  1. Re: The cranky thread My work is trying to get me to go into hibernation. The heat's set at 70. It has NOT been 70 degrees in that office. When I'm wearing a turtleneck and a sweater, and my fingers are turning blue, it is NOT seventy degrees. If only I could afford some thermals . . .
  2. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Yup. And it's actually pretty new to me. Hey, Stephen King and Stuart O'Nan's book about the Sox came out this week.
  3. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Just as a fair warning, guns generally bore me. Unless they're, y'know, in use.
  4. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER HEY! Who tried to kill the thread?
  5. Re: The cranky thread There's been a restaurant moving in next door to where I work . . . since I started working there. But they're serious now, have an opening date and a "Now Hiring" sign and everything. So I've been putting up with their contruction noise, construction vehicles, blocking of our receiving port, and their use of our fax machine (which makes a REALLY annoying noise when you forget to hit '9' for an outside line). But today, they hit our water main while they were digging. All day without working bathrooms, sinks or water fountains. There were working bathrooms in the next store over . . . a whole 2 of them. Water's fixed now. My mood is not.
  6. Re: The cranky thread I might not mind our current flea problem quite so much if I could just figure out where the damn things came from. It's November - they're supposed to be decreasing in number. For starters. Second, both our cats are exclusively indoor cats. And we didn't have this problem a year ago. In fact, we hadn't a hint of a single flea wince we'd moved in. Until now. Argh. At least I'm not too squeamish about killing them barehanded. That means that all the little pink speckles on my feet were worth it, in that each perpetrator of the pink speckles is now dead by my hand.
  7. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I've done my part.
  8. Re: The cranky thread Lotsa hand washing. Hand sanitizer, if you have it, too. Try not to touch your face. Try not to touch anything they've touched or sneezed on. Good luck!
  9. Re: The cranky thread I've had 2 colds in the last month. Which wouldn't be so bad if not for the lingering cough. See, due to 2 instances of pneumonia as a child, I have a lingering, deep, rattly cough whenever I do cough. It alarms people. But more than anything, I want my co-worker to quit joking that I have distemper.
  10. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER No particular reason. Just needed to sleep sometime, and realized that internet was cutting severely into exercise, dinner and social time. And I won't come here during work. I'm trying to increase the ratio of time worked:time at work, not decrease it.
  11. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Well, if you want Josh THAT bad . . . I should probably ask him first, though. Maybe if I agreed to take pictures . . .
  12. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Oh, Skaramine's back. So am I. Hi. (sorry, too turkey-doped to start a fight tonight.)
  13. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER . . . . Moving along. What's up with the hot-button threads? We have a gloating thread, we have an abortion thread, and another on homosexuality. Are people easing off the daily arguments slowly to reduce the withdrawal symptoms, or have we forgotten how to have a civil conversation without vast disagreements? Or is it something else?
  14. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER So are you coming upstairs, hon, or do I have to get the REAL whip? :whip:
  15. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER It was discovered over on the apology thread. Pay attention!
  16. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Sweetie, will you come upstairs? I'll make it worth your while . . . But first, you have to get down on your knees and apologize for everything you've ever done or said wrong.
  17. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I think it's because we haven't really gotten into politics on this one. But if we did, we'd run the risk of getting the thread locked. Oh, the irony. I can pretend to be mad at Josh again. That seemed to add a few pages last time.
  18. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I hate to drag politics into the randomness, but the irony of this is far too delicious for me to NOT post it. Also, I'd piss a lot of you off, I suspect, if I started a whole new thread about it. "A political candidate who jumps to conclusions without knowing the facts is not a person you want as your commander-in-chief." -- George W. Bush
  19. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER http://www.makingfiends.com No, I didn't type the url wrong. Go. Be amused. Or be yourself, entertained. Whatever.
  20. Re: Musings on Random Musings Glad you like it. I swiped it off the Making Light boards. It's apparently a Cherokee proverb. I had a hard time figuring how that could be, but couldn't find any credits for it. So I just unabashedly stole it.
