  1. Okay, one of my players has a Multipower for Energy Blasts of various sorts (he's a swiss army knife so to speak).

He wants Personal Immunity to his powers, and rather than have him do it on each power how can he have a Naked Advantage "Personal Immunity" for his entire Multipower?

His MP is a 50 AP/50 pt pool... and he has 8 powers in his MP... but only 7 of them are attack powers (one is Missile Deflection).

  2. Re: A Modern League of Extroardinary Gentlemen

My take on a Modern LXG?

    Monk (Bullet Proof Monk)

    Hermione Granger (from Harry Potter)

El Mariachi (Antonio Banderas from Desperado/Once upon a time in Mexico)

Alex Cross (Morgan Freeman's Character from Kiss the Girls and Along came a spider) OR Lincoln Rhyme (the quadapaligic detective from The Bone Collector)

Selene and Micheal From Underworld (need a Vampire and monster from somewhere

As for the techno-genius... the only person I can think of is McGuyver... but he's not very recent now is he? hrm........

  3. Re: Jedi Ghosts and fade-to-deaths?

I've always been of the opinion that only a Jedi Master fades away.

Vader did not fade away. His body was still there after he died. It was his spirit that stayed around. Qwi Gon Jin's spirit didn't stay around because he didn't need to stay. Obi Wan had already reached the end of his padawan training and just needed to under go the trials to become a full Jedi, and Anakin was his charge... now Qwi Gon's.

The reason Obi Wan and Yoda stayed around was to continue Luke's instruction to help him become a Master Jedi. Anakin stayed to straighten things out with his son and daughter so he could find peace (if you've ever read the books you'd know what I'm talking about).

  4. Being the Matrix geek that I am... has anyone done a writeup on the Hovercraft from the Matrix series? I might be able to do a decent writeup if I could figure out how do handle the Pads that allow them to fly.

How would you simulate losing flight ability through the loss of the pads? Buy X" of Flight with OIF once for each Pad? Would those individual Flight systems total up into one system?

Is there a disad that would simulate losing ability as the Pads take Damage/are destroyed? EDIT: Ablative comes to mind.. but doesn't that only take effect if you fail a dice roll?

becuase from watching the Matrix movies (Animatrix too) as far as I can tell losing 1-2 pads on a side doesn't hurt... but when you lose all of the pads on one side you lose your ability to turn well (so loss in turn mode?) and if you lose a set of bottom pads, you start dragging your butt (so to speak).

And near as I can tell... the pads can take a beating but it's the joint where the pads attach to the hovercraft that are vulnerable to attack. I mean... the pads can survive scraping the walls for long distances without getting ripped off but as soon as a sential touches it they blow up. I guess that'd be Heavy Armor and the Sentinals have Armor Pericing *shrug*

    Any ideas?

  5. Does anyone know where I can find X-Men to HERO conversions (don't need to be FRED... just something I can look off of to get an idea)?

I am planning on starting an alternate universer sort of X-Men campaign and I don't know the full extent to some of the characters nor what some of them can and can not do.

    thanks!

  6. Re: Were Forms

Um... if the Werewolf is his baseform then his human form should be built upon 165 Points which would cost his Were Wolf Form 33 points. So his Human Form should have 95 Base Points and 75 Disadvantage Points.

  7. Re: Old School Dungeons and Dragons Question.

The thing about Chick's comic is that it also makes uneducated comments about Wiccan/Pagan religions (the basis for my state is Debbie's "Harm None" comment). I myself am Wiccan, and I play RPG Games (DND is what I cut my teeth on).

I know about a dozen people of various Pagan faiths (including Wicca) and only 2 (not including myself) Play ANY sort of RPGs, let alone DnD. This Chick guy makes it seem like all of us worship the game and use it as a means of recruitement (which unlike Christianity we do not actively seek to convert, bur rather we allow others to decide if Wicca or any other Pagan path is right for them).

    *sigh*

And to think... these are SUPPOSED to be more tolerant times.

Yeah... things are funny like that. The PC's are grossly outnumbered and have limited ammo, but they refuse to retreat. I guess they don't get that they just need to surivive to get XP :-p

  10. ah yes... hopefully I'll be able to afford the Fred Book... so I can convert my writeup.

As far as Autofire Skills and Rapid Fire manuver, I'd have to actually read the book to know what those are. But thanks for the feedback Susano, it is very uplifting to get feedback from the master converter! You are my Guru sir! lol

  11. Boy... not so much as a word of praise or condemnation. Am I the only one who's seen Underworld? Or am I the only one who's thought of running game based on it?

Does anyone wish to argue or make sugguestions?

  12. Keep in mind, this is a 4e converstion from the movie, Underworld!

NOTE: This is Selene at the Beginning of Underworld, before she meets Micheal or begins to suspect Kraven is aiding Lucien. This is also my first conversion, so bear with me. I may post Selene's background at a later time, most likely when I post the writeup on my website (coming soon).

  13. Okay, anyone try doing a write up of Lycans and Vampires from Underworld? I've done a generic Lycan and Generic Death Dealer Writeup based upong 75/75 for 4e. I'll post them sometime soon, but after spending all weekend watching it (3 times... GAH!!!) I've noticed the following:

Selene has a casual STR of at LEAST 10... so her STR must be 20. She can surivive a drop of 5 Stories, so she must have like... 10" of superleap (though she never uses more than 5" of Superleap anytime in the movie). She also seems to have excellent combat reflexes... which could probably be written up as +5DCV vs all attacks, also Combat Sense thrown in.

Viktor has a casual STR of 15 (if you give the Lycans in Were-form a level of growth, which I did). He also has a nasty HKA (SFX: Snapping the neck).

I've also noticed Lucien has a regenerative ablility of 5 Body per minute with Concentration... which makes me think it's about 5d6 AID for body with Extra Time and Concentration.

Lycans seem to always land on their feet... would this be Acrobatics with Several Skill levels?

As soon as I get done with the Writeups, I'll post them here. Keep in mind they will be in 4th edition and I'll see if a friend of mine would help me convert them to Fred.

Until then, I'm busy with school. BAH!!!

  14. I'm using HERO 4e...

I've decide not to do the Ego Attack Damage sheild, but just use the mind controll

Commanding those with Darkness in their Hearts:

    Mind Control 3d6

    0 END +1/2

    Continuous +1

    Persistant +1/2

NND - Being Pure of Heart and not using any dark-elemental energies +1

    Cost: 60

    Communicating with my Servants

    Mind Link 5

    Any Specific Group +5

    5 doublings of Targets (32 total) +25

    Any Distance +5

    And Dimension +5

    Cost: 45

    Speed Reading

Add-in a Multipower to represent his other powers, and he should work just fine.

  15. Okay, I'm working on a villain that can control those who either have Darkness in their hearts (any form of negativity, hate, jealous, anger, etc) or those who use Darkness based powers (such as black magic).

Anyway, I already know that Mindcontrol is the best solution. However, this guy has a permanant mindlink with all of his minions.

I know paying a lot for mindlink can get expensive, so are there any advantages to maintain the link with everyone under his command?

So far it would be base of 5

+5 for all minions, one at a time

+5 for every doubling in minions

    +5 for any distance

    +5 for any dimension

So.. if he wants to coordinate 32 minons (or less)... that would be +25 points.. (as this guy has minions in many dimensions)... is there a cheaper way of doing this?

Also, how would I represent Mind Control being on even when not in his presense? I was thining either allowing him to use it over Mindlink or by doing it like this:

    Mindcontrol Xd6

    0 END, Continuous, Persistant

NND - Not having any Darkness in your heart or not using any Darknessed based powers

Basically what I'm trying to do is make it so anyone under his control stays under his control when he's not around, and he has a constant mindlink with them.

Also, I want him to be able to Ego Attack those who try using Psionics on his minions (which I think would be 'Usuable on others')

    Any input?

  16. Hm...

The easiest way would to do a writeup of a super-powerful character... and give him a mutiform and duplication...

    OR

Have each player do a write-up, and then have them buy a new power called: Fusion (okay.. so it rips off DBZ).

anyway, have the base cost of fusion be 10 points to create a normal person from fusion. For each 1 CP spent on Fusion, the Fused Form gains 5 points. HOWEVER, fusion can only be used by a single pair of characters. For a chacter to use Fusion with more than one person, he/she must spend an addition 5 CP for each person fusable. Another thing, Both character must have an equal number of Points invested in Fusion, or The Fused Creation only has as many points as the lower of the two costs. One final note, the Fused form cannot have more than 1 1/2 times the average point level of the fused characters without the 1/1 point cost. The fusion only lasts 1 Full Turn before wearing off. However, the time length can be moved down one step on the time chart as per +1/4 on the base cost (10+X)

    So...

Let's say Thunder and Atlas are twin mutants, and they find a magic item that allows 2 people to merge into a single being for 1 hour. Both Thunder and Atlas are build on a total of 250 points. This means they can potentiall fuse into single being with a total of 375 points without paying 1/1 point. To get the full 375pt character, they must spend 85 points (10 Base + 375/5 = 85 points) and must advance the time chart by 4 clicks (I think it goes 1 Turn, 1 Minute, 5 Minute, 1 Hour, yes?). This means the Fusion Cost will be 85x(1+1)=170 points. Of course, this IS a magic item so it gets IIF and IND... which would knock the price down considerably

EDIT: Fusion Base cost: 10 points. 5 CP for 1 point. Fused form cannot exceed 1.5 times the AVG of fused pair without paying a 1/1 cost for each point beyond limit. Fusion only lasts 1 turn, this can be extended down on the time chart for +1/4 advantage. Fusion can only occur between a single pair. An additional fusion partner costs an addition 5 points

Not very cost effective, but it should simulate what you want to do, and you would need GM's permision to use such a power. Depends on the situation.
