jimofpeace
Hello everyone, I was looking at some older editions of Champions and came across both 4th Edition and 4th Edition Deluxe. Is there any difference between the two?
Hyper-Man
Yes. There are actually 3 versions in total. The 3rd is a softcover version of the original with erata updates. The deluxe version is a revision with different layouts.

Hyper-Man
I would get all you can as insurance to wear and tear and to see the minor differences.
Joe Walsh
Whatever you do, don't forget to pick up a copy of the errata. It has the fixes for the 4e Champions hardcover and softcover, the Hero System Rulesbook, and the Champions Deluxe hardcover. The version with the least errata is the softcover Champions book. That is also the version that was made into a PDF that's for sale at the Hero Games store and on DriveThruRPG. Champions Deluxe was made during the era when it was "in" to use graphic design that looked cool but was difficult to read, so it's not the best choice. It also has more errata than the earlier-released softcover Champions book. The original Champions hardcover's initial print run was problematic, resulting in an easily-broken spine. The later print run didn't change the interior at all (including still claiming to be the first printing) but is much sturdier. If you want a hardcover copy of Champions 4e, I recommend getting this one. (You can tell them apart by where the stock number (400) is on the cover. If it's under the word "and," it's the initial print run. If it's off to the far right side, then it's the print run with the better binding.) Ninja-Bear
I have the soft cover and eventually I had to put it into a Ringbinder and sheet protectors. Man is it stained too.
jimofpeace
Thank you for all the information. I was hoping there was an errata I can check out.

mrinku
Actually, it's pretty easy to spot a first print run BBB - the spine is broken

What I've been able to find isn't nearly as extensive as the 5E errata, but here's where you can read it: https://web.archive.org/web/20051123144220/http://herogames.com:80/SupportFAQs/errata5ER.htm
jimofpeace
Thanks again, Lord Liaden. Hopefully there isn't too many errors in the Revised Edition.
