Longest Running Thread EVER

Re: Longest Running Thread EVER

Hey, I said that!

(actually the only reason I bothered to post this was to help move the thread along, not because I actually care about the duplication - heck, you SHOULD duplicate - MORE POSTS, MORE POSTS!)

Well, I answered. Realised it probably had been, saw it had, and then figured on this thread...

Yeah' date=' I don't know why people don't PM the person directly. I know from having seen it elsewhere that it's actually not personal usually, it seems people just think somehow that it's a better "protocol" to go direct to admins. I could see that if you were a poster who comes online for 15 minutes and disappears for a day and they can't wait to get it off. But obviously not the case here.[/quote']

Oh... like pussies who throw up private messages and rep comments because they don't have a bearded lesbian mommy to run to?

Well, apparently Beemish is doing well, so I guess we can just leave it to him to take out the fort himself, and we can just get to bed at a halfway decent hour.

One can dream, anyway.

I dreamed of being haunted by the ghost of my dog Penny, and being caught reinacting entire scenes from Monk with my cardboard and toy guns. :(

Okay, then.

Well, I guess you don't always WANT to dream, but you do anyway . . .

Or something.

Ooh, activity!

Why do we dream when our thoughts have no meaning?

It's been a while since I had a class that touched on it, so please bear with me if I get this mixed up.

I seem to recall that one purpose dreaming serves is to transcribe things from our short-term to our long-term memories. Most dreams -- which we don't remember -- are simply replays of the day's mundane events as they are being copied over.

The jumbled-up bits we remember are analagous to the scraps on the cutting-room floor of a movie edit. Our brain then attempts to do what it does with all input -- put it into some kind of coherant whole. Since the leftovers bear no realtion to each other, though, the brain makes some pretty big stretches to fill in the gaps and make things fit together.

Hence why the dreams we remember don't usually make a whole lot of sense.

That's one theory, anyway. It happens to be the most popular right now.

Thanks!

Apparently Josh rolled up max damage for me on that. I think she might be looking into picking up a new skill . . .

Mmmm... Dianna reborn... :D

That makes sense.

Just two things:

Seeing Penny evoked a HUGE fear response in the dream...

And I was quoting Godsmack. :o
