    Beastboy

Re: Beastboy Where are you getting that Multi-Form can't go in a pool? Multi-Form itself is a standard power and according to the text on page 212 there's nothing at all that forbids it from being in a pool. As far as the senses go just buy them on the multi-form itself. I do agree with the limitations you brought up though. My suggestion to the OP is to stat it up as a Multi-Form VPP and then just stat out a variety of animals for the player to shape-change into. Let him know that if you guys need stats for something that you guys haven't stated before the game starts that you'll base it off one of the stated forms. If he wants to come up with new and unique forms to use frequently then let him but let him know that you guys aren't going to let it slow the game down. In other words make sure he knows new form means you guys will be winging it, new form he wants to use a bunch will have to be winged until after the session is over then it'll get stated out fully if needed.
  2. Re: Power Armored Heroes on 350pts I built a multi-form mimic character who could always take on the forms he'd learned. The game effect I used for this was to buy 'naked' multi-forms, in other words I bought like 16 multi-forms but only defined two of them. As the game progressed I was planning on spending some xp on additional multi-forms if I needed it. Something similar could be done with a multipower with the GMs permission, the point value wouldn't be to obscene especially if done in fixed slots. If you're guns the only thing that really changes it would be even easier since you already have the multipower for that. This of course assumes a permanent copying of the new tech. A vpp could do it to. For VPP Limitations; Only Attack Powers (-1/4), Only to Mimic Technological Devices (-1), Burnout 15- (Permanent Unless Re-Mimiced, Applies Only to Slots; -1/4), Powers May Only Be As Powerful as Mimiced Device (-1/2). Then if you want more stipulations Requires Successful HTH Attack Roll (-1/2) and Suit to Device Contact Required (-1) could work. Even with all of that though a VPP is still going to be expensive since you can't modify the Pool Cost. *edit* And I'm slow. Beast's multipower slots should do the trick aside from the drains
  3. Re: A progressive multiform. The triggered Aid idea for this I thought about as well. Just building the characters he switches into by adding limitations to his powers might get pretty complicated considering the growth cycles they'd go through. Personally I like the idea you have for this braincraft though I don't know that I'd call one way right and the other wrong. Multi-Form has a lot of potential for abuse and this is actually one potential example of it. Not saying what the OP is shooting for is abusive, just that edging high point characters into a low-powered campaign is possible with Multi-Form and it's something the GM should really look at to make sure game balance is maintained. Honestly though I think Multi-Form with a limitation is the simplest way to represent what the character is shooting for. When I first read the OP I thought he was shooting for another form of progressive multi-form were the multi-forms each take multi-form and you basically hit a point were the system breaks. Infinite character points.
  4. Re: A progressive multiform. The math looks right to me. As far as the gradual effect thing I don't know. No conscious control might be one way to do it, gradual effect another. Probably the best bet would be a Limited Power (Can only use multi-form progressively and only after x time in previous form). Or x time in combat or x amount of whatever depending on how you want to work it.

    Dementator

Re: Dementator The first thing that struck me looking over the character is how does this belt work? Every power was bought to zero-end and I don't see any mention of charges. Does it have an infinite power supply of some kind? Also to buy a damage shield to persistent it looks like it needs to be bought to constant first, as per the FAQ and this power effect from CK&C Fiery Form: HKA 2d6, Continuous (+1),Damage Shield (does damage in HTH combat; +¾), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +½), Persistent (+½); Always On (-½), No STR Bonus (-½).
  6. Re: Fueled By *** Power Help Yeah, that's one of the ideas I was playing with when I brought up charges. Basically put charges on the power (actually a TK EC) that could only be recharged when struck by five or ten points of physical damage and that faded quickly if not used. And it was late when I wrote the thread title . Fueled by Physical Damage would have been better and less confusing.
  7. Re: Fueled By *** Power Help That's true for the general effect. Part of the way I'm envisioning it though is that it takes a lot of direct energy to get the ball rolling so to speak and that that energy bleeds off very quickly if not used up. As an example I was going to do Absorption 5d6 with Increased Fade Rate (-20 per Turn). So assuming the character can hit 60 END in a single Turn and didn't use any of it or get hit again by the end of Turn Four all the stored energy would have bled off. That high fade rate would also bleed off any minor returns from walking, running, etc. But in general I do agree that other similar effects could pick up some recovery.
  8. Re: Fueled By *** Power Help Yeah, it's the most logical way to do it and frankly it's the way that 'fits' best with the power idea. When I put it down on paper though by the book I felt like I was paying way to much for the TK powers considering the effective limitation I was putting on them. Not to mention the extra points shelled out for absorption. Maybe a Limited Power (Power Fueled by Empty Power Reserve; -1) limitation coupled with Absorption and an END Reserve would feel like it fit better. As far as the friends slapping the character around thing it would be possible but I'd work in some RP reason for that not to happen. It just feels hokey to me to have the character get hurt on purpose to fuel his powers and frankly doesn't feel very heroic.
  9. I've seen the idea of having absorption fuel an end reserve come up a few times and I'm trying to get something workable that's similar. The power effect is basically hero gets hit, hero can use telekinetic attacks. If he's not getting punished then his telekinetic abilities don't operate at all. He basically stores up the energy and unleashes it. Some basic guidelines would be that the energy needs to dissipate quickly, if built using absorption an increased fade rate would probably work. I've looked at using charges, having absorption fuel the charges for the TK powers, but that still leaves me with trying to figure out how many base charges the power would have, rather or not it recovers on it's own (which it shouldn't), and setting up an absorption to tk ratio that doesn't limit the character concept more then needed (a base charge of 1 on his TK level would require 60 points of absorption to fuel once). Another thought is ditching absorption completely and just using charges that Only Recharge When Character is Struck in Combat with maybe Charges Fade After 1 minute or something like that. I've also played with Absorption to End Reserve and TK only works off End Reserve but ended up with a very limited power that was very expensive. Anyone have any thoughts on how to put something like this together?
  10. Re: Complex Power Build I like that idea. Once I figure out how to install Hero designer I''ll play around with it and post a follow up thread with the character. Thanks for all the ideas everyone.
  11. Re: Complex Power Build I like this idea. Not sure if my GM will go for it but it does take care of the going from one form to the other. I thought about doing it this way but I want the breadth of his distraction to increase with every personality he learns to clone. Especially if I do it as a VPP as opposed to just a large number of undefined multiforms. I want a real draw back for him having so many people inside his head and for it to get worse with the more personalities he shares his mental space with. I like this. I want Shyft to be able to resist the accidental change using his ego possibly vs. the ego of the other personalities.
  12. Okay I'm building a character with a large number of undefined multiforms who is able to clone other people he comes in physical contact with. Once he clones them he basically copies their intire character sheet as one of his available multi-forms, complete with psychological limitations. Now the kicker is that I want to work in some sort of limitation on the power so that the more personalities he abosorbs the crazier he gets. I was thinking like maybe a -1 to perception checks or possibly all intellegence based rolls per 2 or 4 personalities he clones becuase each personality becomes something of a voice inside his head once he clones them. The voices only affect the true form who is in a way a link between the others and the dominant personality. When he shifts into another multiform all the voices go still except for the multiforms and maybe a very quiet voice of the ture form. Secondly I want the multiform power built so that it takes a full phase action to switch (if it doesn't already have to check my book) which is easy enough and also so that he has to switch to his true form inbetween shifts to his secondary forms. For example he can't go directly from cloned guy A to cloned guy B he has to become true form before he can hit cloned guy B. This affect I'm pretty sure I can work out easily enough but their is one more I'm having problems with. Because Shyft has the clones in his subconcious I want it to be possible that in certain situations the clones have a chance to take over without being called up by the true form. Say Clone A is completly afraid of heights and Shyft is up on a high roof top. I want the clone to have a chance to take over as the dominante personality until the situation passes. Any suggestions on how to do this?

    Taunt

Re: Taunt LMAO. True that. But beyond that I would like the character to have some sort of ingame reflection. The player is ample at RPing such situations but we both want him to be able to over ride the better judgement of NPCs.
