  1. Re: Pulp TV Shows I absolutely loved Johnny Quest. A new series was released at some point in the 90's, though i never saw it, and dont know how true it is to the original.
  2. Re: GAC Plots I saw a History channel program about the Japanese secret plots of WWII (can't remember the name of it though), that had a lot of very GAC story seeds. They had built submarine aircraft carriers, lauched balloons carrying anti-personnel and incendiary bombs, into the jet stream. Most of these only caused forest fires in the Pacific Northwest, but one actually caused some civilian casualties, and another cut off the electricity at a government lab. Something like that loaded with a more diabolical payload would make a great plot to stop. BTW...one of theses actually made it as far east as Indiana. The Axis also big on secret societies before the war. Most were set up to gather support, intelligence, and perform guerilla operations before a big invasion. Who knows what else they could have been up to?
  3. Re: Villian for critique He seems like he'd be pretty effective, though that depeneds a lot on what the average dcv of the PC's, but since generally he'd attack from surprise, he can pretty much call that first shot and hit. As for the telescopic sight and range skill levels, the telescopic sight would only apply to PER rolls, rather than attacks, he'd still need the range skill levels to make the actual attack. I'm not sure how it works in Sidekick, but i think Find weakness is subject to range modifiers too, and in 5E it's considered an Unusual sense rather than sight group, so to use it effectively at a long distance, you may want to get a few levels of telescopic for that as well.
  4. Re: Teen supers ideas The possibilities for the pranks a bunch of super teenagers could pull are nearly boundless depending on what they can do....and what if they pull one on the wrong person?(e.g. Carrie) You could also use the Harry Potter stories as inspiration for some of your adventures as well. It sounds pretty similar in concept.....kids with cool powers, bad supernatural enemy, etc. Assault's suggestion of the school cliques would be great too...i especially like the Teen Queen. "you should really think of going for a cape over those tights.....that color makes your ass look HUGE!"
  5. Re: Need Italian Names I've had a lot of luck just using the phone book....but I guess I'm just blessed geographically. It also depends on what period you need. A lot of mafia types in the 20's and 30's would change their names once they joined up, so they wouldn't necessarily need to be a perfect fit as far as their home regions.
  6. Re: Help with a character concept I'd highly recommend some kind of martial arts as a backup as well, since the character has lots of points in foci, and a 4-armed boxer would be incredibly menacing. I'd take multiple martial maneuvers as well to simulate with multiple power attacks the sort of tricks a guy with that many arms could pull (martial flash-eyegouge w/ offensive strike uppercuts, weapon binds/strikes etc.)
  7. Re: Defenders of Macab City One thing you could do to make an energy projector type more suitable to the campaign would be re-defining the sfx of their powers to a more street level theme. Assuming a typical EP with flight, EB,and forcefield (though i have no idea what your player has presented to you)....the EB could be wireless taser darts for a ranged attack or some kind of shock glove/gauntlet for a no range one as opposed to shooting an actual bolt of lightning, and maybe gliding patagium on their uniform....like Terry has in Batman Beyond, instead of flight. The Force field would be right out though...and would be covered by their uniform armor anyway. Though a lot of this stuff would be pretty redundant anyway since your group would have a lot of EB's from their package deals, except maybeto let them vary the defenses they affect.
  8. Re: Defenders of Macab City This sounds a lot like the campaign I currently run. I really like the unifying tie-in of the injured/retired hero, and the lower powered setting tends to make the players more inventive in their tactics in my experience, rather than relying on flashy powers. My players have shown me on numerous occasions just how "super" a power like night vision can be against normal street criminals and the like.
  9. Re: Gadget Modeling Question I'm inclined to agree with Vanguard, and recommend doing this with disads, though if he's only in pain when he uses the powers with out gauntlets i'd go with a susceptibility 3d6 instant (when powers used unregulated, uncommon circumstance) and maybe simulating the leak with a physical limitation (shorts out electrical devices, and gives a nasty but non-damaging shock to himself and those he touches), or a damage shield that's only on when he's not wearing the gauntlets.
  10. Re: PULP HERO -- What Do *You* Want To See? Sidebars in the sections on pulp locations about the local legends, lost tribes, and mythic beasties commonly assocatied with each locale would be wonderful. Even if they're not appropriate to a particular campaign it would do a lot to help capture the feel of a location
