  1. Re: DEMON: Opinions (some spoilers) Are any of the old Innner Circle Members still around in the new book (I mean the ones from the Seeker-universe: Damon Harrington, Baba Yaga etc.)?
  2. In one of the books from the New Millenium area (Fuzion), there is an ad for a book called "Champions Worldwide". Was that one ever published? And if not, does anybody have an idea about what the plot was supposed to be all about? Or, if somebody has read the ad, do YOU have your own ideas what Markoth The Sorceror would do?
  3. If I remember correctly, there was an even older incarnation of the Champions before the Seeker-days... I think some of their members were some guys named Goliath, Dragon and Marksman. Can somebody tell me where I can get more info on those characters (old books or somehting), or maybe some updated (5E) write-ups?
  4. Paranormals are living, thinking weapons. Just how much money could a paranormal mercenary expect to get from a job on average? Where does the minimum start? I am asking this because I think this is an important point for a campaign starring Super-Mercenaries... Opinions, anyone?
  5. Re: Telepathy And Loss Of Control Okay, I admit... I should have been more precise. Whenever his powers go out of control, he hears the chaos of all people's thoughts around him. Think of dozens of voices in your head that produce a totally confusing and maddening background noise (make that mayhem). An EGO Drain doesn't sound appropriate, sorry. The problem of sleeping... Well, I had that thought, too. But like I said, it's not my concept, but I am trying to make something out of it. I guess that the loss of control only happens when he is not prepared (sleeping is different from a punch - makes sense in a way...). Any more comments?
  6. A player of mine has created a character who has telepathic abilities. The problem is, he used to hear all thoughts of the people around him. After a while, he managed to "turn off" the noise by constantly concentrating. So far, so good. Now here's the point: Whenever he looses his concentration, his powers go haywire again, like when he gets stunned or becomes unconscious. Is this a Limitation or a Disadvantage? Which one? And how can he regain consciousness when he gets a continuous telepathic shock while in La-la-land?
  7. Re: Shamrock- Scorpia... Ever Connect These Two? In the old CU sourcebook (1992), it says that "Shamrock has been romantically involved with Scorpia over the last few months. After troubles with the IRA, caused by his nemesis, Leprachaun, the ex-terrorist has begun spending more time with Scorpia and her team." This was when Scorpia was still a member of Terror Inc. and the Asesinos were regular guests on Muerte's island. In the new CU, I would say it's anybody's guess. IMHO, Shamrock would at least know her personally. I could also imagine that he could become a member of Eurostar (as if these guys would need another powerful member...). He's got nowhere to run, nothing to loose - desperation can do horrible things to a man, even a happy-go-lucky-guy like the big green one.
  8. Remember Tempus, the villain from "Menace Out Of Time" "Champions Presents # 1"? I have an idea: After this scenario, Tempus sort of updates - and calls himself Timemaster. He would have the look of said villain from "Classic Enemies (love that spiky armor!). Creating the Powers for him - no problem. Captain Chronos, Timemaster, Tempus, Time Powers from USPD, and he's ready to go. However, I have no cool ideas for further plots. So I am calling for help: I need Plot Seeds! This could be anything from further revenge plots against the PCs ( in an appropriate manner using his control over time) or some plots for conquering the world (Bwahahahahahahah...) - with a time theme. Thanks in advance.
  9. This has been bugging me for quite some time; if it has been corrected already, I am sorry. Let's say a character is hit by an Adjustment Power that affects all Mutant Powers at once. Said character IS a mutant - along other things, he has STR 40, DEX 30 etc. - Characteristics which are clearly non-human. Strictly speaking, the Adjustment Power cannot affect the CHARs since they are not defined as powers. Which leads to my opinion that, starting from a certain point, high CHARs should automatically be considered as Powers...
  10. When someone is grabbing a character, could the victim escape from the hold by using Growth or Shrinking? I don't expect an automatic escape, but how could the effect play a role? After all, I would have difficulties holding someone who is suddenly a giant or a midget.
  11. Let's say I have a character who has Heat Vision (EB or RKA). How would I build an effect where he uses said power to weld objects for an impromptu repair or something like that? Thanks in advance.
  12. Re: Looking for COIL Plot Seeds Oh, god... I'm sorry... So sorry... I think I'm gonna die of embarrassment...
  13. Although I think that the Black Paladin is a great character, the Plot Seeds in CKC didn't exactly rock my boat. "Shades Of Black" is a great adventure, but what else could the dark warrior do? Whoever has some good idea for how to use the Black Paladin, throw'em at me... One plot that crossed my mind was that maybe the Paladin would try to assassinate a Bishop or the Pope himself since he detests the church - would that be appropriate for him? Any comments?
  14. "Sharper Than A Serpent's Tooth" gave us the rebirth of one the coolest villains ever (at least, in my opinion) - King Cobra. But now that the man is back and the Ophidian Plague is over, what else could he do? What other plot seeds could I use, putting not into consideration the ones in the book? I'm looking for plans COIL could set in motion to make their master king of the world.. preferrably with snake-style. Ideas, anyone?
  15. I love four-colour campaigns and the associated, almost mandatory Disads going with them, among them the Code Vs. Killing Psych Lim. However, there is one point that gives me some headache: Should a Code vs. Killing also apply to undead creatures? In the comics, the heroes usually justify their full-force attacks against zombies and the like with "They're not human!" and blast them to bits. I think that's okay, what are your opinions on the subject? And where should one draw the line? Zombies and other shambling cadavers are one thing, but what about more sophisticated undead like vampires? Captain America beheaded Baron Blood in one story - would you allow this for Code Vs. Killing-Characters? And what about demons? Should the good guys pull their punches when fighting the hellish hordes of Demonicus? Your opinions, please...
  16. Can anybody give me information about the "Sword of Dracula" series from Image - what it is all about, the storyline, who the main characters are and what powers are used by the "new" Dracula? I heard some funky stuff about blood-controlling powers etc., but nothing specific. I need details - and how would you build these powers? Thanks in advance.

    Martinez scale

I want to incorporate the Martinez scale into my gaming group to give them a rough idea of how tough their opponent is. It was introduced in the UNTIL Superpowers Database and gives a rough estimation of a superhuman's ... power? Threat potential on a global scale? This is where I am uncertain. Which criteria determine a superhuman's ranking on the Martinez scale?
  18. Are Combat Levels which can be used for DCV purposes (e. g. H-to-H-Combat Levels for 5 pts.) active out of combat, or does their benefit only apply after the character gets his first Phase? If not, the old, but experienced martial arts master (low DEX, but many Combat Levels) could easily be knocked out by a common, but faster thug... If the CLs can be applied to Surprise Situations/situations where the character is slower than his opponents, how are switchable CLs distributed?
  19. During my last game sessions, I encountered several questions: 1. How do I "build" a laptop computer according to the rules? I am no computer expert, so could somebody maybe give me the statistics and Powers? 2. Just how exactly does a handy work? How would I have to build it according to the rules? 3. My characters communicated by headset radios using morse codes. Two are ex-soldiers, one is a former spy. Should I assume that morse codes are a part of their military/espionage training (they have appropriate Professional Skills), or is it a separate Knowledge Skill? 4. For surveillance, the characters bought some monoculars. Should I really force them to pay the points for them? On a sidenote: Just how firm are you guys out there concernig equipment costs for your superheroes? Thanks in advance.
  20. And my personal guess is that a villain named Interface will be involved (a character that was mentioned in several books already, and after my question when that character would appear, Steve answered that he would make his premiere soon).
  21. For me, there is nothing as satisfying as knowing that I can bend steel bars with my bare HANDS. Energy blasts are just too "unpersonal", if you know what I mean, and a Roundhouse Kick may look cooler, but the loud KA-BOOOM a Brick's punches cause (way cooler on a splash page:D) just can't be beaten. Also, being secure in the relative indestructiveness of my body just gives me a real good feeling on the game table. I don't look at the effectiveness of high STR or anything, I just love the thoughts mentioned above. And just to make things clear, I don't come to the table to kick some butt... quite the opposite, as my fellow gamers can attest. Okay, one fight per evening is a must (damn, I have been discovered), but my characters (most of them bricks, who would have guessed) are actually very nice guys, often the spiritual centre of the group - and I swear that is never my true intention. And by the way, MY players are almost never bricks. In my groups, martial artists are the most popular choice of archetype. Just a question of taste, I guess. But as long as everybody's happy, more power to all.
  22. The strongest bricks (again, only characters who are classic stereotypes): 1. Grond 2. Ripper (with active STR Enhancement) 3. Python (according to CKQ on par with Grond) 4. Durak 5. Ogre (the new and tougher version from CKQ) And would someone please blast Bulldozer unconscious? ... Thank you.
  23. Does anybody know where and when the character sheets for UNTILs superhero team UNITY will appear? Will they be in the UNTIL sourcebook (which would mean waiting for december... groan), or in an issue of Digital Hero? The same goes for a character named Interface, a cyborg who is supposed to operate in Millenium City (mentioned in CU and MC). He fought against the Champions - if he did it alone, he must be pretty tough... As a sidenote: Which CU characters have already appeared in Digital Hero (and in which issues?). Thanks.
  24. I am using the "official" CU as campaign background, adding characters from the "old" books if I think that they are appropriate and they fit the feeling of my group. None of the PCs are among the top ten martial artists (yet), also none of my home-brewed villains. My list would include the following names: 1. Jade Tiger 2. Andres Panthanatos (from Justice, Not Law) 3. Nightwind 4. Jade Phoenix 5. Xiu Kwan (Lin Kuei assassin from WotD) 6. Green Dragon From here on, I really wouldn't want to continue the list, because in my opinion, after Green Dragon, the power level of martial artists is appropriately the same. It would always be a very close match, I think. One other thing: I have only included characters whose primary attack forms are martial arts. That is why I have not included Nighthawk from the Champions (although I think that he is inferior to the characters mentioned above. He is good, but not good enough for the guys above.), for example.
  25. Awesome pictures, man. Absolutely cool. And thanks for the hint to the established thread.
