on the actions of the PC's and of the Mutant groups out there).

The world has not seen many costumed individuals... Captain America is just a legend, Spidermand and Daredevil are just tabloid rumors. Frank Castle has not yet started his war against crime. The Fantastic Four are still building their space shuttle. Bruce Banner is not the head of the Gamma Reactor research facility. Tony Stark has not yet built his Iron Man suit.

Basically Xavier's school has been open for about a decade, but hasn't had many students (because the number of mutants has not been very high up until recent years). Only a handful of his X-Men are college graduates.

Magneto is in hiding, but has been sending out feelers through Mystique and a few other mutant servants to find powerful mutants that hold a grudge as big as his. He only has a few Mutants in his "brotherhood" (Right now it's Mystique, Blob, Toad, and Pyro).

Xavier's teaching staff consists of his older X-Men as well as some less powerful mutants with various skills (the Phys Ed instructor has Enhanced senses but is not very mobile; The Art instructor has Eidetic Memory and can secrete a sticky resin, but only in small amounts; stuff like that).

Some of the popular Characters are not where they are in the traditional universe.... Wolverine and Sabretooth are currently part of Alpha Flight, Storm is in Africa working for the Shadow King, Mastermind is a school teach and will become part of the Mutant Rights Organization (group I've created on my own, won't make an appearance until after mutants have been discovered).

Anyway... I figure a few adventures can be attempts to recruit new members of the X-Men (such as traveling to Canada to recruit wolverine and sabretooth, or traveling to Germany to track Nightcrawler, etc). Others can be stopping the Brotherhood from doing "stuff" (such as adding a chemical to water resevoirs that increases the odds of mutation... or forcibly recruiting members... or even blowing the lid on the existance of mutants).

Any other ideas? I was thinking that maybe having the PC's search New York for the rumoured Spiderman and Daredevil (maybe Cerebo cannot distinguish the diference between Mutants and Meta-humans?).

I wanna hold off on actually having them face Magneto, Juggarnaut, the Morlocks, Apocolypse, or any of the others... could possibly throw them against HYDRA (though I don't know much about Nick Fury, SHEILD, and HYRDA...)

  11. Re: Villains versus Villains

At one time I had a scenario planned where VIPER was holding an Omega (the tier system being Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Nova, Omega) level Meta human to do experiments on her.

The PC's broke in to rescue her but took out the VIPER Agents BEFORE freeing her... The plan was, they free her, she starts killing VIPER Agents, they have to take her down.

Sadly enough it didn't work that way. She left after killing 3 VIPER Agents and they couldn't touch her (re-arranged her VPP for Flight with massive NCM). Only reason I did it like this was cuz there was no reason for them to fight her.

I'm thinking of (in my XMen game after the PC's take down the Brotherhood) of having Magneto replace the old Brotherhood with some new people, and having the two groups duke it out in the middle of a populated area (so the PC's come to take out both groups) and having Sentinals show up.

Course.. this won't happen for a while cuz A) The World Doesn't know about Mutants just yet; B) The Brotherhood needs to get it's butt kicked several times over; and C) Sentinals would have to have been invented already (though the PC's wouldn't neccesarily have fought them before hehe).

I think a 4 way would be a very fun thing to toy around with :-D

    X-Men

    Old Brotherhood

    New Brotherhood

    Sentinals

Of course... all of the mutants would need to team up in order to fight the Sentinals... cuz they are gonna be some TOUGH suckers.

  12. Re: Is this Munchkinish?

Thanks for the info... but after looking over the concept (and the points involved) I've decided to alter Gate to be more of an Energy Projector and Teleporter than a Martial Artist and Teleporter.

I figure by putting all of her powers in a multipower and having the following powers, I can get the desired effect:

Stop Attacks (Missile Reflection with Indirect) - a gate absorbs a ranged attack and fires it at someone else.

Going bye-bye (Teleport with Usable against others, Ranged, and AoE - 1 Hex, also prolly put in extra mass for Bricks...)

Dimensional Distortion (RKA with an AoE).

Also add in a couple of different Teleports (Extra Mass, AoE, etc).

Redirecting Damage - High ED Force Feild, the SFX is she's using wormholes to absorb some of the energy.

    Stuff like that.

  13. an NPC Villain I've been working on (Named Gate cuz she can open up wormholes) can use her Wormhole ability to punch people at long distance through a wormhole.

I've heard of using Stretching with "Does not cross intermediate distance" but what about just creating Naked Advantages "Ranged" and "Indirect" for Martial Arts? Would those not create the same effect? I think the results would be better because Stretching is limited by Turnmode and Distance, while opening small "gates" would not be... so it would be closer to the SFX of her powers to use Ranged and Indirect.

    Any ideas?

  14. Okay, I'm working on a villain for my X-Men Campaign.. a mutant known as Gate. She has the power to open up wormholes and travel via them (or make other people travel via them).

One of her powers allows her to open up a wormhole to aborb an enemy attack and place that wormhole so it will redirect the attack at someone else.

Could I get away with putting the Indirect Power advantage to simulate this.

Example: Blasterboy fires his uber-shot attack (10d6) at Gate, and Gate opens a wormhole to absorb the attack and hits Blasterboy in the back with it.

    Is this rules legal?

  15. Re: Naked Advantage Question

See I don't see a problem with tacking the Personal Immunity on as a Naked Advantage... so long as he puts a a disad on it (in this case, the disad isn't worth anything becuase there is only one person he cannot hurt). I could tack on another disad... "Only when bounced back" which means if Rogue or the Great Adaptoid were to copy his powers, he'd be screwed.

You can do naked advantages on the power pools, its just not recommended. If I could fork up the cost of 0 End in a VPP, everything created by the pool is 0 End (which is the example they use). But if I had a 10 pt pool VPP for instant minor gadgets, would 0 End be so bad?

You aren't supposed to put naked advantages as slots in a pool, such as a MP, but in TUB they rewrote some villian bricks from CKC and did use naked advantages as slots in an MP, because it better fit the concept.

When it comes to naked advantages, I believe its all down to maturity, role playing, and concept. I wouldn't forbid them, I would just want to see how they are used.

  16. Re: Naked Advantage Question

The game is an X-Men setting and he's playing Cyclops. The reason the Personal Immunity is required is because Cyclops and his Brother Havoc are unable to hurt eachother (though I remember that when someone uses Cyclop's own power against him, it has no effect.. so if someone like Rogue were to copy his power, they could not use it against him)

I did tell him to put a -0 Disadvantage on his Multipower: Powers have no effect of Havoc. Does this apply to this case scenerio? or Maybe the Personal Immunity can only be when someone bounces it back at him.. and not when they copy the power (like Rogue).

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that naked advantages had to have some form of limitation on them to justify being separate from the main power.

Frex, the amulet that has no actual power, but can apply reduced endurance to other powers making the character more enduring. If they lose the amulet, the power is still there, but it's harder to do everything.
