For an IT guy who works from home maybe he wrote and maintains a specialized internal software package for a large dispersed company. He might be on call for support for the software, but otherwise left alone to work on bugs and upgrades.

Maybe he'd have to take the odd call while on an adventure. He could use a cell phone and a headset. I could just see it now:

Hero: "Inter-Data tech support, Mike speaking. How can I help you?"
Villain: "What? Blast your cursed swing-line, I'll soon be free of it!"
Hero: "Have you tried closing the application and restarting it?"
Villain: "Ugh! You dare lay hands on Invictor?! I will teach you the meaning of pain!"
Hero: "ARRGH!" "Did you see any error messages pop up before it crashed?"
Villain: "NOO! You've crushed my Omni-Staff! DIE WORM! Hey, who are you talking to?"
Hero: "It sounds like you'll have to do a reboot." "Unghf!" "Let's try that and see if it loads the database again."
Villain: "Are you on the phone?! You DARE take a call while fighting INVICTOR?!"
Hero: "Whuf!" "Okay, it looks like the database connection is back, go to your file menu and see if it saved your last changes."
    Villain: "PAY ATTENTION TO ME!"

You take a character from a children's book and make a character based off of it. Of course you horribly warp it first. Here's the real challenge the campaign is a more serious, darker world then normal and your characters need to fit in.

I made a character based off Clifford the Big Red Dog. My version had him being the son of Cerberus and had him expelled from hell and onto Earth by his father to save him from his father's enemies. He had fire based powers as a person and when he changed to his dog form (looked nothing like the real Clifford other then being big and mainly red) he was very strong, very fast, and capable of summoning a pack of hell hounds to serve him.

Another player decided to make Emily Elizibeth because I mad Clifford. Her version of Emily Elizibeth was a pretty gloomy 16 year old witch. The game was tons of fun and so popular we may continue to play it.

For those who might want a peek inside the process of how I do my art, check out this thread....

It is about the upcoming cover, in progress, for Pitch Black's "Razor-Edged Arcanum". An short story anthology of wizards, magic and such.

NP: Everyone's picking on me. This game is too hard. I quit.

GM: Why is my player base so stagnant?

Hero Games: Why are our sales not going up? Where are all the new players?

Off topic to the thread, but maybe the new player would have a better time, and be up to speed faster, if someone actually helped them, instead of yelling at them and abusing them for making errors. I like to get an experienced player to "buddy" the new player for a few sessions (freeing the GM from this task).

    Two worthy quotes

This wasn't actually during the game, but worth mentioning anyway. Four of our gaming group live an hour from Columbus, where the rest of the players live. Most of us are experienced gamers with many years under our belt, and we've all run at least a few games in our time. The exception is Dee, who has played less than 2 years. We were giving him some tongue-in-cheek grief over the fact that he was the only person in the car who isn't currently running a game for the group.

His reply: "Hey man... don't be a player hater."

This one is from our World of Darkness to Hero conversion, run by my lovely fiance, Sudi. It stands well on its own:

    "Jesus goes on 3."

    Humorously,
    Steve
