No fair confusing the easily-confused owl! Australia's Next Top Model, of course.
Cancer
Re: The Last Word Well, the statement "yay, __________ is gone" raises hopes about what it might be that's no longer there. A tumor? A pestilential hellhole? Some daytime TV show? The neighbor's obnoxious and continuously overly loud spoiled yapdog? The possibilities for things whose demise would be cause for minor celebration make for a nice long list.

AliceTheOwl
Re: The Last Word The neighbors behind our new apartment have two dogs apiece. ALL of the dogs hate the sound of the train, which goes by on the OTHER side of our apartment building about 2 - 5 times per night. This sets all four dogs to barking and howling. If I'm already asleep, I don't notice. If I'm just about to fall asleep, though, it wakes me enough that it takes another five minutes to settle back down. Sunday night the train went by five times in one hour. = v =
lemming
Re: The Last Word Not even egg in the dough? (That gets overlooked at times.) Pizza dough doesn't have egg. Flour, Water, yeast, sugar, Olive Oil, Salt are the only ingredients in the basic type. I add some seasoning.

Cancer
Re: The Last Word The new neighbors across the street are putting a bunch of work into the house. They and their extended family are doing themselves (so it's not contractors banging around occupying all the parking spots).
AliceTheOwl
Re: The Last Word Well, that's something, at least. Is it quieter than it would be with contractors?
Cancer
Re: The Last Word Certainly so. Contractors show up (when they show up) at gawdawful hours and start banging and screeching away with power tools so that everyone knows they're in billable time. DIYselvers come by after work and on weekends and have been known to be considerate toward their neighbors.

Cancer
Re: The Last Word So far ... they've been working strictly indoors, so there's no noise. I think they're redoing the kitchen. Certainly they've got a new stove at the very least.

Cancer
Re: The Last Word Well, I'm a little out of practice. It's been seven years or so. OTOH, I don't think many people have been doing much of this stuff since then, either.

All I can picture is a teacher standing over someone's shoulder, watching him write. Suddenly, he blows a whistle. "Comma splice! Ten-minute penalty!" AliceTheOwl
Re: The Last Word I'm sure that would make a very interesting paper. Either that, or an unfinished one, because he had to go on a munchie run and forgot about the paper entirely.
