This is Whalerider, the only member of Force Aquarius who hails from the Pacific. This New Zealander has the power to control the minds of cetateans (whales and dolphins) and can be of value when numbers are not in the team's favour. He also is the calming influence when the team's leader and second are at odds with each other (which is often).

  2. Re: Superhero Images

This is really rough' date=' but I wanted to get your impression Werehawk, I was inspired by the 'organic' feel to Narwahl and wanted to see if I could do an organic coloring of what I think is the symbiot. What do you think? Feel free to tell me I got the colors all wrong and such, I am more looking for the 'effect' of the coloring.[/quote']

I did not think of an afterglow effect on the "organic material" that traverses his body.Very nice. When I was designing him,I wanted to make a break from the cooler colours that I was using up to that point. His basic suit is dark red and the organic details are that of a bone-like colour. I can see a white phosphorus glow on him using your idea. His weapons lance also has the bone- like details but the base colour is purple.

I have posted Sea Drake's image in the Superhero Images thread along with

Kraken,Narwhal, and Hydrofoil, a Scottish water elemental. Her favourite beastie ( the afformetioned Armoured Squid) is in the top background along with her more conventional critter forms.

  4. Re: Superhero Images

19838[/ATTACH This is Sea Drake, another member of Force Aquaruius. She is a nautical metamorph who can swim at high speeds and breath underwater in her human form plus she can turn into a watery form when bodily harm is imminent. Frightening abilities for a very frightened and withdrawn young Englishgirl.

  5. Re: Superhero Images

This is Kraken. Second in Command to Force Aquarius. A Norwegian diver who is battle testing a highly advanced dive suit and is not to thrilled about being second banana in the outfit.

This is Narwahl. One of Kraken's best friends who is forever attached to an alien symbiot that doubles Kraken's capabilities. he is also a member of Force Aquarius.

More are on the way, including the rest of their teammates from Force

    Aquarius.

"The person sitting at the keyboard" Cool ! Really nice pictures !

    Thank you very much.

  7. Re: Super Names

Introducing Force Aquarius, the Naval Arm of the Global Defense Initiative. It is named after the team's supersub where thay are based.

The currant roster is as follows...

Torpedo Ray and Skate: a father and daughter team who possess super sophistacated attack mini-subs. Think Orange County Choppers underwater and you get the picture. Torpedo Ray is the leader due to to his SEAL training.

Kraken: A Norwegian with an advanced dive suit and multiple offensive abilities and a dislike for being second in command.

Sea Drake: A withdrawn and abandoned Englishgirl capable of morphing into various aquatic animals and forms.

Narwahl: A Norwegian human and alien symbiot with powers similar to Kraken's but double his potential.

Hydrofoil: A firey tempered Scottish lass with powerful water-based powers and an even more powerful desire to protect the the North Sea.

Whalerider: A Maori warrior capable of controling ceteceans telepathically to do his biding as well as linking all his comrades using a unique "Hydrotelepathy" ability.

  8. Re: International Heroes

    What do they look like?

I'm working on thumbnail sketches depicting their first encounter. It's going to be a couple days before it's done. I have their sheets using old 3rd ed. templates but I want to improve on the designs.

    Kraken aromour?[/quote

One of their teamates is a young English girl named Sea Drake. Her power is Shape shifting, provided it is of a nautical form. Her favorite is that of an armoured giant squid (I'm still figureing out the biology on this critter but it is nasty looking).

  9. Re: International Heroes

Tell us a little about the character please Werehawk.

Guessing by your location, I'd say its the two Norwegian chaps you're intrested in.

Captain Marten Skaarsten is one the Norwegian Navy's elite divers. From sub rescues to covert ops, he was the man for the job. The Navy tapped Skaarsten to field test an experimental dive suit under controlled conditions. This was no ordinary dive suit. It was lightweight, composed of unusuall matarials, armed with very advanced weapons, has a "stealth sonar" capability, and it augmented the wearer's swimming speed. Once he was given a quick once-over on the suit's operation, Skaarsten was given the code name Kraken after the many tenticaled beast of Viking lore and sent to the stageing area to test his new toy.

He didn't have to wait long.

Leftennant Erik Halvorsen was a member of Captain Skaarsten's dive unit and one of his closest friends. Lt. Halvorsen was more laid back and easy going than his more tacitern buddy and boss. While on leave,he spotted an unusual aircraft spiraling out of control and heading into the sea. Halvorsen grabbed his dive gear and sped towards the stricken vessal. He informed the local Naval command of the situation and his intentions upon arrival. His superiors ordered him to assess the situation and under no circumstances was he to take further action until Navy personnel arrived. When the first ships arrived, Lt. Halvorsen was gone. The commander on the scene was given an unusual order. Stand down and hold position, the "Kraken" was on its way.

Several hours after the ships arrived, a Navy helicopter appeared and hovered over the crash site. An strangely clad figure jumped off and into the abyss.

Captain Skaarsten could not believe how easy it was to swim through the water or how fast he was going. His sonar was unlike any the Navy had and it led him the crashed UFO. As he arrived, the ship suddenly began to decompose. It boiled the water around a large area. This exposed a major flaw in the design. The suit could not handle huge rises in temperature so Skaarsten had to get out fast.Fearing an expolsion, Skaarsten dove into an large outcropping of rck waited for the big boom. It did not explode, but he no longer could find the UFO. The ship simply disintegrated. But out of that maelstrom emergred a fast moving humanoid. It swam twice as fast as he could and its maneuvering was ungodly quick. Sensing a fight, Skaarsten armed his weapons. as he was doing so, the alien swam up to him and said," Are you a Human too ?". The voice was alien yet familiar, "Erik,is that you?".

"We are Erik" was his reply. Apparently, Lt. Halvorsen disobeyed orders and dived alone. He found the spacecraft and as he began to explore it close up, an energy surge knocked him out. He emergred symbioticaly attached to whatever it was inside. Halvorsen and the alien inhabited the same mind and is controlled togather. Once the Navy had secured the area, the two men were secretly taken to a secure facility to await further orders.

That facility was "Deep Ice", A secret xenobiological base in Antarctica maintained by an unknown organization known as the Global Defense Initiative. The UFO was damaged by GDI interceptors and crashed near the Norwegian coast. GDI agents convinced their commanders that they be assigned to the GDI's new underwater strike team,Force Aquarius. Skaarsten kept the code name Kraken and Halvorsen was given the code name Narwal

refering to his weapons lance looked like whale's long tusk.

  10. Re: International Heroes

The PC's in my campaign are Russian (with two exceptions). They belong to the Global Defense Initiative. The organization is international in scope but the personnel is nearly 65% Russian. Three or more points in the language skill is a must.

The Sapphire Squad(Origins) is half Russian with two Americans, one Canadian, one Chinese, and one Uzbek making up the difference.

Force Aquarius(also Origins) is composed of two Americans, two Norwegians, one Englishgirl , one Scot, and one New Zealander.

This is Hydrofoil, a member of Force Aquarius, the superpowered Naval Arm of the GDI. She is a hot tempered Scottish lass with powers similar to Sea Lord's( he is even listed as a rival in her disads).

Werehawk, need some color guidelines. (8^D)

His suit is predominantly red with a white insignia The left hand side of him is black as are his gloves and boots. The piping seperating the two is white and metallic gold. The metal on the gloves and boots is gold (closer to USC's color) The mask is white over the eyes and black over the mouth with red eyes. he has sandy blonde hair. the objects on his abdoman are white- gold- white.

  13. Re: What Other Pulp Hero Books Would You Like To See?

How about a book on Aviation Heros. This adventure genre was very popular in the interwar years. This would include characters like the realistic pilots(Tailspin Tommy,Buz Sawyer,Terry and the Pirates) to the tech based(Blackhawk and Airboy).to the fantastic(Sky Captain). You have the age of the Zeppelins, the development of carrier warfare, and the reign of the barnstormers.

Just my two small copper disks worth

  14. Re: Superhero Images

These two are Lancer's compatriots in the Crusaders, the JLA of a shared gaming world that includes the GDI (Red Falcon is a member).

This is Demonangel. She is an heiress whose family has a long history of Black Magic and Sorcery and intends to use her "Hellfire Magic" to attone for her family's malevolent past.

This is Sea Lord. A British shipping magnate who is able to breath underwater, swim at high speeds. and is capabible of various water based attacks. Not only does he protect his company but has a rep for being an oceanic menace to companies who misuse the worlds oceans.

  15. Re: WWYCD: "There are those who believe..."

    The GDI? What's that?

    Major Tom

The GDI is the acronym for Global Defense Initiative. This is my umbrella organization for my main campaigne(the Gold Team) and my events for Origins (the Sapphire Squad and Force Aquarius). The group deals with alien threats and attempts to solve long standing UFO mysteries. The best way to decribe it in short order is to think of SHADO with Supers.

In order to make direct contact with Adama, we would have to convince him to send either the Galactica or another vessal in the fleet somewhere between Uranus and Saturn so we can use the Plane Shear to safely send our people there. If they stay beyond the Kuyper Belt, I would not be able to convince my players to embark on a one way trip to the Galactica with no way to get back.

  16. Re: Original Supervillain Groups -- Get Creative!

I have an underwater version of the SERPENT SOCIETY. They are called The SHARKMEN. The roster is as follows....

BLACK TIP and WHITE TIP: Atlantean twins who can project powerful sonar blasts seperatly and a huge killing AOE attack when joined. They are the leaders of the group who wish to overthrow the current regime and replace it with a more representitve government.

CARCHARIDON: The team's main brick, He is a real "wereshark" and goes berserk when blood is in the water.

THRESHER:A mercenary with an advanced dive suit with multiple capabilities. he is the most independent of the lot.

LEOPARD SHARK: An animal empath who can control an army of sharks to do his bidding.

HAMMERHEAD: A man turned into a human-shark hybrid by the government and is the least human of them all. He is the team's move through artist.

ANGELSHARK: A mutant human female who can run at hypersonic speeds on the ocean floor and has a soft spot for Hammerhead.

WOOBEGONG: An Atlantean who has underwater chameleonic ablities.

SAND TIGER: Another Atlantean with underwater "weather control" powers with a chaos streak to boot.

A buddy of mine is conteplating an insect themed villian group for players to take on at Origins and GenCon. The Sharkmen could take on Force Aquarius at Origins but that is still up in the air.

    Lancer 2

    Drawn by Werehawk

    Colorized by Christopher Mullins

    What do you think Werehawk?

Do I need to change anything?

Her unarmoured arm is black as is her side opposite from the metal trim. Her glove holding the lance is metallic as well. the purple needs to be lightened a bit.

Also, concerning the background hills, you're the one that did the hard work Werehawk. The strokes and shading that you did made it easy to colorize it with Photoshop using a single function and couple of clicks.

For somebody who claims to have little formal art training, your grasp of atmospheric perspective is very good.

  18. Re: WWYCD: "There are those who believe..."

The GDI would find them on their long range sensors and try to communicate with the unidentified fleet and what their intentions are in this system. Once that is established, we inform them that we do not as of yet have hyperspace capabilities but we do have a teleportation system called a Plane Shear. We can send a team to one their vessals but they are currently out of our range and must move in closer. The GOLD TEAM or the SAPPHIRE SQUAD would be sent to greet the visitors(most likely in civilian garb) and go from there.

    Lancer

Werehawk, what colors did you have envisioned for Lancer?

She wears the Sacramento Kings colors. Predominantly black with white glove and boots. Her left arm armour and striping is metallic silver. Most of her top is a light to medium purple. Her neck is bare as is her forehead. The mask is black. Her hair is a dirty brown. The lance is various mettalic colors.

Love what you did to the background. Reminds me of pictures of the Smokies at dawn. Very well done indeed
