You do not need to have a credit card or bank account listed with them, but it helps. If you do verify one or the other you have an increased limit (over $1000 if I recall correctly).

If you have a bank account, once someone sends money to your Paypal account you can have the money sent to your bank account (taking 3-4 days) or a check can be sent to you through the US mail... taking longer and incuring a $1.50 charge for the check withdrawl.

It has been so long since I opened mine... I think all you need is a bank account and Paypal can transfer to the account... or you can use the credit to may purchases online.

Going with Paypal would be the quickest way to be about this, and you having a Paypal account would also be useful for other things in the future!

If we want some of these books, how would we pay? Do you have a paypal account?

I applaud the PC characters with 12 int, 22 dex, or 25 dex. However, the game system punishes them for purchasing those values. A character with 13 int, 23 dex, or 26 dex gets much more bang for the buck. There's a minor problem with the system when characters get punished for trying to stay within conception.

 

With graduated figured characteristics, you can purchase any stat level and not worry about being punished by the system.

I wonder why it is that you applaud characters with stats that are a waste of points. I know that RPGs are about playing a role and not about power through superior accounting, but I just cannot bring myself to spend points without getting a return on the investment. And in my opinion, being able to say "Nyah, Nyah, I am smarter than you are!" because a character has a 12 Int when the other guy has an 11 Int is just not good enough.

So I agree that the graduated characteristic system is a good idea.... a shame it is not official.

An expendable sword would be odd... it would basically have to be reforged after each use...

When two characters with the same strength work together, their combined strength is 5 higher... 10 str + 10 str equals 15 str. Does it work that way with an energy blast? Does 8d6 plus 8d6 equal 9d6?

Reason I ask is that I am working on an idea for cooperative magic for fantasy heroes... I hope this is not a really dumb question Steve!

Not that I am saying your idea is not workable... but I have personally always though the speed chart was one of the easiest things about the Hero System...

My personal dumb moment as a player... my hero was enveloped by a water elemental, the elemental intending to drown my character. For a turn and a half I struggled to do everything I could to get the thing off of me before going unconsious... then I remembered that my character did not need to breath.

Western Hero All I have to say is that a rattlesnake with a 10 strength is WRONG... I've never seen one of those critters wrap it's tail around a grown man and do a Bam Bam maneuver, have you?

Steve, do zero phase actions happen before all initiatives or before a character acts at his own initiative?
