  1. Re: Impact of Figured Characteristics

Oh damn it all to hell!*dives behind cover and starts loading new Pro-Striking Appearance gun and frantically putting on Non-COM Tac Gear*

    Ready when you are.

I thought that this was about Figured CHAR!

    1. i agree about figured Char

    2. Somewhat intended for rapier

    3. I dont really have access to the funds for 6th so I havent seen what Steve did.

    4. this whole thread is giving me flashbacks to 'the war'.

  2. Re: "Rolling a Critical"

I had a muse while waking up. combining adding damage with the mechanics for Autofire ergo... *drumroll*

Critical Fire: For every two the character rolls under the number needed to hit the character gains +1DC.

My initial thought was to make this an advantage. however upon reflection of balancing the idea I think an adder would make it better. say for +5 up to +2 DC,+10 for up to 5 DC's

  3. Re: (Equipment) Axe vs. Sword

The problem with pole arms is that they were best used in armies than in single combat. Most historical combat wasn't one on one or small group skirmishes. Plus' date=' few fantasy characters in the source material wield glaives and halberds, of course.[/quote']

I've fought a really good spear skirmisher mano a mano in the SCA and man it really, really sucked. Even knowing the "get inside his reach" tactic and trying to perform it did not help at all.

  4. Re: Impact of Figured Characteristics

Have you ever bought up an EGO score on someone without mental powers? Why? There certainly isn't much bang for that buck. It's not like a 4 ECV was going to give you much more benefit than a 3 ECV. You were still going to get totally pwned by any halfway decent mentalist.

Did you ever spend even a single point to raise a COM score? Talk about lack of bang for the buck!

*Reloads the Pro Com shotgun* you CERTAIN you wanna start this?

  5. Re: Bad character design or broken rules ?

Having said that, yes, Skill Mongers can tend to cost a lot.

The problem, in my opinion, is that the Game values Skills more than most players and GM's do. I don't think this is a flaw of the system per se, as much as it is a habit of many players and GM's to think of anything that isnt a Power as being not good for much.

One of my players right now has Really shown me the advantages of a 17- effective Mechanics Skill....

the only pause I have for him right now is requiring a trap power to be in his multipower since he keeps on slamming the badguys with those (right before the team slaps them around of course).

  6. Re: What skills are necessary for a trial?

This is very interesting stuff. Would you say this is indicative of a mostly realistic sort of proceeding, or could it also handle comic book trials (where it seems villains are always getting out early)?

Seans original Post mentioned V&V as the source for his concepts (excellent Conversion BTW) V&V stands for Villians and Vigilantes definately a Comic book inspired RPG. And Sean If you ever wanna discuss V&V I have aplace to do just that....

  7. Re: Points and Parameters for a "Sunday Drivers"-like scenario

car wars pretty much predivided characters vs equipment. therefore I would at least predivide at least that much.

i would suggest TUV (within limits) + Plus Surbrooks ( http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationsvehicles/vehicle.html) for some interesting ideas and Gadgets and gear or some Dark champions for the weapons. For the original Car wars gear/flavor.

  8. Re: "Ya better talk Oculon, or you'll get the spike!" (A Super law question)

Theoretically' date=' yes, though it would call for massive technical failure or widespread crumbling of society's infrastructure, for this to be widespread enough to be a significant problem for future society. The kids have much more to worry from ecological catastrophe than from a realistic mass escape of super convicts. OTOH, it also leaves the possibility for future rehabilitation, or judicial redress.[/quote'] Heh a future camapign gamma world with ex supervillians released.....
  9. Re: "Ya better talk Oculon, or you'll get the spike!" (A Super law question)

This is a good point. Another poster briefly talked about the vengence nature of the death penalty, completely missing the point that it has the lowest recidivism rate of any punishment method devised. You have to look at the purpose behind all this.

The purpose of punishment is not so much to make them suffer. But to get them to stop doing the bad things that landed them in prison in the first place. It is a means of protecting the public. Cold sleep might be just as effective, however it still leaves the possibility for escape, or rescue. All you are doing is essentially leaving a problem for your kids to work out.

Death also eliminates redemption and the ability to inspire redemption. therefor Death is the lest desired outcome.
