Well, if you PM me, I might be able to get one of my players to give me his Sonic the Hedgehog stats for the characters. :D

He GM's in our multi-GM campaign and once in a blue moon, we still meet Sonic.

It was 'way past cool' to see our incredible powerful armored hero get crushed by Dr. Robotnik.

  2. (read read read. nod. read more. nod. read)

Interesting. I think any points I may have wanted to say have already been covered. Still...

    1) I rarely have it come up in a game.

    2) No, it doesn't cause problems when it does come up.

I'd say the most common situation somewhat releveant to this I run into is when a hero delays because a villain is delaying. They both continue to delay to the point where neither one does anything that phase, effectively negating both of their attacks.

Otherwise, yeah, I don't really have anything else to add. :P

  3. Wide coverage of thoughts

I'm going to jump from points to point. Thinking of the original post where a GM says, "You wouldn't have thought of that" can be greatly argued. Unless it's very obvious a character couldn't have thought of something in particular, such as a player recognizing a villain's modus operanti but he's playing a new hero - that new hero will not recognize it, unless it's obvious, the GM should let the player be creative. A GM has to be careful not to be subjective on what a character will or will not do/know. After all, the players are creating in their head the world the GM's built and creativity/fun is the game's goal.

I believe Champions II (correct me if I'm wrong) said that if in a game the chandelier looked too weak to swing on it and a player wants to try to swing on it anyways, if it adds flavor to the game, let the character swing on it! Don't nitpick or have an argument on such a little thing. It detracts from the game as well as game time.

I want to avoid getting on munchkinism in game but I did say I'd jump around. I run a campaign with seasoned players (and multiple GM's). As someone mentioned, seasoned players might do some munkining simply to create more thorough characters, or something to that train of thought. I did that with one character when I created a power called "Ulimate Healing". It comes out over 200 active pts. The GM's had no problem with it. I've used the power twice and neither time did it cause any problems, either. There are other cases where a power is blatantly going to hurt the game, such as a hero having a 20d6 EB, Armor Piercing x2, Affects Desolid, etc., or Invisibility with Invisible Ego Attack, blah blah.

It really depends on the players and the GM to work together and trust each other. If the GM is too strict, the game will die. I was in one of those once. On the other hand, a little overhandedness in a power, if carefully handled, can add spice and not hurt game balance.

  4. You could always try something like this:

Start the program while saying aloud, "I think I'll make a low-level villain." Once it's started, then create the big bad-guy.

Sometimes machines need to know their master. In college, the xerox machine would be commonly out of order, with lotsa students around it pondering what to do now. I'd walk in the room, ready to xerox and of course, get the line "It's not working". I'd proceed to xerox my papers, much to the glee of the other students. I'd leave, only to hear the same students say "Hey, it's broken again." I'd be able to do this time and again and don't know why.

  5. Just one of our house rules for a perfect 3 attack is to add 1 to the damage per d6 of the attack.

    ex. a 10d6 attack adds 10 stun.

A killing attack gets the option to either increase the Stun Multiplier or add Body. We're not firm on this part of the ruling yet.

The fun part is a perfect 3 on Autofire. So far, the attacker has 2 choices: all the shots hit or on the # of shots that did hit, those are a perfect hit.

    Not perfect but it works.

Nice pic of Blitz. Thought I'd mention it. :)

Yep. Until that comic comes out, there never has been (and still isn't) ANY entity known as Supergirl.

'Leastways, as far as I know.

Sorry but there has been a comic series featuring Supergirl, the Supergirl who was the cousin to Superman. I still have some of the comics from that comic series. So, yes, there was a Supergirl.

Why did your team pick their name? Or did they even have a choice? Again, I'm speaking more of in character rationale than out of it.

One of our groups hands out cards with their team name on it. It's a gold embossed card, which surprisingly, is taken by almost every villain simply because it's the only group the villain(s) have seen to do so. Of course, with such a weak rep, they need it. When I GM, I have the police roll a INT roll to see if they've even heard of them. It's hilarious. I don't recall why the team name was picked. Hmmm, I'll have to ask the other players.

If I'm not mistaken, Lobo is an alien bounty-hunter. He's huge but not much taller than Superman, talks like a biker and rides an alien space-cycle.

I bet on Popeye. As KA stated, Lobo is sorta like Bluto. Regardless of how many times or how hard Bluto tries to win, Popeye can almost fight him at his level without Spinach. Once he gets his spinach, for all practical purposes, he can't be beaten. Once having consumed spinach, he can easily bounce bullets and tankshells off his chest, can have superspeed, supersight, superstrength, superleaping, superswimming, survive tons of explosives without a scratch, etc etc.

Sorry. Thought my question was obvious. I was asking if you were the one who drew the picture or if someone else did. You answered my question. Again, cool pic.

  11. Souljourner, I don't much more to add. I've run into situations where I've had a high Dex character wait alot because a brick was trying to smack my character around. However, don't forget the DCV is in itself a form of defense. If you strongly feel that you need some form of combat option as you speaking about for your game, talk to the GM. Try a game but be open: I've tried many 'new' options to combat only to drop every single one of them (I think). An idea in concept may sound like a good concept to be able to have your character do until you realize what's good for one is good for the other - villains will get this, too!

  12. You should talk to the player first - no sense getting hard feelings. Make the player realize what's going on with not RPing the disadvantage and the repercutions of the death. If the player won't accept the responsibility, make him realize you'll be doing something about it. Changing the disadvantage to a surprise Vulnerability, have a respectable hero hunt the 'hero' down, the hidden camera seeing the act or even a homeless man who comes forth are good ideas.

Just because he fled doesn't mean someone or something else didn't see it.
