Re: Your "2006" Pet Gaming Projects
Some weird WWI era game I'm working on. Heroes are Indiana Jones/James Bond type adventurers and super spies. Alternate history setting with steamtech mecha and the like. Fighting against time travelling Nazis aiding ancient German vampire warlords.

I'm sure there are plenty that won't mind the rep. You can always Rep Storn for instance.Or a sad little japanophile.

Re: Revamping the Horsemen
Unless you're going to include Ole Anderson' date=' Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and Nature Boy Ric Flair, you can't really call them the Horsemen.[/quote']Fixed it for ya.

Re: Character: Red Sonya of Rogatino
Swinging a 3-5 pound hunk of steel fast enough to be a "blur of white fire", and hard enough to kill men like "ripe grain before a reaper", takes a lot of arm strength. Especially for a long battle. You're not poking holes in them, you're slashing them. Big difference in arm strength required.
::shrug::
At first I just though you were one of those guys who seem to think period weapons weighed like ten pounds.
But I see your point now.
-
Re: Character: Red Sonya of Rogatino
Period saber? Three to four pounds. Five tops. That's what I was thinking. I think an average person could swing that around for a decent amount of time without really getting tired.
-
Re: Character: Red Sonya of Rogatino
I can easily see Sonya lifting twice as much as an average woman of that time period. So 13 Str is easily justifiable. Especially considering her general conditioning and fitness plus the ability to swing a sword for sustained periods of time. How much does that sword weigh?

Re: The Last Word
Ah.That's nothing. We have a sign for "Bat Cave."
To which I almost always wonder, often aloud, "Not much of a secret hideout if they have signs leading to it, now is it?"
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Too many bad memories related to that exit.

Re: The Last Word
But what kind of car insurance would you get?
-
Re: The Last Word
Ah. Well, that makes sense. In any case, the money's coming from a private source, not your school, or a company that wants to recruit you when you're done with school, or whatever.
Or from a public source like the government. Which really means everyone else is paying for it. Curse you socialism.

Re: The Last Word
Oh, that type is WHOLE other story . . . They're the ones who don't care if something happens to the car in the first place, 'cause Mommy and Daddy will just buy them another. There was a HUGE disparity between the upper and middle classes in my hometown. Can you tell I'm a little bitter about it?
Ouch, that hurts. lol
Nah, I do care what happens to my car, because I put a lot of money into it. My parents just pay for insurance while I'm a full time student because they want me to actually focus on my school work.

Re: Narnia Mini Review, Cross Posted from NGD
Oh' date=' don't get me wrong. I advocate the movie to anyone who will listen. You are right. There are so few good fantasy movies. I just think that, with just a little bit more screen time, it could have been a better movie. Of course that is making the assumption that any extra screen time would have been put to good use.[/quote']Quite a large assumption in today's Hollywood.

Re: The Last Word
This must be one of those European things . . . I don't think I've ever heard of an American who didn't have to pay for his or her own damn car insurance.Unless their parents pay for it.

Re: Red Monika - Valdorian Age Thief and Swordswoman
I also don't get "Hot and Violent". Why is she better at attacking males? Somehow being attractive makes her a death machine versus guys?
Made a super attractive scantily clad female has an advantage in distraction over her male opponents?

Re: Space Opera redux: one year later
Yep, you got it. Blast Pistol gives you +2 Lightning Reflexes, while a Laser HMG is -4 Lightning Reflexes. In reality, this is why we have carbines. They combine rifle firepower with greater ease of movement, with a small sacrifice in accuracy at range. In RPGs, this is rarely modelled, which frustrates me. Space Opera itself does it with melee weapons, I just went one step further and included ranged weapons.
Carbines also tend to be much easier to maintain. And cheaper. But I see where you're coming from now. For some reason the wording of it originally confused me and I was thinking you were going to let guys with big guns attack first.
-
Re: Space Opera redux: one year later
Another thing I dont particularly like is that no matter how big your gun is, you act on your Dex. I gave weapons a lightning reflexes level that adjusts how easy they are to maneuver and aim, it ranges from -4 to +4.
Wait...I think you're saying here that guys with bigger guns go later than guys with smaller guns. That's what you mean, right?
Otherwise I'm confused.

Re: Valdorian Age Campaign A Go!
He needed a friendly druid. See, one of the things that amused me in DandD is that Dinosaurs are considered "natural animals". So they are suscpetible to spells like "charm animal" and "enlarge animal"So one of my characters (Fonographix the Bard) who was tired of having his warhorses nuked, I mean fireballed, out from under him, charmed a T-Rex and then had our friendly local magic-user polymorph it into a warhorse. Better saves, better THACO, way more hitpoints and exactly the attitude you want in a warhorse.
cheers, Mark
Or take a hint from the halflings in Eberron and just the ride the dino.
