  1. Re: Succeeding The Blood

I prefer the idea of a family of Empyreans, outcast long ago, as the Blood equvalent. It seems to have the Amber-like quality that the Blood possess, though I suppose it might invite the danger of the Empyreans becoming overused as a plot device or origin.

  2. Re: CotN Outtakes

    Who is Mark Derringer ?

You mention him quite often in your History of the Guard.

Mark Derringer, aka Avenger of SUNDER, one of the teammates from Thundrax's first team. Currently head of the Steelhead Division of the RCMP, as mentioned in Champions of the North 5th edition. He's stationed at Force Station Steelhead in Champions Online.

  3. Re: CotN Outtakes

I thought I'd posted in here' date=' but apparently not. I got great use out of COMET in my campaign, with the players guest-running them in an assault on an alien battleship that turned out to be a trap. Very good characters, and the players had some fun with their personalities and powers. So even though it's months late, I've repped you for the team, and am finally getting to express my thanks for posting them.[/quote']

Thanks! Glad they were useful. I hope you picked up the free PDF; the writeups are a lot more legible in there.

  4. Re: CotN Outtakes

I noticed that Cryptic folded Justiciar's origin into a battle with the Guard, so I decided to revise the writeups accordingly, and gave them a bit of polish and expansion in places. New writeups attached.

  5. Re: CotN Outtakes

Hi. You've seen the COTN outtakes file on the Hero Extras page, here's something else I've been working off and on on for the last few months. Primarily RP background for Thundrax, so you may find this dull, but there's hopefully a few good ideas here.

  7. Re: CHAMPIONS VILLAINS -- What Do *You* Want To See?

You mean' date=' aside from that whole "Gestalt" thing? :sneaky:[/quote']

I'm just waiting on art at the moment. When that gets to me, I can put the Hero version to bed and do the Superlink version when M&M3 is out.

There are no other writing projects on my desk at this time, and none are in the planning stages.

  8. Re: CHAMPIONS VILLAINS -- What Do *You* Want To See?

I don't think there's anything stopping DoJ from putting out a volume of "generic" villains that aren't part of official Champions Universe continuity and have no connection to the CU. Come to think of it' date=' Steve Long has even mentioned that in the worst case scenario -- something making the Champions license unusable by Hero Games -- they could always create their own all-new setting. So I should think an unintegrated villain volume would be easily doable. Considering how many Hero gamers simply crib elements from published books for their own games, that would probably sell as well as any other villain book.[/quote']

There's also npthing stopping a third party publisher from doing this, if they operate under the appropriate license. :)

  9. Re: CHAMPIONS VILLAINS -- What Do *You* Want To See?

I don't personally know, but judging from the few pics that I've seen from 6e 1&2, he easily looks Large, possibly Semi-Enormous.

I also wonder if there could be a little more differentiation between Grond and Obelisque - they fill pretty darn similar roles and seem too interchangeable.

I would also like to request that Ogre be adapted from his TUB version.

    Um...

This is my CO shot of Grond. Thundrax is 6'7".

    ((image deleted))

    Hope this helps.

Damn, image won't shrink. Here's the link:

  10. Re: CHAMPIONS VILLAINS -- What Do *You* Want To See?

If you rework the origins of the bad guys, Steve, I'd like to see some greater ties to the established places of the Champions Universe. There's a lot of kooky corners in the world now, which weren't explored when you did CKC. Going back to those and tying a few established characters into those places, where appropriate, would be a nice added value for the book.

  11. Re: Gestalt: Architects of Change: What Would *You* Like to See

Okay, i've come to a bit of a decision on this book.

It's almost done, but the Eiko invasion scenario continues to be a brick wall. So I'm going to jettison the sections on the Eiko for another book, finish. edit, polish and index the rest (which should be a reasonably short process) and publish as soon as I have art for it and Dave can get it in the channels.

It's still a big book -- the manuscript's at 174 pages at the moment -- so I'm confident you'll get value out of it. Once I get the superlink version done (provided that life allows me the privilege), I'll start work on a third book to cover the Eiko and maybe add some material on the Gestalt Dimension. There might be a 6th edition HERO version, provided there's interest, which may well end up being a Gestalt 2nd Edition.

  12. Re: Dimensional Fun!

Laurentia and Cabotia, the alternate earths mentioned in CotN 5e; the former where French Canada conquered the world, the latter where the world is controlled by a united British North America.
