  1. ______________________________________________ 4d6 Minor Transformation (sterile or impotent man into a hard charging lover of women with copious amounts of potent seed - yech! This is starting to sound like the Porn Hero thread.) OAF Potion (-1), Fragile (-1/4), 1 Charge (-2), Non-Recoverable (-1/2), Expensive Ingredients (-1/4), Preparation Time (-1) ______________________________________________ Maybe this should be :"OAF Blue Diamond-Shaped Tablet (-1)" Probably the main reason these issues are not addressed in Hero or other RPGs is that it is ususally unimportant to a RPG Character except as a plot device. The character's ability to produce children (or even have sex) does not matter much to a player (although I'm certain it does matter to the character, who however, gets no imput into the matter). Even something as important as aging is not very important in RPGs. In Hero, a character can be Immortal for 5 points.
  2. _____________________________________________ Hey, he's Conan. Give him both . _____________________________________________ What's a few more points going to matter to a 431 point character?
  3. I agree that Conan does need some grappling and unarmed martial arts. As for two weapon fighting, I've never read any of the novels, but other sources have him fighting with a weapon in each hand. (this may also include using a shield as a weapon also.) I remember one example in the comic-magazine where he was dueling some skinny pirate and each were wielding a pair of poisoned daggers. It also seems that I have seen him fight with a sword and hand axe combination.
  4. Does anyone have any suggestions on a reasonably balanced way to use the FHG spells with a narrower set of Arcana Skills. For example, only having six Arcana skills where Enchantment and Thaumaturgy are combined into one. Using combined existing Arcana would prevent a GM from having to go through the entire FHG and determine what spells should go into the Black Magic Arcana. It would be much easier to be able to say that Black Magic has all the Necromancy and Sorcery Spells. (Please note: I have only skimmed through the Grimoire, so the examples I chose may not really be very good combinations; I only used them to illustrate what I mean).
  5. In FHG, all the spells have many options. Are these considered variations on the same spell that can be modified as the charcter grows more experienced or totally different spells that must be learned? If a character has the ordinary version of Create Light and wants to learn the Strong Option, does she need to buy the Strong Version at 1/3 or the 8 CP cost or just pay the difference between that cost and what she has already paid on the Create Light spell? I would think that one just pays the difference, but on FHG page 4 under Options, it seems to indicate that the optional versions are specially developed and often have their own names.
  6. Would an Arcana devoted to the purpose of the spells rather than the nature or special effects be appropriate? Examples would be an Attack, Defense, Movement, Martial Arts, Base/Vehicle Building, Healing/Aiding, or Dragon-Slaying Arcana. Of course it would need to be more colorful and fit into the setting. UPS - (Underhill Parcel Service) - A delivery business run by a group of Gnomes who have developed a specialized Movement Arcana that deals exclusively with spells that allow them to overcome all challenges and barriers that would prevent them from delivering their shipments on time: Gate Travel, Fleet of Foot, Bounding Leap, Bugs Bunny Burrowing, Pass Through Wall, Insect Climb, Walk on Water, Lighten the Load, Dolphin Fins, Summon Helper, Detect Delivery Location, Pass Unhindered, Tireless Journey, Freedom of Movement, Illusionary Bribe, etc...
  7. I was wondering why TUV and SH do not seem to have options for force fields or walls that are weakened by attacks and then are directly recharged by a set recovery rate or by spending END. For example, A 50 ED force wall on a starship gets hit by a laser cannon for 30 Body, so now it is down to 20 ED until recharged (either at a steady rate of recovery or by using the ships power source and using energy that may be needed elsewhere). This seems more like the way shields work in most Science Fiction movies like Star Wars or Star Trek (or at least the computer games based of these movies).
  8. Maybe a few pages for Fantasy Normals and normal animals. Lots of new templates to change those normal people and normal animals into something less than normal. I'm interested in the more humanoid monsters since HSB has so many big things that will tear a whole party apart. Lots of generic humanoids with lots of options to modify them. How about Generic wizards of different types and power levels. More templates to change these generic creatures into something more interesting. Generic Sorcerer becomes Demon-Possessed, Theives Guild Leader Sorcerer. Several original interesting races would be interesting. I also would like guidelines for determining the combat effectiveness of the creatures and NPCs.
  9. You may just want to look at the size chart and the sample weapons and make your own guidelines. For example, you may decide that the Space Combat Laser on SH 196 costing 105 points is about the right size for a size 10 space ship. Therefore, the biggest weapon a average ship can have is about 10 times its size in real points. This might be the ships primary weapon, and you may permit only one or two of these for use on similar sized enemy ships and several weaker weapons for defense against smaller ships.
  10. Sorry. I should have read all the previous posts. Mordacius said the same thing days ago.
  11. A compromise would be to just use the regular rules since they are already designed for balance, then use a lower dice amount with a multiplier. Design the 25d6 RKA normally. When it hits, roll 5d6 and multiply the result by 5. This should give similar results to the 25d6, require fewer dice to be rolled, and help with the middle range results problem of rolling many dice. This is what I do with any roll requires a large amount of dice.
