Cancer
Re: The Last Word My exam-taking days are decades in the past. I miss it some. I was good at it, and the exam period represented a closed end to the work involved. Contrast grading exams: you gotta grade them all, completely, no longer how long it takes. L. Marcus
Re: The Last Word We appear to have a system of our lecturers writing one or two questions per exam (of about twelve to fifteen questions), which they then grade.
Cancer
Re: The Last Word I've both taken and given exams in that style, but not very many. Nowhere near as many as the single-instructor sort.

Cancer
Re: The Last Word With single-instructor exam, you do it all. With multi-instructor, the work gets divided in ways that are difficult to predict. And the questions can be very uneven in difficulty and quality. Cancer
Re: The Last Word At least it's about half the load of last term. I will have two more papers coming in today, but I have a separate form for them.

Cancer
Re: The Last Word Winter quarter started right after New Year's, and ended in mid-march. Spring quarter began the end of March, ends about June 10.

Cancer
Re: The Last Word Yeah. There are some idiots here who want to convert us over to semesters from quarters, because it saves them some effort (there's a batch of paperwork at start & end of terms that goes down by 50% if you do it only 2 times a year instead of 3! Whee!!). T They conveniently ignore the vast cost (mostly in faculty time) in making that conversion.
