  1. Re: I got some players!!!.... But I need some help.. I would also suggest taking a look at http://www.roleplayingtips.com This is a weekly online article that is designed to give RPG advice for GM's and players alike. It is more for D&D, but a lot of their articles can be used for any game. They have some great articles in thier archives on how to come up with plots you might find useful.
  2. Re: I got some players!!!.... But I need some help.. I would also suggest getting a combat simulator. I have two new players in my group. Both of them are fairly smart, but they feel the rules of combat are to overwhelming. They feel it is a math class on how to take damage. To correct this problem, I use the the Hero Tracker program from the Operation Rising Star hero link. It is a little buggy, but it is also very user friendly. All you have to do is quickly enter characters, then during combat just enter the stun and body done to a character; the program does the rest. I find it speeds up my combat. The players tell me what stun and body they do to a villain, I plug the numbers in, the program tells me what happened after their defenses are applied. I then relate the information back to the player; ie is the villain still standing or stunned. I can also have the vilain hit the players and tell the player what happened. How much stun and body they have left. The program also take scare of recoveries and POSt 12 recoveries. If you do get this program feel free to email me and I can give you some of the fixes I use to make the program work better in 5th edtition.

    Frag

On page 11 of Champions Universe: News of the World, it describes Holocaust and several villains he has organized into a team called the Alliance. I am able to track all the villains down in various sourcebooks except the villain Frag. Does anyone know where I can find him?
  5. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From my Saturday night Champions game: The heroes are fighting the Brain Trust in Millennium City on the Ambassador Bridge. The Brain Trust are on top of the tower of the suspension bridge closet to Windsor. Overbrain has released several bugbots to terrorize the commuters. Mr. Zombie of the Brain Trust jumps 1000 feet off the tower onto the road below. He crawls out of the crater he made, unharmed and growls at the heroes. Splicer: “That is one hell of a present attack!” After defeating the Bugbots, Aurora flies up to the tower, and uses her energy blast on Ape-Plus. The attack does enough knockback to knock the gorilla off the tower. He begins to fall 1000 feet to the road below. Aurora: “Crap! Now I have to save him.”
  6. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Last night during my wide's WFRP group... GM asks the party for a visional perception check...Rob failed it Rob: "Can I hear what they are seeing?" After the dragon ramaged the village and flew off with a village fair maiden... GM: "Joed roll your follow trail." Joed: "How the #$*$ do I use that to follow a dragon? It flew off"
  7. Re: Best and worst jobs for Superheroes I think the worst job would a trainee for UNTIL. Don't they have Grond in hypersleep? Who do you think changes his diaper? Something tells me it isn't Secretary Marshall Wilhelm Carl Eckhardt
  8. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Hey Storn, who was the blue power armor for? Or do you not say any more?
  9. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... During our Tuesday night gaming session, we are currently playing Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. GM: "Make a perception roll as you travel down the road." ....everyone but Rob made it.... Rob: "Can I make a perception roll to see what they are hearing?" ..After the laugher died down... Rob: "Can I notice them looking in the direction of the noise?" GM: "The noise came from up ahead on the road. The whole party is looking that way, because you are traveling that way"
  10. Re: Storn Art from idea to full picture Year 3 I wanted your premission to use Ringmistress and post her picture on my webpage as a villain in my world. I will of course give you credit for her.

  12. Re: Storn Art from idea to full picture Year 3 Hey Death, Did you every get a chance to look at my webpage?
  13. Re: Storn Art from idea to full picture Year 3 How about an ice brick with stretching powers. Have Storn do strecthed out arms that still show the muscles of a brick, and maybe juggling a snowball or something. Or course trying to get a character like that for 350 pts might be hard. Hey Storn, Did you get me last commission? I had that trouble with Paypal? You never returned my email. Not trying to rush, just confirming you have it.....You should have 3 from me to do.....
  14. Re: Storn Art from idea to full picture Year 3 Try me at bengalelf@gmail.com
  15. Re: Storn Art from idea to full picture Year 3 Hey Death Tribble, Could you drop me a quick line. I was going to email you via the discussion boards, but you have that turned off. Could I get you to email me then. I want to officially ask you about using your Storn commission of Ringmistress......
  16. Re: with the Disad Lockout Sometimes a new player can breathe freash life into an old campaign. There are times I prove to be less than perfect, however I feel I am a decent role player. I would rather take a chance on a new player that could breathe fresh life into a campaign, than say no. I always talk to people who appear to be creating problems in my game, new or not. Give them a chance to change. If they don't, I approach them again and give them a more firm warning. Expressing if they do not change they will be told to leave the game. I have only had to do that once.
  17. Re: with the Disad Lockout I feel I handled the problem very professionally. Remember, we are talking about someone who bought a 5th edition rule book two weeks ago. I don't think he even knew Champions existed up until then. All he had played was D&D. I told him I would be happy to sit down with him Saturday before the game and help him create a character. At best I don't believe he could of read up to Power Frameworks by the time the first version of his character was emailed to me. I told him nicely, I didn't like the way he was using Lockout. He told me "the book says I can". I can be wrong at times, so I promised to recheck the book. I did and emailed him back explaining my point of view and why I felt the Limitation was wrong (it was not placed in a Power Framework). The next time I saw him, again, he said "The book says I can!" That was when I blew up. Remember, He kept sending me copies of his character before I could sit him down and help him create one.. He hasn't given any trouble since I raised my voice that one time. Sometimes as a GM, you have to show the players that you will not put up with their @#@#! I hate'd to do it, but if I didn't, he would probably walk all over me. He now knows I am in charge, as the GM should be. I feel all will be well from now on. Hopefully he will learn to enjoy Champions as the rest of us do. He still seems to be exicted about the game. Maybe even someday we will see him on this discussion board. :-)
  18. Re: with the Disad Lockout I do like this answer. I did a version of that. I told him and I quote. "I don't give a #@#@ what the book says! I created the world, and we do things the way I say. I am The GM after all!" (I didn't even raise my voice when speaking. I am so proud of myself) We reworked his charatcer together. I think we are both happy with the results. No more Lockout. He even apologized. I don't think I will have any problems with him in the future. I also think he has a chance of becoming one of the better players in my Defenders of the Millenniiumcampaign.
  19. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From last nights Defenders of the Millennium.. Ken brought his little girl to the game. She started crying when he made her sit on his lap instead of getting her own chair. As Ken gave in and gave her own chair... Tony said, "There is no crying in gaming!"
  20. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Edsel I am sure you will be very happy with Storn's work. Every one he has for me I have been very pleased with. I think he is busy with other projects now, so it may take him a while to get to them, but it is well worth the wait. I have three I am waiting for right now, with more to come.....
  21. Re: with the Disad Lockout My personal opinion, He is fishing for points. He just bought a 5th edition rule book and I think he is trying to cram something together as fast as he can. I fear he could be a rules lawyer.....
  22. Re: with the Disad Lockout That is my biggest problem with the limitation. He has no Power Framework.
  23. I asked Steve Long a question about the Limitation Lockout. I have a new player coming tomorrow. He has created a new character, the character has lockout on his energy blast, abosportion and his flight. I agree with Steve the limitation doesn't work with the energy blast because energy blast is an instant power... How do I discribe this to the player. I cannot find anywhere in the 5th revised where it says Lockout cannot be used with an instant power. Does anyone know where in the book I can find support for my opinion outside of the old I am the GM? The player keeps emailing me "The book says I can."
  24. I just picked up a new player and he keeps sending me copies of a character he would like to play. Everyone has the limitation Lockout. He bought his 5d6 Absorption, his 10d6 energy blast, and his flight all with the limitation Lockout. He has no Power Framework. If I am correct all three powers cannot be used in the same phase. When his action comes up in phase 4, he cannot use his energy blast on his DEX, if someone hit him earlier that phase with a energy attack, because his absorption would have acted that phase, due to the limitation Lockout. I realise Lockout works best in Power Frameworks. The player keeps arguing That the 5th edition revisied only suggests the limitation be used in Power Frameworks. My question is..What is the true purpose of the Limitation Lockout and would it work in my new player's example, and if so how? If nothing else he did buy a copy of the 5th Edition Revisied. :-)
  25. As Blue told me to. "Keep them coming." Refering to my Hero Clix mods to Champion characters, here are some more from my collection I just finished. Besides, it has been a while since a Clix Mod thread was started. The first is Captain Cardiac; a repainted Logan. You may remember him from the commission Storn did for me. The next is Howler from CKC. Scarlet Witch repainted. The third is Ripper. I put Thing's head on Rhino and went nuts with some weedwaker coil. Then there is Stretch, another commission Storn did for me. His minis are a repainted Daredevil and a repainted Mr. Fantastic. The last one, I am really proud of. Dr. Silverback. He is that new gorrilla from the new DC Clix line. I cut the m-16 and crowbar hands off and replaced them with Blaastar's hands. I then greenstuffed the lab coat on. My first attempt with greenstuff. I would be curious what people think.... As Blue said, we really need a clix mod Thread. All my Mods can be viewed at my homepage. Once there, it is The Champion Clix page. Has anyone gone there yet?
