Counter Attacks

My fiance is wanting to play a Monk Character, and I figure it would be along the lines of a Monk to be able to counter attack when faced in HtH combat sooooooo I wrote up two powers:

Counter-Punch Energy-Blast 5d6

Continuous +1/2

Damage Sheild +1/2

AP/RC: 50 Points

Counter-Throw +25 STR

Continuous+1/2

Damage Sheild +1/2

Only for Throwing -1/2

AP: 50 Pts

RC: 33 Points

So... For the counter throw... would she be allowed to add her own STR to the Counter Throw or would it only be the 25 STR bought for the power?

Re: Counter Attacks

Counter attacks are usually given the "requires a to hit roll" limitation since Damage Sheilds hit automatically, but its of course not required.

Damage Sheilds don't get the "No Range Limitation" I don't think.

I think it would just be the 25 Strength unless she brought her base strength with Damage Sheild or a naked advantages on her strength. There's also rules in the UMA for adding Advantages to Martial Arts Manuvers.

Re: Counter Attacks

I'm not 100% positive on this, but I think she would be limited to the 25 STR of the Counter-throw power.

However, I do suggest using Hand Attack instead of Energy blast to represent her "Counter-punch". Hand attack with advantages can have un-advantaged STR added to it, up to a certain point (up to the base points in the Hand attack..in this case up to 25 STR can augment the Counter-punch damage) thus, you can go with lesser base damage (say 3D6 for a maximum of 6D6 with added STR) and spend less points...
