  1. Re: No Dominion - A FH Story Hour Eosin, what follows is the Rough Draft of Jayme's journal entry for his "wintering exploits". Please feel free to make any corrections that would be required. Wintering in Middea While we waited for the weather to cooperate with us in our pursuit of the annihilation of the Troll infestation up North, I was faced with an opportunity that was too good to pass on. Historically, we should have about eight weeks before the way is clear enough to begin our journey towards the mountains, which gives me plenty of time to set in motion my plans for Northrun. After excusing myself from the evenings dinner guests with brief farewells, I packed my small backpack and prepared for an early departure. To prevent unwanted delays, it would be necessary to leave the city by first light, even if it meant leaving in the middle of a snowstorm. Alacran would surely earn his keep on this trip! I must free him of his duties in the near future, for he is growing ever more independent of late. He actually questioned the need for travel this time of year! What Gall! Perhaps his pay for putting up with me on this trip will be what he wants so dearly. I will propose this to father upon our return. The morning sun was barely visible over the mountains when we crested the last ridge before losing sight of the city. It was a crisp fall morning with few clouds in the sky, which turned into a fantastic day for traveling. I only hope that the balance of this trip goes as well as it has begun! The trip to Northrun lasted only three days, putting us a full day ahead of schedule, much to the chagrin of my staff. They expected us late the next day. The weather could not have been better for traveling north; the days were bright and clear with the nights having the light of a waning moon to keep us on our path. The time that Alacran and I spent on the road was filled with discussion of this Temple that I have been building in my head. He actually gave me several ideas on things to incorporate into it. Most dealt with security, which I had not considered before. We talked non-stop for the better part of the trip, with short stops for hunting, sleeping and other such things that that are required while out on the trail. I made an appointment to have the best of the Tradesmen that were available in the area to meet with me the next afternoon to discuss my plans. But first, I must discuss my plans with Neryn. She probably already knows what I intend to do, but I must give her the news. Alacran must be slipping; I got away from him too easily this time. The walk to the clearing that I remembered was not as long as I thought it was, for the morning sun was not yet clear of the horizon. My thoughts were all a mess; I had too much to tell her, yet I knew it was all in vain. With a lump in my throat and my stomach in knots, I began the ritual to summon the Water Spirit. If only the Duke could see me now, what would he say? “In love with a Spirit? Are you Daff?” The ritual normally takes about an hour to perform, but this morning Neryn arrived much quicker than usual. Her abrupt arrival chased those thoughts away, and her form was a welcome sight. Soon enough, she was standing next to me in the river, holding my hands and captivating my thoughts. We became entwined in each other’s arms before I was aware that she had transformed herself into this beautiful female form that had substance. Neryn had become the Queen of the angels for me and as we held each other tightly, time itself stood still. How did Neryn take on human form? It did not matter, for she was everything that I dreamt that she would be. Afterwards, while basking in the sunlight on the bank of the river, I had to ask her if I was dreaming or if she was actually in human form. She told me that she was in human form for the time being and that some things were better left unsaid. We talked about the plans for the Temple and she quickly changed my words to “our house” in place of the Temple. With the sun near its apex in the sky, we had to hurry back so that I would not be late for my meeting with the Tradesmen. Getting clothes to fit Neryn was not as difficult as I first thought, one of the serving girls was a perfect match; size wise anyway. Alacran was not happy about being eluded, but when he met Neryn he soon understood. For the next few weeks, I do not remember seeing Alacran, but I know that he was there. My time was spent with Neryn, showing her where everything was going to be and where our future might unfold. The Tradesmen set to work on our plans with a vengeance. The materials were sourced from nearby ruins with very little left to be purchased outright. The Duke did not need to know about this structure at this time, and if certain things showed up on my balance sheet, questions would be asked that I did not want to answer, just yet. During our time spent together, a grander scheme came into focus for Northrun. I would build a sanctuary where all the Spirits could enjoy tranquility, to regain their sense of purpose. The Northern portion of Northrun was to become a safe haven for all. There is to be no violence or destruction of any type within the boundaries that will be set forth. If these simple guidelines are broken, banishment from Northrun will be the answer. There are few exceptions to the above rules, and the locals will know these by heart. Other tasks were accomplished while in the area, and Arron and Nagus should be happy with what I have found for them. Why they both would want Crenellations, I do not quite understand. You would think that my castle would be enough for them. The time had come for us to part ways once again. Weather or not it was a tear that formed on her cheek, I will never know, for it disappeared with her as she transformed back to her natural state. Neryn was in my thoughts and dreams while heading back to join our group and she told me that I would be in hers also. I sensed that she wanted to say more, but something held her back. During the journey back, Alacran remained surprisingly quiet. My thoughts remained with Neryn; she is a Spirit and there is nothing that I can do to change that. I truly hope that my father does not try to marry some spoiled nobility wretch to me. Upon returning to my father, I found out that the King had blessed my father with a troop of Nobility for the winter. Of all the underhanded things that the King has done in the past, this one is the most despicable to date. He is trying to bankrupt the Duke to prevent him from mustering the armies that the King requires. At least the monies that I received from The White Serpents’ Lair will be well spent. I hope that my companions will feel the same way. What if it were possible? Would father accept Neryn? Eosin, I know that there are some errors above, but I couldn't find my notes to correct them. I would appreciate a little help.
  2. Re: No Dominion - A FH Story Hour Thanks for being a great resource and the entertaining reading. This sounds like a game I would love to participate in with all of you. I prefer this style of play with limited magic items, strong characters, and a good story. Eosin does a fantastic job of keeping it interesting for all concerned. He lets the charactors get as involved as they want to, or in as much Kimchi as they can stomach. I would have thought that a GM of this calibur would be hard to find, but our group is blessed with another also. See the link below for the exploits of the Omega Team when Torean runs the show and Eosin is a PC. http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13463 No, I am not schmoooooozing for anything, just agreeing with the statement that this campaign is a blast to be a part of. We are now trying to produce our PC's timeline for the few months before we go kill us some Trolls. Here again, we can go into as much detail as we want to, but still remain within the constraints of the campaign. BTW Eosin, Great avatar!
  3. Re: San'Dora Map Is Up Just to place my .02.... Before I knew it, I had spent two hours in awe! T & A!!!!! Kudos to Keith!

  5. Re: No Dominion - A FH Story Hour Here is an excerpt from Jayme's journal... The strangest things are thought of when you face death. I must write this down in my journal, lest I forget. Last night, while standing, yes I was STANDING on the water, behind the Synod’s ship, the Sea Dancer. Just before I unleashed the power of Elan, in one of the most wondrous displays of might that I have yet seen. That ship was torn from Stern to stem and disappeared beneath the surface, where we were standing, as if it were never there. My thoughts of late have been quite skewed; I shall start with my memory that began this chain of events. One that has been buried deep inside, where my thoughts rarely venture. I was but a whelp, too young to help my father, but too old to stay at home with the women folk. On one fine summer day, I was exploring the rocks along the shore of the Braybrook River. What I was looking for does not matter. I got careless and slipped on a rock. The resulting fall brought a good portion of the bank that I was climbing on down with me. The last memory of that event was watching the sunlight glisten on the surface as the rocks and I sank down to the bottom of the Fjord. I recall waking up on the shore with a very sore head. I never figured out how I had gotten from the bottom of the Fjord near the rocky embankment to the sandy beach; let alone how I survived the fall. What stayed with me was a feeling that there was something alive in the water. It could not be seen, it could not be touched and it darn near killed me. From that day on, I stayed as far from the water as I could. My father often chastised me for my fear of water, telling me that what I fear most shall be what will ultimately bring me to my death. My brother was merciless in his exploitation of my “fault” as he called it. Whenever he could, he would push, pull or drag me to one of the many channels of water that were always nearby. The net result of his torment was that I loathed any water where I could not see the bottom. How I survived my younger days, I’ll never know; what with my brush with burning alive also. But that is another chapter in this journal. While enjoying some R&R time after joining with father in our escape from the Ravenwoods, we had several days to recuperate. Feeling the natural return of Elan was wondrous. I found myself seeking solitude to regain what could not be gotten in those woods. On one such trip out, I met up with a Vintrian Druid who called himself Thorjack. In total, I spent the better part of four days deep in conversation with the wise old Druid. When I asked about the White Serpant, he suggested that I meet an acquaintance of his. What I met was beyond belief. Thorjack led me to the nearby river, where he invited me to join him in the water. He knew that I was troubled, but convinced me that all was fine, and that if I helped him, my life would be changed forever. For a good hour, he chanted a melodious tune to the four winds all the while throwing handfuls of water in all directions. It was as if he was inviting his best friend to join him. I had no idea what I was in for. With no warning, Neryn, a water spirit arose in front of Thorjack, just off center between us. She was beautiful, she is water, but she had form! Women that I have known, pale in comparison to Neryn. She spoke, but she did not talk; yet I understood her. Thorjack introduced us to each other, and it was as if she had known me since birth. Little did I know, she had. After I regained my composure, I asked her if she had ever heard of the White Serpent, or knew of the abyss in Therod, to which she repied Yes - on both counts. I listened closely as she explained to me how it was that she knew all that she knew. I asked her if there was anything that she could teach me about my fear of water, and before I had finished my question, without hesitation she enveloped me. The pure feeling of safety and comfort immediately sprang forth. We were only waist deep in water, yet I was totally immersed in water. I was BREATHING water for an instant. As quickly as it had begun, she withdrew, and I now knew how it was that I survived that fall so many years ago, for it was Neryn who had rescued me. As quickly as the wind changes direction, my life has now been changed ever so slightly. I do not fear the water any more, because now I know that Neryn is there. She is everywhere that there is running water, her life force should be an inspiration to us all.
  6. Re: How many is enough?? I'm gonna have to go with the general sentiment of this thread.....3 - 5 PC's work best for most adventures. When there are 6 or more, unless you really enjoy the company, it tends to get rather boring. Please keep in mind that a great DM can smooth over the size of the group to a certain extent, but IMHO the best group is under 6.
  7. He's gotten pretty good with the "teasers", Hasn't he?
  8. Edsel, That would really be a COOL concept! I like the way that this man thinks! (referring to Killer Shrikes' ideas) I'm not sure how I could help, but I would certainly do what I could!
  9. Maybe you could have them read the thread below about the Omega Team from Hudson City Which lasted over two years on a weekly meet. ********see link below****** http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13463 And perhaps that might generate some interest! We can only hope! Good Luck!
  10. Be very thankful for that! What I remember most about the man, was his Fried / BBQ chicken dinner that He and his wife put on for our group just a few weeks before his demise. The man did have his eccentricities. I also lost my oldest brother to this most selfish form of destruction. I can tell you that there is no other pain quite like this. But lets get back to the FUN stuff! I can't wait for the next installment! But I am curious about when Edsel will be able to post it........you see, Eosin is running his campaign tommarrow night and that does not leave Edsel much time to post another segment. Regretfully, We all may have to wait until Sunday! And Yes, that would be WAY PAST OMEGA HOUR! Until then.......
  11. ***laughter fills the halls*** He is probably workin on his house - it's been a great day here in OKC. But, your right......It's past the Omega Hour.......
  12. Sorry, just an honest little bump:cool:
  13. Edsel (the GM responsible for the Omega Team) is extremely intuitive and downright amazing at times. Some of the lengths he goes to to add "flavor" to the settings are unbelievable. He has published entire "ragsheets", complete frontpage newspapers from Hudson City, with original artwork for the papers namesake, aged & weathered partial manuscripts, flyers and the like. All this in he name of his campaign. I for one, bow to his skill at the head of the table. Our group is doubly blessed in that we have another GM / PC that also goes to extreme lengths for the campaign that he heads up. KUDOS to both Edsel & Eosin.
  14. Just reading about this "as yet not-started campaign", is making me yearn for the first night! It sounds like it could even be better than the Omega Team. *****Trust me on this, The Omega Team Campaign will be VERY HARD TO TOP!***** I can't wait!
  15. I had forgotten obout the Brain Blasters Those things were NASTY! And this new Japanese-man Robert Wang. He claims to represent the Hudson City Health & Medical group was really quick! If I remember correctly, He was a ROYAL PAIN IN THE ARSE!
  16. Edsel, Do you propose to post all of the interviews? Just curious....... I believe that I still have all of the copies that you had sent out, in case that you need them....... Hint*******Hint***** *****
  17. I must admit Eosin, that while it is quite humorus in HINDSIGHT:D , it did always appear that you did take the brunt of most of the initial vollies. You generally overcame the situation and came out smellin like the proverbial rose. I rationalize this by comparing the calibur and style of the players. NO CONTEST. I hope that you never personalized this, and have long since recognized that situations like this crop up in almost all scenarios. In any event, it was still a blast!
  18. Yes, I do fondly:( recall that, along with the "classroom" HOWEVER, I am sorry to say that NightStick would not have handled the problem that way, and, he didn't. NightStick usually made it a point to be NOWHERE NEAR Predator during any "planned" activities.
  19. The only problem that WE would have had with the grenade thing is, well, for the slower players:D it would have meant certain death, and not for the one who was the abuser. The inviso thing worked pretty good, taking into consideration all of the aspects of the balance of the team getting hosed quite often.
  20. Bottom Line is KUDOS to BOTH ED'S
  21. The below is taken from the above post from Edsel.... For what it's worth, Edsel, You did a fantastic job! Thank You! From what I have seen, this brought back many enjoyable moments! To see NightStick in print, is almost like a resurrection! From what I am told, Thanks go out to Killer Shrike for the additional coding done to allow the complete story to be told:D THANK YOU! KILLER SHRIKE! The bottom line now means that I have to go out and get a copy of HD. I'll get ovet it!
  22. The CORPS huh, You don't mean Uncle Sams Misguided Children - per chance? Been there - Done that - back in 77. Cripes, when I put it that way I even sound old to myself! This wouldn't be the forums if there wasn't some off-kilter stuff! But seriously, Getting back to the threaded topic...... In response to Eosin, Joe Dishwasher had regained all of health two days prior to his day of glory. God that was fun!
  23. Re: Re: Part 10 If you have not figured this out yet, YES, Edsel is quite evil, and he is very good at it also! I believe that these elements are what made this campaign so enjoyable and memorable! If I have time, I will try to post NightSticks charactor, but here again, he was done on an old Excel spreadsheet before HD was available. I don't know if he was ever drawn up on HD. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm:cool: I wonder if doing this could revive Joe Dishwasher?
  24. That all depends on the type of medium the Artist is using..... If it is done in pencil - Absolutely no good, it smudges, smears and fades too quickly. If however it is done with with inks - Very good, doesn't smear (after the ink dries) and resists fading (depends on source of lighting). Only one drawback for the ink, it's side-effect is blood poisoning. OOOoooooops.
