Or perhaps, being a sea creature, Namor could simply be "controlled" the same way Author controls other fishies.

Apparently he wants all magic to leave behind a residue (pixie dust?) detectable by other mages.

Fantasy Hero 4th Ed had conversion notes for D&D 2nd to Hero. I've found they work well for conversions. Also if you look around the web for a website called DungeonHero it would help. The person there converted a TON of D&D stuff to Hero4. Not the same as five I know but it's a good starting point at least

Well, the "world' is basically the world of Warhammer (with Warhammer 40K thrown in if you have the Timescape expansion).
As a setting, the Warhammer Fantasy RPG wasn't bad - if a little generic.

Reaper Miniatures has just started a line of superhero minis based on a licence of Silver Age Sentinels. Sandra L. Garrity (for those familiar) is the lead sculpter for the line.
What Reaper was showing off at GAMA looked pretty good - they aren't 25mm but they're close. Reaper calls them 30mm - which makes them a little bit smaller then HeroClix, but larger then most of the "old" superhero minis (such as teh old Grenadier DC Heroes figs).

Well, I probably won't be using Terran Empire, but I do plan on eventually revisting my earlier attempt to get players interested in a based on the Honor Harrington setting.

It's not really Ars Magica, but it's pretty similar. Browse to http://www.sysabend.org/champions/spoo/index.html and download Haymaker Article Volume 1, Issue 2.

Create a blank template of cut outs the right size, draw or scrounge some pictures, lay them out on the template, then print them on light cardstock.
I made a few sets (and then got board with the project). You can download them from here: http://www.sysabend.org/champions/spoo/CardboardHeroes.html

I converted a bunch of the creatures from Lodoss to 4th edition (should still be close enough to work). If you're interested, check out http://www.sysabend.org/champions/spoo/index.html and download Volume 1, Issue 3 of my Haymaker articles.

If you can find it, the old "Justice, Inc." from Hero Games was one of the best period resource books I've ever seen.

Re: Legion of Superheros.
It may or may not be helpful, but at one time I had started writing a LSH inspired campaign book. I grew very dissatified with it and quite, but what I did is here: http://www.sysabend.org/champions/campaigns/c3k/index.html
