Re: New Pulp Hero Game on Hero Central
Any more interested parties wanting to apply?I was going to keep accepting apps up until the 10th, but if no one else is interested I might wrap it up early.
If you are interested, but don't have the time right now, just post saying so, so I'll know to wait.
I'm in no rush here so I don't mind waiting, but if no other apps are coming in then we can move on with character creation.
I'm working on something right now that should fit the Mysterious Foreign Martial Artist for the group. May take a couple of days, though.

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
Now that you mention it. Why did they edit that out?Actually, the deleted scenes were never in the theatrical release, but were added back to the film to pad out the run time to fit the two-hour time block of the original network television release. (A common practice back in the days when it was a big deal for a semi-recent theatrical hit to be shown on the teevee. I can still remember how big a deal it was to see Star Wars on the small screen.) Depending on how much time a station is trying to fill nowadays, you might see some of the extra nine (and change) minutes added, but you're more likely to see about ten minutes removed to fit the original 93 minute film into a hour and a half slot.

Re: X-Men: The Next Generation campaign on Hero Central
Here's a few ideas for possible characters off the top of my head:
Noir, son of Silhouette and Night Thrasher, mutant/mutate Darkforce wielder
Arc, son of Storm and Arkon, mutant lightning bolt thrower
Express, son of Cannonball and Lila Cheney, mutant teleporter
Dog Soldier, son of Tom Corsi and Sharon Friedlander, mutant brick/weaponsmaster
The Victorian, timelost mutant hyperinventor and son to Mister Sinister

Re: Name for a Pulp Hero group?
Hmmm' date=' thanks for the reply and I see your point but I don't think it's entirely true. They guys running both our pulp games are big pulp fans. The one running our crime fighters pulp game is old enough to remember the pulps, radio shows and serials. Both of them recall the Shadow, Phantom Detective, The Mandrake, The Spider and Flash Gordon of all things coming together and they had some sorta group name. Can't remember what the name was and it was seldom all of them at the same time but it was like the Justice League. [/quote']Indeed. The group consisted of the Phantom, Mandrake, Lothar, Flash Gordon, and assorted children and hangers on and was called the Defenders of the Earth. Set in the year 2015, it debuted in 1986 as a syndicated cartoon that lasted one season, and a Marvel comic that lasted four issues. It's link to it's pulp roots is tenuous, to say the least.
That said, if you want a suitably pulpy name, I'd go with something like "The Six Fingers of the Phantom" or "The Phantom's Secret Six". You're all Mystery Men (Women); be mysterious.

Re: X-Men: The Next Generation campaign on Hero Central
Let us not neglect to mention that the New Thunderbolts game was run by Supreme Serpent, aka el Generalissimo Serpiente*, who had to drop out due to Real Life pressures.
Drat. Now I'll never get to play the Goblin King...

Re: What is your favourite Masks (Luhadore Masks)
I really dig Mistico's all-silver mask, myself.

Re: What is your favourite Masks (Luhadore Masks)
I'm a little ashamed to admit I like the delightfully tacky Shark Boy.Nothing wrong with that - fun wrestler, great guy in real life. Probably best that he wears a mask, though.

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
We were told Golden Age game and we faced nazis who totured, dismembered, and experimented with the bodies and psyches of innocents...Highlights to share? The brief funny moments.
What about the point where you flipped the table and started kicking the GM? I'd have gotten a laugh from that.

Just a note - Fantagraphics Books has recently released the first volume in a set of reprints of the Segar strips.

Re: [interest in a HeroCentral game]
Kirby, sorry I didn't get anything in for your game, but the holiday and Black Friday took a lot of the time I had to do character work. (I was looking at updating a character from early days, like Crusader or Brick.) Good luck with the game, and I'll keep an eye out for any future calls for players.

Bonus points if you have him secretly backed and subtly directed by a group of neocons who use his actions to their political advantage...

Re: [Possible Game] Furry Heroes
And' date=' if there would be any such interest, what sort of things would folks want to see in it? Exclusively furry? Furry/human mix? Primarily human with a handful of anthro characters (Loonatics Unleashed style)?[/quote']Personally, I find, storywise, the primarily human setting more interesting. I'd much rather play in the "Trapped in a World They Never Made" style of a TMNT or Howard the Duck than an "everyone's an anthro" Zoo Crew/Justa Lotta Animals setting. There's more reason for the characters to be together, and less puns, to boot.
