  1. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Yeah, I had the approve then the deny. I went over to check and I wasn't in. So *shrug*. App'd again. Whee. I'ma draw a peecture once I'm done with my move and get solid descriptions and/or napkin sketches to work from.
  2. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 The game is closed to apps and since I was denied on one (dunno why it sent multiples) I'm not in :/ Waaah
  3. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Sorry to those who didn't make it with their great characters. Maybe someone can do a west coast team in the same "world"? That would be sweet!
  4. Re: DC Suckverse? It's not the first time. Flash is apparently taking a short vacation, too. There's some question as to if Wally even survives......

    Spiderman Writeup

Re: Spiderman Writeup IIRC, their discovery is often "aha!" followed shortly thereafter by destroyed webshooters (how they manage to do that almost every time but have trouble socking him on the jaw is a real mystery!)
  6. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 I like to hold off on disads until I have more of an idea of who else is on the team and a little more about the setting. Disads are fun tools to tie into the world and the other characters. At Raptor's core... strong, proud noble guy who just managed to fall short of what is expected of him (why? well... that can be a story right there). He has big boots to fill and his connections earn him no shortage of troubles.

  8. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 All minority superheroes must be half naked. Apache Chief! Black Vulcan! Samurai! El Dorado!
  9. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3
  10. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Here's a not so great sketch of Raptor with his hardlight wings deployed. When not in use, they just aren't there. I used one of the outlines from the download section provided by Hero Games here. I wanted to make the Black Panther connection strongly obvious since the wings scream Sam Wilson (the pointy bits on the mask aren't ears, they are more like fins/bird crest shape). If he makes it in, maybe I'll do something better (or even a group picture).
  11. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Doom! Oh, less "big"? Ummm... A rogue Doombot! Ok, that's not helping....
  12. Re: The COH Costume Creator (Official) So, apparently we're not allowed to post anything that isn't American? Keep that in mind, everyone. I'd hate for anyone else to get into trouble.
  13. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Yep. I think the Falcon was the first not to have "Black" as a prefix which is why I chose not to name my above idea "Black Raptor" or "Black Falcon" even though it might fit as a scion of Black Panther. I just didn't want that feel to it. Edit: Falcon in 1969, Power Man debuted in June of 72
  14. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Feel free to look and steal for your own campaigns (haven't done disads yet, though). Maybe someone might have some good ideas for him, too...
  15. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 I've done a first pass on Raptor, too (sans disads). Perhaps too light on offense, but has pretty noteworthy defense some of the time. I can do txt or hdc (not a big fan of hdc output options).
  16. Edit: The original link came from the official COH boards and there is some talk that Cuppajo is trying to get one available for the "domestic" audience. UNTIL IT IS LAUNCHED WITH A US LICENSE YOU WILL NOT REPOST THIS HERE. DO SO AGAIN AND YOU WILL BE BANNED FROM THIS SITE.
  17. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 I wouldn't mind more time between "their prime" and the new wave, myself. But it's all good. Anywho, I have a few ideas. One includes the offspring of T'Challa who does not successfully complete the Wakandan trials to assume the throne. He ends up donning the black panther garb with some alterations (he hasn't earned the right to be the BP, but he has the vibranium mesh suit and claws, etc) and... uses a newer model of the Falcon's wings. He calls himself the Raptor (so the claws are called "talons" now ) The Vision, never quite over the loss of his children... builds a child for himself. The Vision is, thus, Gepetto and Pinocchio in one. He's essentially the same design as Vision. There's lots of potential here for connections to Wonder Man, too, either conflicts or a "my two dads" situation. He'd have developed more individuality than Vision 2.0, but his design also includes failsafes to prevent him from being used for evil (hardwired anti-evil stuff??) (as a side note, can Wonder Man produce offspring, himself, since he's composed of energy? Other than him, I think only Namor might be incapable of being a baby daddy). Another idea would be the offspring of Whirlwind and the Wasp. Whirlwind, as longtime Avengers fans know, is practically obsessed with Pym. Seducing the Wasp away from him might be considered a triumph. Essentially, the offspring would have the mutant "speed" gene from dad and may or may not have access to mom's abilities (size, stings, etc). Dad's a lousy role model, it's time to make up for some things. I also like the Son of She-Hulk, idea. What kind of supertough kid might grow up with the uninhibited She-Hulk as mom? Wyatt Wingfoot or Luke Cage as dad? Oy. He's only half-hulk, so not nearly as tough, but "growing up gamma" means he's probably seen adventure most of his life and is no slouch.
  18. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Looks like more interest than available slots.
  19. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Some Avengers with long lifespans or "immortality" (and thus could still be around and/or active) include: Hercules, Thor, Wonder Man, Hulk, She-Hulk, Vision, Namor, & Machine Man
  20. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Just reading the background gave me a virtual fistfull of ideas. I'd give it a whirl
  21. Re: Detect or Bump of Direction? Ah, that solves that, then. I wasn't aware BoD required time to use, though... might have to blow some dust off the ol' book.
  22. Examples: 1) The Templar is mystically attuned to his magic sword. When he's separated from his sword, he always knows in which direction to travel to get to it. 2) Captain Jack Sparrow's "compass that doesn't point north" as an example. 3) Star Gemini always knows which direction his anti-self is in relation to himself. 4) When separated from his symbiote, Edward is always lured toward the odd creature. All he knows is that he has to go "this way." He doesn't know the distance or the exact location, just the direction. When buying a "compass" style power, is it necessary to buy range on Detect or can you just buy "Detect: Direction of X - 3 pts" (maybe add sense)? Or should something like Bump of Direction be used instead?
  23. Re: DC Universe Overview Supergirl(s) and Power Girl(s) are probably the worst places to try to introduce yourself to DC (Hawkmen, too). These are problems of Claremontian scale. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supergirl It isn't the same Supergirl from COIE. It's an alien. Or an angel. Or... uh, hell, I dunno. Power Girl is the only survivor from Earth 2, afaik. The universe had a lot of trouble trying to "fit her in" so to speak, so false histories occurred. The Teen Titans were originally the sidekicks of all the big guys who formed a club. Later, they were the guys who had a title that gave those X-people a real run for their money. I haven't followed the current incarnation, but they seem to have the same theme after a sort (Superboy, Robin, Kid Flash, Wonder Girl, etc) along with some of the "new kids" from the cool New Titans era... http://www.titanstower.com/meeting.html
  24. Re: The limits of the toolkit approach Except that OIHID was added based on what many players were doing for many years before (kind of like that lightning reflexes stuff) and that little tidbit you're hung up on was never part of what we were doing (we called it HFO - Hero Form Only). The limitation was more a means to mark out a period of time when a character was vulnerable and powerless, it had absolutely nothing to do with the difficulty of changing forms.
