1. Re: How do you feel about House Rules?

"Con Stunned" is a game specific term than replaces a game specific Mechanic.
Being the one who used "CON Stunned" here in the first place, I can state that your assumption that the term "is a game specific term" is incorrect.

And sounds dumb to boot.
Keep in mind that your opinion does not equate to a fact. Not to mention "sounds dumb" is a bit ironic.

YMMV

2. Re: %E villiian sorucebooks

If your friend can afford it, tell him to look at the HERO Online Store and check out some of the bundles. Not only are the bundles a cheap way to buy multiple books, but like the 5E books from HERO, they're all 1/2 price! I plan on purchasing every 1/2 price Bundle for Champions I can afford. There's an awesome bundle for Star HERO that I'm debating on picking up. And if I pick that up, there are two other inexpensive books that look to complete the collection - and I don't even play Star HERO! (The bundle is just too good to pass up - and could feasibly help me run some alien invasions. :eg: ) Make sure your friend purchases at least $50 worth, because they're still including a free (older) book with each $50+ purchase.

3. Re: DC and Marvel: What Makes Them Different?

When I stopped reading comics about 20 years ago, Marvel was the negative, cynical group that sowed mistrust. DC had a positive outlook and was encouraging. Marvel was constantly killing characters and bringing them back. DC "killed" Superman with a piss-poor plot device for a sales boost. Marvel was constantly telling you which issues were collector's issues (and providing at least four different covers). DC was trying spin-offs. DC had continuity, Marvel had flavor-of-the-month power changes.

4. Re: Champions Villains Volume 4: Fan Favourites

From an old 250 point game:

Legion: This was a super with duplication powers (had hundreds of 100-150 point duplicates; about a thousand 50pt followers) and in charge of the city's DEMON branch. His secret ID was the mayor of the city.

Matriarch: Demon (succubus, I think) who was his 2nd in command, had a two powerful Mind Control powers (8d6, fully invisible; 12d6 - both only vs males). Despised being commanded by Legion but couldn't escape on her own

Speed Demon: The only 12 speed character I've created - It's purpose was to draw blood from Legion's enemies so Legion could make clones of them and then replace them (with his Duplicates). [While I did get the chance to draw blood from two team NPCs and one or two team PCs, I didn't have the opportunity to create 150 point duplicates to fight their 250+ pt selves.]

Plot: Two political opponents are having heated discussions in campaign's city on any issue, reported on by media (more as background flavor). One takes a vacation and when the two meet again, they are amicable and some legislation is passed.

Plot: PC's contact has suspicions of a "plot" from either a super group (PSI?) or foreign enemy (Eurostar? Menton? Egypt? China?) working at city level. Worried the mayor is a target. After a few meetings, the contact seems indifferent about such a "plot" and was just an unfortunate misunderstanding on the contact's part.

Plot: PC's DNPC/love interest/friend, who knows about the PC's Secret ID, receives minor injuries (cuts, scrapes, bruises) from minor fender bender or fall at work, etc. A day or two later, the NPC is completely healed and has no knowledge of PC's secret ID.

Plot: PCs begin to investigate the strange body snatching cases. Once they determine a link (all are in key positions of power for someone wanting to control the city), they are ambushed by Speed Demon, perhaps Matriarch, and dozens of skilled normals (maybe DEMON brothers and/or initiates) (PCs should lose, but you never know).

Plot: PCs somehow are invited to an event with city mayor who takes an interest in them from afar (doesn't shy away from them if they approach). Anyone who tries to read the mayor's mind (to see if he's been brainwashed, abducted, etc.) receives a damage shield EGO Attack.

Plot: PCs encounter their "evil" duplicates and some initiates & brothers, but should win (maybe 250 point duplicates versus 350 point supers)

Climatic Main Event: PCs receive help from an anti-DEMON, anti-mystic NPC who helps putting missing pieces together. Together (and more subtly), the group invades Legion's secret domain, discovers a massive orgy. (NPCs are unaware of PCs presence.) Once Legion is aware, he summons his other duplicates (teleportation), who are unprepared (having been in similar debauchery events or asleep, etc.) This could be the chance for Matriarch to break free of Legion's control. Will she flee or seek revenge?

5. Re: CU Hero-vs.-Hero Scenarios

Jurisdiction disputes:

• PRIMUS demands a villain that the PCs captured in a foreign country.
• This can be between cities, counties or states. Either the PCs are chasing a criminal across these borders and the "home" law enforcement demands the criminal first OR another super group forces their will upon the heroes' city to get a villain off the streets.
• International waters: A villain with no disclosed home is caught by the PCs, but what happens when UNTIL agents show up as well as another supergroup and/or normal military personnel from a less-than-friendly nation (who might have no UN status or simply not care about UNTIL's presence).
• The PCs chase a villain group into another state. Another super group from another state shows up. Everyone wants the villain captured, but by their side.

Some of these would work better if a scenario such as the villain/criminal agrees to give the PCs some much-needed info if the PCs allow him to go free, but the rival person/group doesn't care about that agreement.

Create/use some rivalries!

Cavalier and Defender have a rivalry. Do any of your PCs? If so, use them where they're going after the same bad guy. The first hero to miss (or miss significantly) accidentally hits the other person. If the NPC is hit, make him instantly think it was on purpose and starts to attack the PC, if the PC is hit, make the NPC say something like, "Sorry" and then the PC can hear a muttering of "sort of." Maybe the two fight it out, then (hopefully) the PC convinces them to go after the villain and when the villain finally goes down, the NPC does a type of sucker punch to take the villain away (and perhaps take the spotlight in the media "Why, yes, I was able to single-handedly defeat this guy right after he beat [said PC]," or "It's a shame [PC] wasn't able to last against [the villain]. But kids, I exercise daily and drink my Nar-Sports drink to keep refreshed. Maybe I'll send a case to [PC], so he can stay in the fight!"

6. Re: Justice League-type DC/Champions campaign. Advice, please.

As a reminder, this is what the thread is about:

I've recently started a DC Adventures Campaign that I'm switching over to the Champions Complete rules set when I can (I'm still reading the rules). I'm not in a hurry to make the switch. I want to do it right. So I'm learning the rules now. Once the theory is down' date=' we'll play some combats then a couple of one-offs before actually switching. I plan on using DC characters and plenty of home-brew characters. The [i']DCA Power Level of the campaign is 16 (out of 20). I'm currently considering 650 point characters. I'm looking for any advice I can get as to point levels and any caps or restrictions that might be prudent for a JLA level team.

Alternatively' date=' is there any sage advice for a new [i']Champions GM?
I think some people tend to think it's a "my character write-up is better than yours" thread.

My opinion is that -as a new Champions GM- you would do better using 400 point characters (if you're using 6E). I like your idea of doing the combats, then one-offs and perhaps then using JLA-type characters. If there aren't any write-ups for 6E JLA characters that you like on 400 points, then my suggestion is to look at the 5E 350 point characters and then just convert them over to 6E (which shouldn't be too difficult, even if time consuming).

YMMV

7. Re: Recommendations and Reviews of Superhero products both old and new

That's what I get for having 20 EGO' date=' 20 PRE, and 20 COM[/quote']

When did you get drained? I have the PM still where it used to be a 30 EGO.

That's her 5E 350 point version. She's reverted back to posting 4E 250 point characters, so that's the write-up she's referencing.

Back to the review thing...for 5th edition...I'll recommend...Champions Battlegrounds...

Champions Battlegrounds also includes a large number and variety of detailed maps which can be reused for subsequent adventures.

I do like Champions Battlegrounds for its adventures as stand-alone ones. I didn't care for the tying them all together portion.

8. Re: CU Hero-vs.-Hero Scenarios

Cavalier and Defender don't see eye to eye and might just come to blows over some tactic used when a villain/monster/creature gets away.

While good friends, there might come a breaking point where Sapphire and Witchcraft and/or Silver Avenger Mayte Sanchez get into a love triangle spat/misunderstanding. (Mud, water fountain/pool, or feather pillowed locale is optional.)

Binary Man, while technically a hero, might have to defend his company from the heroes trying to force an investigation.

Anyone with the "annoyed at dark, droopy and disgruntled" would have a reason to punch Nighthawk.

Ironclad might be accommodating to a gladiator/charity brawl.

9. Hello all,

I've noticed that there isn't a sticky here for Book of the Empress, Foxbat for President and perhaps some others. Are there forum reviews for these elsewhere? I'm guessing since these are Kickstarter books they aren't officially HERO Product Line, is that correct?

I tried a search for both, but didn't bring them up (may not mean much as my searches tend to fail, for whatever reason).

Thank you for your time.

10. Re: Women of the Champions Universe (Fanpictorial)

OK' date=' I'll bite. What are the other few colors that do not exist in the visual light spectrum?[/quote']
Technically' date=' neither black nor white are part of the spectrum either, I think.[/quote']I keep getting told black and white are shades, not colors.

If I remember correctly (and it's been a few years), there was a show on History Channel or Science Channel that talked about light and they stated if you laid out the film of a movie roll for a movie that lasted about two hours, one frame would cover the visible spectrum and the rest would be those humans can't normally perceive.

Now, I don't recall if this is science fact or accepted science theory (like dark matter and dark energy being used as a filler to cover for things science can't explain), but that was the explanation of the full light spectrum, to the best of my memory.

11. Re: Women of the Champions Universe (Fanpictorial)

Just found the thread today.

Nice art work. While I think Scorpia is the best drawing...

Gloriana.

I like this pose the best because it looks like you were drawing a real woman. A lot of "super" art seems to be drawn in action or in a pose we normally wouldn't see (one knee raised up to the rib cage, standing but pushing the hips out far). Also, the artwork does seem to be improving in quality over time. Kudos to you!
12. Re: Conspiracy Theory: Who was really behind the destruction of Detroit?

The cosmic entity called the Examiner' date=' from [i']Champions Beyond, puts sapient beings of power (such as superhumans) through various physical, intellectual, and emotional trials, to study their responses. The Battle of Detroit and its aftermath provided plenty of all three.
I was making tea and thinking of a creating a character with a Foxbat rivalry when I was reminded of this post. Initially, I didn't think the Examiner would test the heroes this way; however, this could have been the Examiner testing Destroyer.
13. Re: Wishful Thinking...

Well, I suppose if you're a detective, you could wish really hard to find out who did this, how and why, but then you'd probably ruin it for everyone else.

I don't have any current characters, but I had a Teen Champion named Duo (duplicator, cosmic sfx powers) who'd probably wish for enhanced powers and his own harem, just probably not in that order.
